Chapter 287: Spiritual Cultivator Association’s Investigation (Part 2)
The fact that representatives from the Spiritual Cultivator Association had intervened indicated something significant.
The new evidence came from an eyewitness, the sole survivor of the Meteorite ore vein explosion, who came forward to testify against Amalia’s actions.
They claimed that Amalia had deceived them into detonating the vein, which later attracted the Level 11 Sea Monster.
The testimony caused a sensation at Heavenly Path University, especially among the families of the deceased.
They had never believed that their loved ones had simply died like that.
After being stirred up, they jump up and demanded justice from the association.
However, Lucia Lopez quickly stepped forward, and accusing the witness for lying.
She emphasized that the Meteorite ore vein explosion had nothing to do with Amalia; But, it was caused by the greed of those people that led to it.
She also claimed that the news about the Meteorite ore vein was intentionally spread by Rasler Yoder to lure everyone there.
If anyone were to be held accountable, Rasler Yoder was the culprit.
With both sides sticking to their stories, despite Rasler Yoder’s complaint to the Spiritual Cultivator Association, they couldn’t issue a warrant for Amalia due to insufficient evidence and the constraints imposed by Heavenly Path University.
Unexpectedly, the Spiritual Cultivator Association was relentless and decided to act first, apprehending Amalia before reporting back.
"Who’s this so-called survivor and how did they suddenly appear?"
"If Rasler Yoder had this person in his grasp at the time, why didn’t he make a big move from the start? He waited until now. Unless this person was found after she left the school."
"We’re still investigating," replied Kenny Lin.
Amalia recalled that everyone she saw back then had died, "Are you sure this person is truly a survivor?"
"Yes."
The sun was about to setting as they walked together, casting warm hues on Kenny Lin faces, and softening his sharp angles.
"Then they must have appeared later," Amalia concluded.
It seemed they hadn’t checked thoroughly at the time, allowing Rasler Yoder to find a survivor and subsequently bribe them to slander her.
Clearly, this matter was far from over.
Within two days, the Spiritual Cultivator Association came knocking again, but this time they went to Heavenly Path University.
Lucia Lopez and her brother had been on the same team as Amalia before.
Their testimony couldn’t be fully trusted, so it couldn’t be considered decisive evidence.
Therefore, the Spiritual Cultivator Association submitted a new application, requesting Amalia to undergo further investigation.
This time it was a formal request, backed by reason, and Heavenly Path University couldn’t outright reject it anymore.
Amalia had no choice but to visit the Spiritual Cultivator Association.
As she neared the association’s gate, she saw two groups of people standing there.
"Zacarias Campos, if I remember correctly, this matter was delegated to me by the association. What are you doing here?"
Jacinto Luque frowned disapprovingly at the man who’s standing confidently beside him.
They were both the members of the association, but also competitors.
"Of course, I’m here to pick up an important person," Zacarias Campos replied calmly.
"An important person?" Jacinto Luque scoffed, "I see you’re here to snatch the suspect from me. We’re following proper procedures for arrest now. Are you trying to break the rules?"
Zacarias Campos squinted, "Firstly, let me correct you. She’s not a criminal, she just a suspect. So, watch your language. Secondly, she’s here to assist with the investigation. Who’s breaking the rules here?"
Jacinto Luque snorted, "That’s not necessarily true. With solid evidence, once you step into the association’s gate, whether you leave or not depends on my decision."
Zacarias Campos chuckled, "Well, I’ll wait to see about that."
Just then, Amalia was brought over.
"Are you Amalia, the suspect who harmed dozens of Spiritual Cultivator?" Jacinto Luque’s eyes gleamed with pressure, as if intentionally trying to intimidate Amalia.
"And are you Jacinto Luque, who abuses power for personal gain, accepts bribes, and conspires with the Yoder family to harm others?"
Amalia retorted before Zacarias Campos could even speak.
She observe Jacinto Luque’s expression who change from surprise to anger, which brought a smile to her face.
Amalia recognized him; someone had mentioned him before she came here.
The person from the Spiritual Cultivator Association who had been sent to arrest her last time was also one of Jacinto Luque’s men, who had taken bribes from the Yoder family.
"You’re just spouting nonsense!" Jacinto Luque’s face turned ashen with anger.
"Whether it’s true or not, you’ll find out later," Amalia fearlessly replied.
Jacinto Luque’s chest heaved with rage, his eyes glaring at her like a cold, venomous snake, "Once you’re in my hands, we’ll see if you’re still so tough."
Zacarias Campos didn’t give him a chance to assert authority, he smiling at Amalia and said, "You no need to worry. You’re here just for a routine investigation. If he dares to resort to extrajudicial measures, you won’t have to wait long; someone will deal with him."
Amalia nodded her head gently, "Thank you, Mr. Campos."
"Zacarias Campos!"
Jacinto Luque exploded in embarrassment and anger as the table was turned against him.
"Was I wrong in what I said, or were you planning to resort to extrajudicial measures from the start?" Zacarias Campos squinted his eyes.
Jacinto Luque immediately fell silent.
Even if he had such thoughts, he wouldn’t say them out loud, and giving them leverage.
With Zacarias Campos supervising them nearby, Jacinto Luque couldn’t employ any underhanded tactics.
So, he could only summon the survivor to confront Amalia.
Jacinto Luque threw an accusation in front of Amalia, "The evidence is conclusive. What do you have to say for yourself?"
"How much did they bribe you?" Amalia looked at the survivor.
The survivor lowered his head.
Amalia continued, "You’re truly foolish. No matter how many benefits you receive, you still have to consider your own life. Offending two powerful factions, neither side will spare you. What’s the point?"
"You think I wanted this? It’s because..."
