Chapter 721: Stop Pretending (Part 2)
He didn’t believe these three people could escape from them.
So what if there were three prodigies?
The devils also had several prodigies in the secret realm.
"Where do you think you’re going?" Renshu Chang saw through their intentions and immediately gave chase.
Amalia and Kenny Lin moved even faster, quickly catching up.
"Why are you running? Weren’t you going to skin us alive? Now we’re letting you, and you’re running away? Didn’t you love watching your enemies struggle before they die? Well, I enjoy that too," Kenny Lin said with a smile, but his sword was merciless as he slashed at Moralik, who was leading the retreat.
Moralik’s eyes turned red with anger.
This damn human had been pretending all along.
He quickly dodged the attack, but his momentary hesitation slowed him down, and Amalia caught up.
Amalia appeared by his side, her blade slicing through the air without hesitation.
The distance was too close, and Moralik couldn’t dodge her attack in time.
His arm was slashed, and he felt the blade’s energy spreading through his wound, destroying his body from the inside.
Without hesitation, he chopped off his own arm.
Now he understood why Velgar’s soul didn’t escape.
The Green Lotus Sect had a type of sword cultivator whose sword energy was deadly to devil souls.
Although he didn’t know why this person used a blade instead of a sword, the blade energy invading his body felt just as dangerous as that sword cultivator’s energy.
Out of the fifteen devils, seven were dead, leaving only eight alive.
They all fled in one direction, but seeing they were about to be caught, Moralik quickly ordered them to split up.
"We’ll split up and chase them!" Renshu Chang said while leading the way.
"I’ll take care of those two," Kenny Lin said as a flash of light appeared under his feet.
His body shot forward like a streak of golden light, disappearing from sight.
Amalia didn’t hesitate either, she turned around swiftly to pursue the two devils fleeing in another direction.
Moralik glanced back and saw Kenny Lin closing in on him.
Rage filled his eyes.
If it weren’t for this human, he wouldn’t have fallen into such a trap.
Seeing he was about to be caught, and knowing his opponent’s combat strength, he didn’t dare face him head-on anymore.
He realized there was a gap between himself and these prodigies and knew he couldn’t rely on numbers to win this time.
If necessary, he would have to use his trump card early.
"Esmus, you hold him off for a moment. I’ll unleash a powerful attack to take him down in one go," Moralik suddenly said, turning his head to the devil beside him.
Esmus’s eyes flashed, "You really have a powerful move?"
"Of course, why would I lie to you? If we drag this out any longer, we’ll both die!" Moralik said impatiently.
"Fine, I’ll give it a try." Esmus gritted his teeth.
He didn’t want to die here, so he decided to take the risk.
But as soon as Esmus stopped, Moralik suddenly pushed him hard.
"Moralik, you tricked me!" Esmus shouted in shock and anger.
Seeing Kenny Lin closing in, he tried to escape, but the sword light had already slashed toward him.
Moralik did have a powerful move, but it wasn’t for attacking.
He felt no guilt at all.
They had only teamed up because they shared similar interests, so if he could use someone else’s life to save his own, why wouldn’t he?
He didn’t pay attention to Esmus’s desperate and furious screams, but he did glance back.
What he saw terrified him: Esmus had been swiftly cut in half by the enemy, his broken body flying through the air.
This human was far more powerful than Moralik had anticipated.
Esmus was a late-stage leader-level devil, yet he didn’t even have a chance to fight back.
Although Moralik was at the peak of the leader-level devil, he couldn’t kill Esmus with just a single strike.
If he had to face this human directly, he wouldn’t last long.
Kenny Lin’s feet flashed with golden light, and after being momentarily slowed down by Esmus, he quickly regained his speed.
Moralik noticed that the distance he had just gained was shrinking again.
If this continued, he would eventually be caught.
Esmus’s sacrifice hadn’t given him much of an advantage.
He hadn’t wanted to use his last resort so soon, but now he had no choice.
If he didn’t use it now, he might not get another chance later.
As Kenny Lin closed the gap, he suddenly noticed a massive surge of spiritual energy ahead.
The devil’s figure became hazy, and he immediately slashed him with his sword.
The sword light passed through the now-ghostly figure, but with a flicker, the devil vanished.
Vanished?
Kenny Lin flew to the spot where the devil had vanished.
The space still had some lingering ripples, showing that the devil had used a secret technique to escape his pursuit.
He searched the area carefully before confirming that the devil had indeed escaped.
"What happened?" Amalia had already killed the two devils she was fighting and had even helped the other disciples finish off their opponents.
She came over to Kenny Lin, noticing that he seemed to be searching for something.
"One of the devils escaped using a secret technique," Kenny Lin said, frustrated, "That devil, Moralik, got away. I wish I could’ve seen him beg for mercy before finishing him off."
Amalia jabbed him with the hilt of her sword without hesitation, "Are you still acting?"
"This time, I’m not acting. Don’t you think it would be fun to watch those arrogant devils beg for mercy? You even used your Original Flames on them earlier," Kenny Lin said, rubbing the spot where she had poked him, wincing.
"We’re different," Amalia replied, glaring at him before turning around to join Renshu Chang and the others.
Kenny Lin followed behind her, muttering that they weren’t so different after all.
