Chapter 817: Dual Cultivation Technique (Part 6)
He couldn’t help but feel a slight tinge of disappointment.
"There’s no need. Whether the techniques are suitable doesn’t depend on how many you look at. One good one is enough," Kenny Lin replied seriously, though his thoughts were entirely the opposite.
In his mind, there could never be too many dual cultivation positions.
The more, the better.
But since Amalia had disagreed, there was nothing he could do.
"As expected of Junior Master Uncle. Your insight is something most disciples can’t compare to," Elder Pan flattered him, but he genuinely believed it too.
Some disciples thought that the more techniques they learned, the better their foundation, but they failed to understand that mastering many without true depth left them vulnerable.
Someone who mastered a single technique to perfection could easily defeat someone with superficial knowledge of many.
True strength wasn’t about learning as much as possible, but about perfecting what one did learn.
The saying "A master of one trade excels in all" held true.
Kenny Lin entered the pavilion to return the techniques and carefully placed each one back in its original spot.
On his way out, he said to Elder Pan, "I’ve kept my word. I’ve already asked Renshu Chang to pass your message to Nephew Qing. Whether or not he agrees is up to him now."
"Thank you, Junior Master Uncle." Elder Pan’s smile deepened, his wrinkles spreading across his face like blossoming flowers.
It wasn’t that he disliked guarding the Hidden Art Pavilion.
Rather, he was pleased that Kenny Lin was true to his word.
Once Kenny Lin left, Elder Pan returned to the pavilion and found the second-floor keeper to verify whether all the techniques Kenny Lin had borrowed were back in their proper places.
It wasn’t that they didn’t trust Kenny Lin, but it was simply a required procedure.
"Except for one top-tier cultivation technique, the rest have been returned," the keeper on the second floor said with a peculiar expression, as if he found it difficult to explain.
"What’s the matter?" Elder Pan only now realized that he hadn’t checked what Kenny Lin had borrowed, and up until this point, he didn’t know they were all dual cultivation techniques.
"It’s nothing, just that the disciple of the esteemed Master Lian has some... unique tastes," the keeper said with a wry smile.
It was the first time he had ever seen someone take out dozens of dual cultivation techniques at once.
Elder Pan sensed something unusual, "What kind of techniques did he take?"
"Dual cultivation techniques," the keeper paused and added, "dozens of them."
Elder Pan: "..."
Both of them were silent for a long moment.
Elder Pan finally said, "Let’s not mention this to anyone. I’ve heard this Junior Master Uncle isn’t the easiest one to get along with. If he finds out this got out from you, he might hold a grudge."
The keeper: "...Thank you, Elder Pan, for the warning."
Elder Pan nodded his head, clasped his hands behind his back, and walked away in awe.
The Green Lotus Sect truly had all kinds of characters—he just happened to be one of them.
Back at Nameless Peak, Kenny Lin informed Amalia that he had returned all the books and added that Elder Pan hadn’t even asked what kind of techniques he’d borrowed.
"Maybe he already knew but didn’t want to embarrass you," Amalia sighed softly.
"Why should I be embarrassed?" Kenny Lin didn’t feel the slightest hint of awkwardness.
"The Green Lotus Sect has such an extensive collection of dual cultivation techniques—clearly, they’re encouraging disciples to find dual cultivation partners. I’m just responding to the sect’s initiative. Otherwise, why would they gather so many techniques in the first place? And what I took was just a small portion. There are still hundreds left. I just felt..."
"You just feel that those positions aren’t stimulating enough for you," Amalia quietly added.
Kenny Lin grinned, "Say what you want, but even if I really wanted to, you wouldn’t agree."
"And you still took so many," Amalia sighed, already too tired to argue with him.
"Everyone needs a little hope. What if it works out?" Kenny Lin said with deep emotion.
Amalia chuckled, "That’s never going to happen."
"When are we going out for dual cultivation?" Kenny Lin asked, then added with a look of regret, "We should have asked Nephew Qing to secure a mountain peak just for the two of us. That way, we wouldn’t have to worry about anyone else seeing what we’re doing."
Actually, staying at Upper Nine Peak Peak or Nameless Peak was fine.
Kenny Lin wasn’t afraid of their master or Senior Tian Wuya finding out that the two of them were together.
What he wanted to avoid was the awkwardness of those two old monsters if they suddenly extended their spiritual sense and witnessed something they shouldn’t.
That would be too embarrassing, and Amalia would definitely get angry.
"You’re just in the Nascent Soul stage and already dreaming of having your own mountain?" Amalia raised an eyebrow.
"What’s wrong with being at the Nascent Soul stage? There are Nascent Soul stave sect leaders and elders out there," Kenny Lin retorted.
"You don’t need to look so far. Just go out and create your own sect. Then you can do whatever you want, and no one will be able to stop you," Amalia teased with a smile.
Without thinking, Kenny Lin replied, "Forget it. I don’t even want to manage myself, let alone others. I’d probably end up sending them all to the devil battlefield to die because I couldn’t stand them."
Amalia knew he wouldn’t say anything decent, so she just shook her head in resignation.
"When did you switch topics again? When are we going outside?" Kenny Lin was already growing impatient.
It was rare that Amalia didn’t oppose the idea this time.
"In a couple of days. I want to take a look at this cultivation technique first, see if there’s anything we need to prepare or be cautious about."
"Really? You’re not lying to me?" Kenny Lin eyed her suspiciously.
Amalia couldn’t help but laugh, "Why would I lie to you?"
