Chapter 78: Lysandre demons (Part 1)
When Mikel returned, his eyes filled with excitement and anticipation as he looked at Amalia. "I was right about you, you’ve completely recovered it. I really have high hopes for you. With your talent, staying in Big Apple City would be such a waste. How about you come with me?"
This statement startled both Hubert and Samuel.
Hubert hurriedly pulled Mikel aside to whisper, "Mikel, we don’t know her background yet. It might not be wise to bring her to the Royal Durian City so hastily."
"We can find out by investigating," Mikel dismissed his concern, Amalia didn’t seem like a bad person And he believe in her; and also his judgment always quite reliable.
Hubert thought to himself; indeed, he could investigate later. After all, they already knew each other’s names.
On the other side, Samuel was also "persuading" Amalia. "Amalia, this is your chance. If you go to the Royal Durian City with Young Master Sabate, Yannis won’t trouble you anymore, and you can have better opportunities."
Amalia gently shook her head.
"How do you feel about it?" Mikel returned.
"I appreciate your kindness, but I don’t want to leave Big Apple City at the moment. I have my foster parents here, and i still have matters with the Rodriguez that are still unresolved. Besides, Heavenly Path University hasn’t started yet. So, I’m in no rush," Amalia explained.
Both Mikel and Hubert were surprised by how readily she rejected their invitation without any hesitation. Their previous concerns didn’t seem as significant anymore. "Are you really not considering it at all?"
Amalia remained resolute in her stance.
"Alright then. If you ever change your mind, you’re welcome to find me," Mikel didn’t push her further.
...
With Yannis’s pressure gone, the Salvador’s company finally rebounded. The banks and shareholders who had previously pressured them seemed to vanish overnight, and the company’s stock price began to rise again.
Samuel went back to home and briefed his father on what had happened. His father became even more certain that his decision to have his son follow Amalia was correct. It might be the most accurate decision he had made in his life. He urged his son to interact more with Amalia in the future.
...
However, Yannis didn’t fare as well. The call he received that day was from his father that instructing him to stop his actions against the Salvador company and ordering him to immediately return to home to see him.
Among the people Yannis feared the most in the Yoder was his father. He dared not disobey him, so he had to send Sergio away, and driving back to the Yoder family mansion alone.
As soon as he entered his father’s study, a thick book was thrown at his feet, obviously he grabbed the book randomly.
"How did you treat Master Juan? He complained to me this morning, saying your handling of the matters was unreliable!" Mr. Yoder had always considered his second son to be a steady person.
"And what about Mikel? If you wanted to please him, why did he personally call me asking you to stop targeting the Salvador?" Mr. Yoder knew about his second son’s recent subtle actions.
Because the Salvador wasn’t a major family, he felt that even that family was gone there wouldn’t much big impact on their family.
So, although his son was using the resources of the family to deal with them, he turned a blind eye on it.
He though that taking down a small Salvador family would be very quick, but he was surprised that after so many days of deadlock, not only had they not succeeded, but now both Mikel and Master Juan had contacted him. When he know two important figure come to him one after another, Mr. Yoder was embarrassed by the situation.
Yannis’s expression was shifted; he had thought his father called him because the matter related to Mikel. He was already prepared to explain himself. But hee hadn’t expected that Master Juan would also make complain to his father.
Feeling unfairly treated, Yannis believed it was Master Juan’s lack of capability that had caused him to lose Mikel’s trust. He briefly recounted the situation and emphasized it wasn’t entirely his fault.
His father’s expression turned cold. "Do you truly think I summoned you here because of these two incidents? Don’t you realize where your mistake lies?"
"I understand, Father," Yannis immediately bowed and admitted his mistake.
"You are Enrique Yoder’s son. How could you lose to others? If you choose to act, you must succeed. You failed to bring down the Salvador, offended Master Juan, and didn’t win Mikel’s favor. Have you succeeded in anything?" Mr. Yoder sternly pointed out his son’s true mistake.
Feeling a sense of urgency not to disappointed his father, Yannis desperately sought a way to regain his father’s trust. Suddenly, a thought of idea struck him. He lifted his head with urgent light gleaming in his eyes.
"Father, the truth is, everything I’ve done was to achieve a goal, to make you happy. Let me explain..."
...
Together, Amalia and Samuel left Mikel’s villa. After parting ways, she went back to the place where she set up her stall.
She hadn’t been there for several days, and causing disappointment among the customers who came and then left, waves of them leaving dissatisfied.
Every time she saw these customers leave, the other stall owners felt heartbroken, as if they could hear the sound of money slipping away from their hands.
Today, the atmosphere was slightly different. As soon as Amalia arrived, she witnessed a wealthy middle-aged man standing in front of a thin stall owner, and his expression was full of disdain.
He expressed strong disdain for the thin stall owner’s attire and profession.
"I’ve said it before, you’re useless. Everyone says that being an artificer is a promising future and lucrative profession. Yet, in your case, where’s your promising future? Would anyone with promising future will be setting up a stall like this?"
