Chapter 675: Pretending To Be Weak To Eat Tiger (Part 4)
Amalia’s gaze turned cold as she watched Orzoth’s fleeing figure.
A blade that was appearing in her hand at some point, shot out a sharp beam that hit Orzoth squarely in the back.
Orzoth let out a miserable scream and accelerated his escape, crashing into a stone wall, his breath weakening instantly.
"So ruthless..." Kenny Lin looked at Amalia with fear, realizing how close to death Orzoth was, wondering how much Amalia wanted to hit him.
"I can be even more ruthless, do you believe it?" Amalia gave him a cold glance.
Kenny Lin nodded his head quickly, "I believe, I believe."
How could he not believe it?
"Go check if he’s dead."
Amalia sheathed her blade and went to inspect Erod’s corpse.
Without seeing them dead with her own eyes, she couldn’t be at ease.
Kenny Lin, seeing her cold demeanor, obediently went to find Orzoth’s body.
After falling from the sky, Orzoth had landed in a patch of grass.
When Kenny Lin found him, he saw Orzoth struggling to stand but failed, finding it quite amusing.
He stood there quietly, watching for a few seconds.
When Orzoth saw him, the terror on his face became even more apparent.
After the blade energy entered his body, he realized that it was just like the sword energy of the Green Lotus Sect sword cultivators—once inside, it started to destroy his meridians and internal organs.
If he didn’t expel the blade energy from his body, his meridians would eventually be completely destroyed, his cultivation would continue to decline, and he would become a cripple.
Orzoth’s eyes revealed intense unwillingness.
Before he came, the elders of his family had warned him to avoid these special cultivators from the Green Lotus Sect at all costs, yet he had still encountered them.
After watching enough, Kenny Lin ended Orzoth’s life with a single sword strike and took his storage artifacts.
"Honey, this is a devil’s storage bag," Kenny Lin said, trying to flatter Amalia by offering the storage bag.
Amalia glanced at him.
He only called her "honey" when he made a mistake, but she wasn’t truly angry.
Kenny Lin followed her to the spiritual pool.
Inside, the liquefied spiritual pool was reduced to a thin layer.
The milky white substance was actually the spirit core; otherwise, the devils wouldn’t have noticed something was wrong so quickly.
"Taking this spirit core is going to be tricky," Amalia said.
Kenny Lin asked, "Can we take it?"
Amalia replied, "It’s not impossible. I have to try. You stand guard. Those two devils that left will probably be back soon."
"Got it," Kenny Lin responded obediently.
Seeing he wasn’t arguing with her anymore, Amalia’s lips curved slightly.
He finally knew to be cautious.
The information about the spirit core was something she found in the books within her upgraded Soltice Ring.
The books inside were extensive, especially those on esoteric topics that even the Green Lotus Sect’s library didn’t have.
The method for extracting spirit cores was mentioned in the books, but it required a container.
Once a spirit core leaves its original place, if not properly contained, its energy would dissipate rapidly.
Therefore, extracting a spirit core was always a troublesome task, and it required a certain level of cultivation.
Amalia had a container—the Soltice Ring itself was the perfect container.
Amalia tried using the method described in the book, chanting an array of obscure incantations.
However, these incantations had no effect, disappearing without a trace, and she knew she had failed.
Either her cultivation level was too low to extract a spirit core, or the spirit core was too large.
Ultimately, it came down to her insufficient cultivation.
She gave up and turned around to find Kenny Lin, who was causing a slight commotion.
It was like a stone thrown into the ocean, creating ripples that quickly disappeared.
When she reached him, she saw two young devils pinned to the ground by Kenny Lin.
The confusion and fear on their faces showed their disbelief—how could the human cultivators they had previously toyed with now easily defeat them?
"How did it go?" Kenny Lin asked when he saw her approaching.
Amalia shook her head, "It’s not working. My cultivation level is still too low to extract the spirit core."
The faces of the two young devils changed dramatically the moment they saw Amalia.
They finally believed the news about Erod and Orzoth—he had an accomplice.
Kenny Lin wasn’t too surprised.
Amalia asked, "Did you get any information?"
Kenny Lin’s face turned furious as he spoke, "These two devils are utterly useless. They even let a severely injured human cultivator escape. They’re worse than garbage."
"Indeed, worse than garbage," Amalia agreed.
She understood that Ajit Wan probably had some life-saving measures.
If Ajit Wan found out that Erod and Orzoth were dead, he would surely realize that the spirit core had fallen into Kenny Lin’s hands.
He would also know that Kenny Lin had been playing dumb.
"Finish them off, then come with me," Amalia said before walking away.
Kenny Lin dealt the final blow to the devils and followed her.
The two of them returned to the spirit core.
"This thing is quite large. It’s impossible to take it away in a short time. What do you plan to do?" Kenny Lin asked.
Amalia said, "I don’t plan to take it away. I’m going to absorb it directly. The Yin-Yang Pearl in your body needs a lot of energy, and this spirit core might be able to repair a significant portion of it."
Kenny Lin didn’t respond immediately.
Instead, he asked, "I remember your ring’s space also has a crack."
Amalia nodded, "I originally planned to absorb it together, but someone needs to keep watching since other people could arrive at any moment. The problem with my ring’s space isn’t too urgent. We just entered the secret realm, and there are many places we haven’t explored yet, so there’s no rush. You go first."
Kenny Lin thought for a moment and agreed.
If he didn’t, Amalia would likely force him to.
