Chapter 434: The Beginning Of The War (Part 2)
The lightning hammer clashed head-on with the Yellow Owlfire’s sharp beak and pointed tip, causing the latter to repeatedly retreat.
Soon enough, the Yellow Owlfire was at a disadvantage.
Other high-level mutated creatures saw this and could no longer stay still.
The initial setback was not promising, and if their strongest were to be defeated, it would spell trouble.
They had received good news from other locations and could not allow these victories to be monopolized.
A high-level mutated creature flew out from the rear, immediately blocking the sun and casting a massive shadow over the sky.
"It’s the Purple Pavoraiah!" Voices of surprise echoed from within the city.
The Purple Pavoraiah was a level 14 high-level mutated creature, formidable in strength and always accompanied by a putrid, unpleasant odor.
Its crown consisted of striking black feathers, while its belly and back were a vibrant orange. However, beneath this attractive plumage lay deadly toxins.
There were rumors that the Purple Pavoraiah’s toxins were among the synthetic devouring poisons.
The Purple Pavoraiah’s combat ability was far superior to that of the Yellow Owlfire.
"I’ll handle this."
General Silva stepped forward.
His cultivation level was at the Tier 1 intermediate stage, making him a suitable match for the Purple Pavoraiah.
But just as he flew into the sky, another figure moved faster than him.
"Kenny!"
Tony Lin shouted out in surprise.
They had discussed this earlier, but this scenario had not been planned.
He quickly turned to the old man, "Father, Kenny...?"
"Let it go. If he’s taking action, he must be confident."
Mr. Lin recognized the situation immediately and chose not to stop him, placing his trust in his younger son.
"But..." Tony Lin seemed to want to say more, but perhaps due to the people around them, he held his tongue.
Mr. Lin knew what his son wanted to say and gently shook his head.
Amalia looked up at the sky.
Kenny Lin said something to her before flying up into the air, but she didn’t have time to respond.
She watched for a while and, seeing that he was holding his own against the Purple Pavoraiah, she felt somewhat relieved.
"Hey, are you trying to die? What are you standing around for?"
A voice full of panic suddenly sounded.
Amalia turned to meet the anxious gaze of an officer who pulled her into their squad before she could say anything.
This was a small team of about a dozen people, all military personnel except for her.
These soldiers were one of the teams assigned to attack airborne mutated creatures.
They had two devices that could launch fireball projectiles.
Some mutated creatures were hit by the fireballs, their feathers catching fire and quickly turning to charcoal before plummeting from the sky.
"You’re a student from Heavenly Path University, right? First time participating in this kind of battle? It’s normal to be shocked. Just follow the others and operate the equipment to attack; the experienced ones will teach you how to do it."
The officer said this and then joined the battle himself.
"Newcomer, over here."
A soldier, who looked to be around thirty years old, immediately called out to Amalia.
The battlefield was too loud, with voices coming from all directions, so people had to shout to be heard.
Amalia didn’t explain and followed the soldier’s instructions.
The soldier pulled her by the hand and placed her in his position, shouting, "This spot is yours! Do you know how to operate this equipment? If not, I’ll teach you."
"It’s simple. Just aim at the target and fire. Shoot whichever mutated creature gets close. Got it?"
Amalia understood the process just by looking at it, but she didn’t turn down the soldiers’s enthusiasm, "I understand. Thank you."
The soldier flashed a bright smile, "No need to thank me. Just focus on staying alive."
The sky was filled with the Blue Vampasloth, while the Brown Mantuleaf were constantly climbing up from below the city wall.
Their mantis arms swung like the scythe of death, leaving deep marks outside the city wall and even cutting through steel.
They had to guard against the Blue Vampasloth in the sky and prevent the Brown Mantuleaf from climbing up from below.
The dozen or so people were almost too busy to speak.
Amalia operated the device in her hands, launching a fireball that brought down several of the Blue Vampasloth.
These devices were crafted by artificers and were a unique creation of the military.
They were simple yet very practical.
The devices had several amulet files on the outside, allowing any attribute amulet to be inserted.
Different amulets could release different spiritual energies.
For example, a fire-type amulet was currently being used, so the projectiles being launched were fireballs.
The team worked together, and before long, they started feeling that the fight was becoming easier.
This seemed impossible.
Normally, the longer a fight goes on, the more exhausting it becomes because these mutated creatures are different from humans; they do not retreat due to the death of their own kind.
Instead, they continue to surge forward, as if sacrificing themselves for a ritual.
Everyone soon realized why the fight seemed easier.
"Newcomer, your skills are impressive," the officer remarked as he noticed Amalia’s composed demeanor.
He observed her for a moment and saw that every time she fired, she would hit several of the Blue Vampasloth.
Her rhythm was steady, and she didn’t panic even though there were mutated creatures from all directions.
"So, it was you," the other soldiers said when they heard the officer’s words.
They realized that their pressure from the air assault had significantly decreased.
Without them noticing, a mound of Blue Vampasloth corpses had piled up nearby.
Amalia glanced at his epaulets and smiled, "It’s thanks to the sergeant’s good command."
The officer smiled back, "No need for flattery; I didn’t really command anything. Your own skill is impressive; keep it up and kill more mutated creatures."
After he finished speaking, Amalia fired another shot, hitting a Green Morphaloth that was trying to sneak up on the officer from behind. At the same time, she said, "Green Morphaloth are approaching from this direction."
