Chapter 823: Skyward City (Part 4)
"Are you sure it was just cultivation?" Amalia smiled gently.
Kenny Lin wanted to confidently say, "Of course!"
But the words got stuck in his throat.
If he dared to say it, Amalia would likely take him up on it, exhausting him to the point where he wouldn’t even get a taste of the "meal."
"This dual cultivation we talked about doesn’t seem right. It’s too straightforward," Kenny Lin sighed.
"If you don’t control your essence, the energy will leak out. How else do you plan to dual cultivate?" Amalia cast a glance his way.
Kenny Lin sighed again.
They had done the act, yet he had to restrain himself, unable to fully release it.
It was like having a piece of meat he had craved for centuries right in front of him.
He could take a bite, but not chew, even though the scent filled his mouth.
He was forced to test his willpower while watching out for Amalia, who could kick him away at any moment.
Glancing at Amalia’s body, Kenny Lin gritted his teeth. "One day, I will create a technique where I don’t have to control my essence!"
"Oh? Good luck with that," Amalia said, her tone lacking sincerity.
Kenny Lin’s eyes lit up, "So you support me?"
Amalia, seeing through his thoughts instantly, remained expressionless, "You’re overthinking it. If you want to test it, do it on yourself."
Kenny Lin looked deflated.
"But," Amalia added thoughtfully, "this technique really is powerful."
Although she had anticipated good results, she hadn’t expected them to be this extraordinary.
In just three days of dual cultivation, she had progressed from the middle stage of the Golden Core all the way to its peak, now just one step away from Nascent Soul.
If it weren’t for the risk of causing too much commotion by breaking through here, she might have done so.
In the end, she chose to hold back.
Amalia glanced at Kenny Lin.
In fact, his results were even better than hers.
The higher one’s cultivation, the slower the progress.
Yet, against all odds, Kenny Lin had broken through from the early stage of Nascent Soul directly to the late stage.
This speed was so incredible that no one would believe it if they heard about it.
Peak Master Qixing Huayue had been worried that before the arrival of the Path of All Immortals, Amalia’s cultivation wouldn’t advance much.
If he knew how fast their progress had been, he’d probably be shocked.
"Fix your clothes. It’s time to leave and return for seclusion," Amalia said as she walked out of the room.
Kenny Lin casually straightened his clothes with a few careless tugs.
When they finally came down to the first floor, the relief on the innkeeper’s face was almost palpable.
How happy he was inside was anyone’s guess, but his emotions certainly showed.
Although Kim Nie had said it was fine, the inn’s business was tied to the innkeeper’s income.
While he respectfully sent the two off, he couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief once they were gone.
Later, he inquired with Kim Nie about the spiritual energy consumption.
As expected, in just two more days, it had increased by twofold again, nearly matching the first three days.
These two must be monsters.
Thankfully, they didn’t stay any longer.
At that rate of consumption, what they had been doing in that room for five days was unfathomable.
He had never heard of anything like it.
The Nine Celestial Inn’s spiritual energy usage was calculated collectively.
When they mentioned the increase, they were referring to the total consumption across all rooms.
Considering that, these two alone had absorbed as much energy as a whole group of people.
"Manager, we’ll be back next time," Kenny Lin said cheerfully, turning to the innkeeper just as they were about to leave the inn.
The innkeeper’s legs nearly gave out.
Come back again? Seriously?
Once they were out of sight, Amalia finally said, "Stop scaring the poor guy."
"Well, he looked so eager to see us leave. We’re paying customers after all," Kenny Lin snorted.
He wasn’t a fool; the two of them had clearly come upstairs because they were afraid both of them would drain all of the Nine Celestial Inn’s spiritual energy.
Interrupting my fun?
He had no problem giving them a little scare in return.
"Any inn would want to get rid of us," Amalia said bluntly.
Both of them knew they absorbed spiritual energy far faster than normal cultivators, several times more, so it was understandable that the innkeepers were worried.
After all, no business wants to lose money.
Kenny Lin strode forward and casually draped an arm around her waist, "How about we don’t rush back today? We’re already out—let’s stroll around for a bit before heading back."
The gesture made several passersby glance their way curiously.
"Alright, let’s wander a bit before we head back," Amalia agreed.
There was no reason to refuse such a small request, especially considering that they had already shared the most intimate of experiences together.
"Where are we going?" Kenny Lin, who had suggested the stroll, turned around and asked her instead.
Amalia thought for a moment. "Let’s go to the biggest materials shop in Skyward City. I need to find a few special materials, and I’m not sure if they’ll have them here."
"Doesn’t Green Lotus Sect have them?" Kenny Lin asked.
"If they did, I wouldn’t be searching here," Amalia replied.
The prices at Green Lotus Sect were half off compared to the market, so there was no reason not to take advantage of that privilege.
But, of course, the materials she needed had to actually be available for her to use that benefit.
The Green Lotus Sect had an extensive collection, but it didn’t have everything.
Even if some rare materials or spiritual medicines were available, they weren’t always made accessible for disciples or elders to exchange.
Items that were priceless and scarce were rare, even for the Green Lotus Sect, so those wouldn’t be offered for general exchange.
