Chapter 421: Secret Plan (Part 2)

Amalia asked, "Were there any witnesses?"

Kenny Lin looked at her as if she were joking, "How could I have remembered witnesses? Remembering Diego Luna is already an achievement. If he hadn’t been from Heavenly Path, I might have killed a lot of Heavenly Path students..."

He counted on his fingers.

Amalia said, "You should be more careful. What do you mean, ’a lot of Heavenly Path students’? It sounds like you’ve killed many. If you say that in front of others, watch out—I might hit you."

Kenny Lin chuckled, "I know my girlfriend cares very much about me. I can stop talking about it if you prefer."

"What about Eduardo Norierga? He seemed to be a mercenary."

Kenny Lin suddenly sighed, "That one’s tricky."

Amalia immediately became serious, "Is there no one who can back you up?"

That could be a problem.

"No," Kenny Lin said, "I’ve killed too many mercenaries to remember, so who’s Eduardo Norierga? I can’t even recall what he looks like."

Amalia suddenly felt a little bit itchy-handed.

This guy almost scared her, "We’ll talk about this later. Let’s get back on track. Why don’t you return to the city and inform the old man? Let them increase their defenses while Wealth and I will go to gather more information."

Kenny Lin looked up at the sky, "Today’s weather is quite nice. The sky is very blue."

Amalia was puzzled by his actions and instinctively glanced up, "We’re discussing serious matters here. What’s the weather got to do with it?"

"It has everything to do with it. Daydreaming isn’t good," Kenny Lin said seriously.

This time, Amalia couldn’t help but roll her eyes.

He wasn’t going to do it, yet he talks about daydreaming.

Kenny Lin narrowed his eyes and his pupils revealing a hint of danger, "My Wife, your thought is very dangerous. Trying to get rid of me? Not in this life, or the next, or even the one after that. I will cling to you for all lifetimes, making you feel suffocated even in your sleep."

Amalia: "I was just saying it as an option. You could have just disagreed, was there a need for all that?"

Kenny Lin huffed, "Of course, there was a need. I want you to know that even if I become a ghost, I’ll haunt you relentlessly. I’ll follow you in life and death, whether as one of your family in life or a ghost of your family in death."

Amalia: "..."

Gathering a beast wave isn’t easy, and doing it while avoiding detection by humans is even harder.

Amalia didn’t bring up the idea of having Kenny Lin return to the city to relay the information.

From the two mutated creatures, they learned that the high-level mutated creatures did have a plan, but it was still in progress, meaning they still had time.

Fruit City is inland, so those participating in the attack would likely be land-type or flying-type mutated creatures.

Land-type mutated creatures weren’t much trouble; the most challenging part of human defense efforts had always been the flying-type mutated creatures because humans can only fly once their cultivation level reached Tier 2.

The two decided to first visit the territory of one of the high-level mutated creatures.

This particular high-level mutated creature was an Owlfire with a strong territory, and it was the closest to them, just an hour away.

The area was a lush, mountainous region with groups of mutated creatures occasionally flying overhead.

By sight, they could vaguely identify the different types of mutated creatures.

"Are those flying mutated locusts is the Red Noctust?" Amalia asked, trying to identify them.

Kenny Lin, being a level one expert, had better eyesight, "Yes, they are the Red Noctust."

Amalia frowned slightly. "I remember the Red Noctust has the strongest attack power among the locust species. It’s surprising they are under the Owlfire’s command. If an attack on the city is initiated, these Red Noctust might become one of the main forces. Let’s continue forward and see what other mutated creatures we can find."

They continued onward, guided by the lingering sunset.

The sun was about to set, and the central disaster zone was beginning to enter darkness.

The denser forests were already pitch black.

This was to their advantage since mutated creatures occasionally patrolled the skies.

Daytime would make it easy to be spotted, so nighttime was the best time to move.

The mountain area was expansive, with dense forests.

They moved quickly, blending into the darkness, making it hard for the airborne mutated creatures to notice them.

Soon, they entered the Owlfire’s territory.

The trees here were less dense, and in the darkness, it was evident that many trees had been cut down.

Green leaves littered the ground.

"These mutated creatures are quite clever," Amalia remarked.

If they hadn’t cut the branches, someone could easily hide in the trees or under them, making it difficult for airborne mutated creatures to spot them.

Receiving no response, Amalia turned to Kenny Lin and saw him staring at a tree with a puzzled expression.

"Baby, does that tree look like the blue skin tree you’ve been searching for?"

Amalia was surprised and examined it carefully for a few seconds before coming to a speechless conclusion, "It really is a blue skin tree, but..."

Kenny Lin raised an eyebrow.

"The tree rings on this blue skin tree aren’t high. It seems to be only a century or two old."

Amalia spoke while observing the surrounding trees, discovering they were all blue skin trees.

If the branches hadn’t been cut and it wasn’t so dark, she would have recognized them immediately.

They accidentally stumbled upon blue skin trees.

"In other disaster zones, the century or two old blue skin trees would have already been cut down," Kenny Lin said.

Amalia examined the surroundings closely before saying, "If I’m not mistaken, these cut blue skin trees might be from the outer area, while the ones inside could be older."

"Looks like we stumbled upon this by chance," Kenny Lin said, holding back a whistle.
