Chapter 606: Sunshadow City (Part 3)
"No," Kenny Lin’s eyes lit up, "We shouldn’t bother with those two leader-level devils. Now that Sunshadow City is down to two leaders, it’s more advantageous for us. If we attack the leaders outside the city, the Sunshadow City will tighten its defenses even more once they hear the news."
"I understand. Should we use the Concealment Pill then?" Amalia asked.
"Yes, with half a day, we might even have another chance to strike," Kenny Lin said, his eyes gleaming with killing intent, a smile playing on his lips.
In order to prevent the leader-level devil from returning, they decided to act swiftly.
Kenny Lin swallowed a Concealment Pill first.
Amalia stood beside him, feeling his familiar aura, thick and palpable, disappear in an instant.
Though he stood right in front of her, she could no longer sense his presence.
The top-grade Concealment Pill lived up to its reputation with excellent effectiveness.
"Be careful," Amalia reminded him before he set off.
Kenny Lin made an "okay" gesture and vanished into the underbrush.
A concealed Golden Core cultivator infiltrating a Level 9 devil city without even the great leader-level devil noticing was impressive.
Amalia couldn’t see what was happening inside and waited anxiously outside.
About ten minutes later, a massive explosion echoed from Sunshadow City.
A thunderous roar reverberated through the city, startling the devils within.
The city lord’s sudden outburst puzzled everyone.
Immediately, alarm bells signaled an enemy attack.
Some devils hadn’t even figured out what was happening when a powerful force struck from the sky, collapsing the buildings and crushing the devils into dust.
From outside, Amalia saw a white light streak across the sky from Sunshadow City, heading far away.
Following it was an even stronger force, radiating an intense anger and surrounded by thick black smoke, moving faster than the first light.
Both of them soon disappeared into the horizon.
Amalia prayed that nothing would happen to Kenny Lin.
She couldn’t let him face danger without reason.
She looked back at the chaotic Sunshadow City and also took a Concealment Pill.
Inside the city, the two leader-level devils intended to assist the city lord, but he ordered them to handle the internal affairs properly before he left.
The attackers were ruthless, using the aura of their Golden Core stage to kill most of the lower-ranked and civilian devils in the city, and injuring many soldiers.
One of the leader-level devils was targeted as well.
If the city lord had not reacted promptly, the sword strike would have killed him.
The intruders who dared to attack Sunshadow City were likely Nascent Soul stage cultivators among humans.
The city lord saw an opportunity for a great accomplishment if he could kill the intruder.
As he amassed enough merit, not only could the city lord be promoted, but he could also gain more resources than before.
This leader-level devil thought excitedly to himself.
Little did he know, that when Kenny Lin struck him and left a serious wound, the city lord had already realized he was only at the Golden Core stage.
Otherwise, he wouldn’t have pursued him, let alone be so furious at being injured by a Golden Core cultivator.
If news of this spread, other Level 9 city lords would surely mock him, which would become a major stain on his life.
That’s why, before this stain could spread, the city lord wanted to kill Kenny Lin.
"Get the wounded down for treatment."
The two leader-level devils began directing their subordinates, maintaining vigilance while seeking assistance.
However, little did they anticipate that a human cultivator at the level of warrior-level devils would dare to ambush them.
Amidst the chaos in Sunshadow City, Amalia silently infiltrated behind one of them.
She assessed the distance between the two leader-level devils.
It was over a hundred meters apart, with many devils moving in and out in between.
Even if they noticed her, it would take them at least three to four seconds to rush over.
She needed to strike down one of the leader-level devils within that time frame, or she would be caught in both of their encirclement.
Amalia took a deep breath and a determination shining in her eyes.
Amalia placed a top-grade Concealment pill into her mouth, and her blade instantly exploded with power.
In just a second of concentrated energy, she leaped swiftly and appeared behind the leader-level devil.
The devil immediately sensed a powerful disturbance behind him and quickly realized that the earlier intruder had an accomplice.
Mistaking Amalia for a Nascent Soul stage cultivator, the devil’s instinctual reaction was not to counterattack but to defend himself.
He sensed that the killing intent was firmly locked onto him, so intense that it made him tremble with fear.
"Four Gods Blade!"
Amalia shouted lowly, and a blade aura that was surged into the sky, swiftly descending.
Breaking through the devil’s defense, it revealed a face filled with fear and shock.
Another leader-level devil who is stood over a hundred meters away from them roared furiously and charged over.
Within three to four seconds, Amalia had prepared her blade aura in one second, killed one leader-level devil in two seconds, and swiftly moved from her original location, leaving behind a pit that has been blasted by a fist.
Another leader-level devil had already rushed over, roaring and attacking Amalia fiercely, each punch creating sonic booms in the air.
Amalia did not evade but instead took these punches head-on, using this opportunity to unleash the Four Gods’ Blade once more.
The pill in her mouth had already dissolved when she killed the first leader-level devil.
The pill’s medicinal properties began to disperse, nourishing her depleted spiritual veins and quickly replenishing her lost spiritual energy.
Her blade’s edge rose once again.
The leader-level devil suddenly realized something.
During their earlier battle, he had sensed that this human intruder, despite concealing her aura, was not as powerful as the blade aura she displayed.
Even though she masked her strength, he discerned that she only possessed the strength of a warrior-level devil.
