Chapter 506: Emergency (Part 9)

"A chance? So the success rate isn’t very high," Amalia said as she took out an intermediate level spiritual artifact and tossed it to her.

Yesemia Yoder instinctively caught it, intending to ask what she meant.

As soon as she held it, she realized it was an intermediate level spiritual artifact, and her eyes widened, "You can also refien intermediate level spiritual artifacts?"

Amalia calmly replied, "This is one of the several intermediate level spiritual artifacts I refined a few months ago. Out of ten sets of materials, I can successfully refine at least eight intermediate level weapons."

"Impossible!"

Yesemia Yoder’s voice sharpened with agitation.

Seeing her strong reaction, Amalia didn’t mention that she had intentionally understated her success rate, which was actually higher than eighty percent.

While Yesemia Yoder could also refine intermediate level spiritual artifacts, her success rate was very low.

If Amalia could successfully refine eight out of ten sets of materials, Yesemia Yoder might only succeed with one, or even fewer.

An intermediate level spiritual artifact is not something that can be achieved through talent alone.

Yesemia Yoder had always believed this.

She never thought her talent was lacking; she believed her current inability to increase her success rate was due to the difficulty of refined intermediate level spiritual artifacts.

As for advanced level spiritual artifacts, those things were like a legendary things for her and even less within her reach.

But if Amalia could effortlessly refine intermediate level spiritual artifacts, how far could advanced level spiritual artifacts be from her grasp?

Amalia took back her intermediate level spiritual artifact and, before leaving, said, "Whether you believe it or not, I’m truly not interested in competing with you. I have more important matters to attend to."

Seeing Yesemia Yoder so disheartened, the onlookers stopped urging for a match.

Amalia smoothly made her way to Professor Frans’s office.

"I heard you discouraged the Yoder family’s witch at the school gate?"

Professor Frans said as he looked up, not at all surprised to see her.

Amalia smiled, "Does the news travel that fast around here?"

"Not for everyone," Professor Frans replied.

Amalia shrugged her shoulder, "Professor, do you know about the situation deep in the central disaster zone?"

"What situation?"

Professor Frans’s expression turned serious, sensing something significant in her words.

Amalia immediately realized that he was unaware.

The government must have kept it tightly under wraps.

If even Professor Frans didn’t know, most of the instructors at Heavenly Path University were likely still doesn’t know about it.

She wondered if Dean Kirilova knew about it.

Professor Frans had always treated her well and fulfilled his responsibilities as a mentor.

She had come to warn him, so the Heavenly Path University could also be prepared.

"It’s about Mr. Lin and several top-tier spiritual cultivators that was venturing deep into the central disaster zone to launch a surprise attack on that mutated creature."

"I know a little bit about that, but didn’t it fail?" Professor Frans asked.

Amalia explained to him about Mr. Lin’s discovery, the greatest threat to humanity being not the mutated creatures but something possibly existing underwater.

"Are you sure?"

Professor Frans instantly became serious, his expression grave.

"Kenny Lin and I plan to investigate further," Amalia said.

"Ridiculous," Professor Frans scolded, "We don’t even know what’s in there, but it must be extremely dangerous. Whether that mutated creature is willing or not, good or bad, it remains an enemy of humanity. With your and Kenny Lin’s current cultivation levels, do you think you can handle it? If you die in there, don’t expect us to retrieve your bodies."

Despite Professor Frans’s harsh words, Amalia still felt a hint of warmth from his words.

"Mr. Lin has already agreed."

Professor Frans frowned, "Has he lost his mind?"

Amalia couldn’t help but smile, "We won’t be reckless. We’ll proceed it with caution and prioritize our safety first."

"Even so, it’s still too dangerous. And the higher-ups are just letting this happen?" Professor Frans was very displeased.

Amalia remained silent.

Professor Frans’s face grew increasingly grim, "This is absurd. They’re leaving such an important matter to you two youngsters."

Amalia reminded him, "The Zhao family will also send their spiritual cultivators to support us."

"That’s still too few. You and Kenny Lin shouldn’t rush off. I’ll discuss this with the school. If no one else wants to help, Heavenly Path University will. If needed, I’ll go with you."

Professor Frans, in his typical fiery manner, immediately informed Laurence Kirilova about the situation.

However, Laurence Kirilova advised him to stay out of it.

Just as Professor Frans was about to retort, Laurence Kirilova’s words on the other end of the communicator extinguished his anger.

"Do you really think the Lin family’s youngsters need your concern? The higher-ups won’t leave the initiative solely to the Lin and Zhao families. They’ll certainly send their people secretly and just to make sure they stay on the periphery."

After listening, Professor Frans calmly ended the call, "Did you hear that? When you get there, others will handle the more dangerous parts. Don’t rush to your deaths."

Amalia smiled, "I heard it. Thank you, Professor."

Professor Frans waved his hand impatiently, "Get out of here. Next time, I hope to see you in person, not just hear about you."

"I will."

Amalia walked to the door, said her goodbyes, and left.

...

Before Amalia and Kenny Lin set off, Mr. Lin summoned them for a conversation.

His message was surprisingly similar to that of Dean Kirilova: they should stick to the periphery and avoid going too deep into the heart of the central disaster zone.

Kenny Lin didn’t take his words seriously as always, but Amalia agreed on his behalf.

As soon as they left, Amalia asked Kenny Lin.

"Why do both Mr. Lin and Dean Kirilova say that? Isn’t it decided by those above that the Lin family and the Zhao family should be the one who investigate it?"

"That’s why the higher-ups are so deceitful. Don’t learn it from them. It’s all just a show for others and they’re pretending to be righteous," Kenny Lin replied disdainfully.
