Chapter 83: I Can Collaborate With Anyone Except The Yoder
Although his father’s intention was for this task not to fail, he hadn’t said he must to be humble. Therefore, Yannis decided to proceed according to his own thoughts.
What he didn’t tell his father was that from the moment he laid his eyes on Amalia, he felt an instant dislike. And It seemed like an innate feeling.
With this premise in mind, his self-esteem and pride wouldn’t allow him as the Second Young Master of the Yoder, bow down to an artificer with just some talent. Thus, when he approached Amalia, he maintained the arrogance of a young master, and waiting for Amalia to acknowledge his presence and initiate the conversation.
Little did he expect that Amalia would act as if not seeing him at all, and remained bowed over the artifact in her hands. Five minutes passed, and she hadn’t raised her head even once.
Yannis stood there with a stiff expression. What was wrong with this person? Didn’t she see him standing here?
Even if she hadn’t noticed him, didn’t the people around see him? Wouldn’t anyone remind her?
Of course, Lysandre and the others had seen him long ago. But, they had no interest in acknowledging this seemingly arrogant and haughty rich young master.
With Amalia’s temperament, the more arrogant and self-important someone was, the less she would care.
As for expecting them to remind Amalia? They wouldn’t speak even if the sky rained red.
Yannis could almost feel his father’s increasingly displeased gaze. Finally, with reluctant and with a strained smile, he spoke, "Excuse me, are you Ms. Vanquez?"
Amalia lifted her head, her gaze was cold and indifferent, and devoid of warmth as she looked at Yannis. Her voice was both icy and arrogant, "What do you want?"
Damn! Who does this person think she is!
Yannis felt extremely displeased. If it were Mikel, it would be different, but a background-less artificer dared to address him in such a manner. Despite his dissatisfaction, he suppressed it and glanced around the diverse crowd. He frowned, "Could Ms. Vanquez step aside for a moment?"
"Just Speak."
Amalia no longer looked at him. As her reputation spread wider, more people came seeking her services. Her previous inventory was almost depleted, prompting her to plan a trip to restock on materials soon.
She also intended to procure some special materials.
Somewhat akin to clearing his throat before speaking, Yannis bristled with anger. This person was so arrogant. His patience wearing thin, and he said, "Let me get straight to the point. I am Yannis, the Second Young Master of the Yoder."
Amalia glanced at Yannis’s arrogant demeanor. Of course, she knew who he was—Yannis Yoder.
Because of what happened with Samuel and Carlos, She had to looked up his information online. The last thing she found his information was in tabloid news, along with his perennially arrogant and haughty face in the pictures.
"If you don’t have any other business, please step aside. I have other customers."
Amalia’s disregard for him made Yannis dislike for her increased. He even felt his instincts were correct, he pressing down his dislike, and he arrogantly said, "Ms. Vanquez, could you spare a moment? You should know my father is the head of the Yoder family, he is now waiting for you in the car, and wishing to have a talk with you."
"Is this how you ask someone for a favor?" Lysandre, who never liked Yannis, interjected. He found Yannis’s tone condescending, as if someone would covet his family background.
"Where did this mad dog come from? Did I speak to you?" Yannis glanced disdainfully at Lysandre.
Rolling his eyes, Lysandre retorted, "Are you an idiot?"
Yannis’s expression turned cold, he about to flare up, when Amalia spoke up.
"Leave."
Yannis’s expression shifted slightly, turning to Amalia, "Ms. Vanquez, what’s the meaning of this? Do you know the consequences of rejecting the Yoder? Even if you have some talent, you’re just a little women with no background now. My father personally coming here is already a huge favor to you. You better know what’s good for you."
"It seems like you don’t. When inviting someone, is this your manner? Your father would be furious. Raising a mess like you, if it were me, I’d throw you in the river to drown." Lysandre with his venomous mouth, wasn’t someone Yannis could handle.
Yannis’s face darkened, and shouting angrily, "Shut up! Do you have any right to speak here?"
Lysandre retorted, "Haha, why don’t you claim the whole country is yours?"
Amalia glanced at Lysandre, and seeing he was defending her, she didn’t stop him. She waited until Yannis was left speechless in anger before speaking slowly, "Young Master Yannis, please tell your father, due to your attitude, I can collaborate with anyone except the Yoder."
Yannis’s face became unsightly, his gaze fixed on Amalia while suppressing his anger. "I called you ’Ms. Vanquez’ out of respect. If you think highly of yourself, and offended the Yoder, do you think you can still survive in Big Apple City? Wait for the Yoder’s retaliation!"
Leaving this threat, he then stormed off.
"Little Sister, you acted impulsively today," the chubby stall owner shook his head, and sighing.
Lysandre was defiant, "Then should we just stand and let him humiliate us?"
"I wasn’t talking about you yet. Don’t you know your words and actions have caused trouble for Little Sister? The Second Young Master of the Yoder dares to say those things, which meant he had capital for saying those." The chubby stall owner glared at him.
Lysandre choked up while stealing a glance at Amalia, "So, what’s now? I’ve already said it."
"It doesn’t matter. Even without Lysandre, I wouldn’t collaborate with the Yoder." Amalia’s expression remained indifferent, and seemingly unconcerned about the significance of the matter.
This kind of statement indicated there was more hidden secret to the situation.
Everyone had their own secrets, so the chubby stall owner immediately stopped discussing the topic, sayung: "However, you should be careful recently. The Yoder always holds grudges and probably won’t let this slide easily."
Amalia paused briefly. "I understand. Thank you."
The chubby and the old stall owners were genuinely good people, and Amalia had seen this during this period. Otherwise, they might have treated her the same as Lysandre did in the past.
...
Upon returning, Yannis embellished the story to Mr. Yoder while emphasizing how Amalia refused and insulted the Yoder. He even claimed that Amalia was collaborating with the Yoder’s enemies and had no intention of working with them, which was partly true.
As for Amalia’s message, he deliberately omitted conveying it to his father. He couldn’t possibly mention such an obvious scheme before his father.
"Is that so?" Mr. Yoder stared at him expressionlessly.
Yannis felt a chill down his spine but persisted, "Of course."
Suddenly, Mr. Yoder coldly snorted, "Do you really think I know nothing? I told you to invite someone properly, but you acted as if you were looking down on them. This is your so colled best effort?"
Alarmed by his father’s anger, Yannis stammered, "Father, I..."
"Jist forget about it," Mr. Yoder changed his tone and his expression reverted to its usual cold indifference.
"She knows that you were sent by me but still showed such disdain for the Yoder. It seems he truly doesn’t want to collaborate. I initially planned to be diplomatic, but since she won’t cooperate, just proceed as it planned. What about her background?"
