Chapter 442: The Beginning Of The War (Part 10)

The killing intent from the mutated creatures is direct and unfiltered; they do not hide their killing intention.

This killing intent, however, was concealed quickly, leading her to conclude that the source was not a mutated creature, but likely from someone nearby.

On the battlefield, there were only two groups who might want her dead: the Rodriguez family and the Yoder family.

Amalia could think of no one else.

Amalia glanced around, observing the Rodriguez and Yoder family members, who were quite far away.

Even if they wanted her dead, it would be difficult from such a distance.

Then, her attention shifted to the people around her.

There, she spotted a particularly conspicuous person—a bald man being pursued by a Brown Mantuleaf.

Amalia narrowed her eyes, noting that the bald man’s cultivation level should be enough to handle the Brown Mantuleaf without being pushed back.

Upon closer inspection, she observed that while it appeared the bald man was being forced back by the Brown Mantuleaf, he was subtly steering it toward her.

Amalia came up with a plan and pretended not to notice the bald man.

"Hey, if you’re out of Amulets, you should get lost!"

An impatient voice suddenly called out.

Amalia turned and saw Holden Trueno’s displeased face.

He looked at her as if she were an annoying fly.

Amalia took a moment to ponder.

Was this guy actually worried about her?

He probably noticed her Amulets were running low, sp she quickly pulled out a handful of her own, saying, "I haven’t run out."

Holden Trueno’s mouth twitched, "Damn it."

People who flaunt their wealth should just go away—now he wished he had left her to die.

Seeing his displeased expression, Amalia allowed a faint smile to flash in her eyes, before turning her attention back to the bald man.

"Help! Help!" the bald man shouted as he ran toward her, hiding behind Amalia, "This Brown Mantuleaf is too powerful!"

"Don’t worry, I’ll handle it," Amalia said righteously, then strode forward.

The bald man showed a smug smile of satisfaction.

Instead of throwing an Amulet, Amalia took out her spiritual weapon and slashed at the Brown Mantuleaf, cutting it in half in an instant without needing to use the Eight Gods Blade.

As she attacked, the bald man also made his move.

The bald man’s face showed the satisfaction of success.

He didn’t dare to make his intentions too obvious.

If anyone saw him kill Amalia, he wouldn’t be able to leave this place unscathed.

The bald man held a dagger and approached Amalia from behind.

He raised his hand, ready to stab, but suddenly his body froze.

Why can’t he move?

The bald man’s face suddenly showed terror.

At this moment, Amalia finished off the Brown Mantuleaf and turned around, seeing the bald man’s frightened expression, which he had expected.

He stepped aside, revealing the bald man’s poised stance, ready to strike.

Holden Trueno initially thought Amalia was acting suspiciously, but upon seeing the dagger in the bald man’s hand, his expression immediately changed, "Damn it, what’s wrong with this guy? Why is he trying to attack you from behind?"

He particularly hated sneak attacks from behind.

If someone has the skill, they should fight openly.

Especially on the battlefield, attacking one’s own people is even more disgraceful.

Their enemy is the mutated creatures, not each other, no matter how big the grudge between them.

These people should be focused on killing mutated creatures rather than attacking their kind from behind.

It’s simply unforgivable.

"No, I’m not trying to hurt her. I just wanted to help her take down the Brown Mantuleaf," the bald man quickly explained, realizing he couldn’t move.

He was now at the mercy of others.

Holden Trueno scoffed, "Do you think my eyes are just for decoration?"

Seeing that Holden Trueno was more upset than he was, Amalia smiled and said, "Focus on fighting the mutated creatures; I’ll handle this."

Holden Trueno’s expression changed again, "What I do is none of your business."

With that, he turned away and stopped paying attention.

He just hated this kind of person.

"I really was just trying to help you," the bald man tried to explain again, but inside, he felt a growing sense of dread.

Amalia didn’t respond, but the spiritual energy around her began to surge.

The bald man’s face changed drastically, realizing Amalia was serious.

He quickly said, "I’m a member of the Spiritual Cultivators Association; you can’t harm me."

"It turns out you are from the Spiritual Cultivators Association. You must be an accomplice of Jacinto Luque. Did he send you to kill me?"

Amalia had been pondering which faction the bald man belonged to and who had a big enough grudge to want him dead.

As soon as she heard about the Spiritual Cultivators Association, he remembered Jacinto Luque, who had been expelled from the association.

Moreover, Jacinto Luque was under Vice President Pablo Turrion.

Could Vice President Pablo Turrion also be involved?

The bald man’s face stiffened as he tried to subtly break free from his constraints.

Just a little bit more time, and he would be able to...

A faint killing intent flashed through Amalia’s eyes, and she acted just in time.

The blade struck suddenly, piercing the bald man’s abdomen, causing blood to flow profusely.

"You..." The bald man stared wide-eyed at her.

"Did you really think I would let someone who wanted to kill me go?" Amalia’s cold and ruthless demeanor returned, making her look like a cold-blooded killer.

The bald man dropped to his knees heavily, the constraints around him disappearing.

"How did you find out?"

The bald man clutched his wound and stared at Amalia, full of resentment.

At this point, he stopped struggling in vain.

He thought his plan was perfect and hadn’t guarded against anyone else.

Why had Amalia been the only one to guard against him?

Holden Trueno secretly listened in, also wanting to know the answer.

In that situation, he wouldn’t have noticed anything.

Amalia replied, "You were too conspicuous."

She then glanced at the bald man’s head.

The bald man: "..."

Holden Trueno: "..."
