Chapter 825: Sehyun Wang (Part 1)

The man stared at her in astonishment. "You’re sharp. You guessed it. No one wants to be with her, because the City Lord’s daughter is already over two hundred years old. And on top of that, it’s rumored that she’s as ugly as sin."

"So that’s the real reason. But why are you telling us all this?" Amalia asked.

"Well, we’re all cultivators here," the man replied casually.

In truth, he didn’t think much about it.

He simply overheard their amusing conversation and couldn’t help but speak up.

Otherwise, who would suddenly approach two strangers with such strange stories?

Amalia smiled. "Thanks for the warning. May I ask your name?"

"My name is Jinwoo Zhang," the man said, flashing a bright smile.

After parting ways with the man, Amalia and Kenny Lin continued with their original plan and headed to the Lake Heart Pavilion.

In order to avoid any trouble, they took a detour and glanced from afar.

Among a crowd of adoring onlookers, there was indeed a very imposing young woman.

Once they turned back onto the main street, they walked in the opposite direction of the City Lord’s daughter, as the Lake Heart Pavilion was only a few hundred meters further down the main road.

Thanks to the City Lord’s daughter, the street outside the Lake Heart Pavilion had suddenly become quiet.

The sudden appearance of two breathtakingly handsome men and a beautiful woman left the store’s attendant momentarily stunned.

He couldn’t quite believe how they had managed to escape the City Lord’s daughter’s clutches and make it here.

It was only after the two casually walked past him that the attendant snapped out of his daze and hurried after them. "What can I help you with today? Our Lake Heart Pavilion carries nearly everything..."

"Do you have millennium-aged Snow Pine Wood, Phoenix Feathers, or Jade Fang Stones?" Amalia listed three items in quick succession.

The attendant smiled wryly, taken aback by the immediate challenge. "I honestly don’t know if we have those. Please wait a moment while I fetch Manager Quan."

Shortly after, the sound of footsteps echoed from the second floor.

The first thing to catch their eye was a pair of long, slender, pale legs, followed by a delicate waist, a high chest, and a beautiful face.

Her gaze shimmered with a hint of charm as she descended.

"These are our two distinguished guests. This is Manager Quan," the attendant explained eagerly.

Manager Quan also paused for a moment when she saw them, likely for the same reason as the attendant—either due to their striking good looks or because she shared his incredulity.

However, she recovered quickly, clearly accustomed to high-profile situations.

Without giving them time to react, she joked, "What a rare sight—to see such handsome men and beautiful women in Skyward City."

"Do you have the three items I mentioned earlier?" Amalia asked directly.

She responded seriously, "The three materials you’ve asked for are all incredibly rare. Naturally, we don’t have all of them."

Amalia, ever perceptive, pressed, "So you have one or two of them?"

"You’re quite sharp," Manager Quan said with a light laugh, covering her mouth. "At the moment, Lake Heart Pavilion only has the Jade Fang Stone. You’re in luck—this was something we came across by chance. As for the millennium-aged Snow Pine Wood or Phoenix Feathers, we don’t have those. Finding even a thousand-year-old Snow Pine Wood would be considered fortunate. As for Phoenix Feathers, those are practically mythical, only heard about in rumors."

Amalia felt a bit disappointed but acknowledged that finding one of the items was better than nothing.

At least there was some progress.

"Then I’ll take the Jade Fang Stone," Amalia said.

Unexpectedly, Manager Quan shook her head. "I’m afraid I can’t sell it to you."

Amalia furrowed her brow. "Why not?"

"To be honest with you, the Jade Fang Stone is our store’s prized possession,"

Manager Quan explained. "It’s the reason so many people are drawn to the Lake Heart Pavilion. If I were to sell it, it would diminish our appeal."

"And you’re willing to risk offending those who come here specifically for the Jade Fang Stone?" Amalia questioned.

Manager Quan, a veteran in her trade, had heard similar comments many times and had long mastered the art of remaining calm. "You’re teasing me. While the Jade Fang Stone isn’t for sale, rest assured that the Lake Heart Pavilion, having obtained such a rare item, certainly has the means to procure others. We’re not trying to deceive you. The Jade Fang Stone is indeed our prized attraction, but its purpose is simply to draw interest. I assumed you two would be reasonable, so I’m telling you this directly."

"And what if we aren’t reasonable?" Kenny Lin asked with a playful smile.

Already strikingly handsome, his mischievous grin added a certain charm that was hard to resist.

For a moment, Manager Quan found her heart fluttering—despite her many years in Skyward City, she had never encountered a man with such allure.

Amalia suddenly jabbed Kenny Lin in the ribs with her elbow.

Kenny Lin, caught off guard, looked at her in confusion, then glanced at Manager Quan before frowning.

"This woman’s trying to deceive us. Don’t tell me you’re feeling sympathetic towards her?" He added with a fierce expression.

Amalia rolled her eyes and decisively said to Manager Quan, "In that case, we won’t disturb you any further."

"Would you not consider browsing for something else? Perhaps you might find other items you’re looking for," Manager Quan offered, unsure of what was going on between them.

After all, these two seemed like wealthy customers, and she was itching to peel a layer off them, metaphorically speaking.

Amalia gave her a sidelong glance. "Since the Jade Fang Stone is just a gimmick, you should know that things won’t always go as you hope."

She had no reason to waste her spirit stones here when she could get most other items for half the price at the GreenLotus Sect.

Manager Quan stood frozen, watching as the two walked out of the Lake Heart Pavilion.
