Chapter 206: Form A Team (Part 2)
Lucia Lopes’s brother had participated in the Heavenly Path University assessment last year alongside Lucia Lopes.
Because it was his fifth assessment, his reputation had already spread in the entire school.
After being recognized, Lucia Lopes’s brother was publicly ridiculed by a few people.
Sebastian Caceres was one of them, and Lucia Lopes had always kept this incident in her mind.
This time, due to unforeseen circumstances, Lucia Lopes didn’t appear.
On the surface, she seemingly replaced Amalia in Class 9, but in fact, it gave her a legitimate opportunity to ask for a challenge, "It’s not that she didn’t retaliate, but the time hadn’t come yet."
After everyone learned the details, they were all surprised.
Later, a saying circulated around the school - "Don’t be like Sebastian Caceres, or you’ll end up like him."
As the challenge concluded, the day of the new disaster zone’s training experience finally arrived.
Amalia and Mighel Zepeda were no longer in the same class, but most of the Class 9 students were in Class 5.
For the training experience in the new disaster zone, they spontaneously formed several small teams, and aiming for stability on their first trip to the new disaster zone.
The disaster zone training involves both the Martial Arts College and the Literature College, so students from the Weaponry Department will team up with students from the Artifact Refining College.
Once there is an issue arises with the artifacts, having a fellow Artificer makes a significant difference.
Amalia is the top student in the Artifact Refining College, and her skill in repairing artifacts should be also quite impressive.
However, unexpectedly, not many people approach her to form a team.
Instead, her defeated opponent, Rasler Yoder, who is very popular.
Upon careful consideration, Amalia realizes the reason.
Although she is ranked first, Rasler Yoder had spent the previous semester building a connection with students from two different academies.
Those students, even if they admire Amalia, they are not likely to immediately approach her just because she replaced Rasler Yoder from the top spot.
Team organization for training requires not only the other person’s strength but also someone one who can be trusted, and entrusts one’s safety to the other with peace of mind.
Amalia has always been a loner, and people are not familiar with her.
It’s normal that they don’t seek her out for a team, and she also doesn’t mind either.
She continues to do her own thing, with no intention of seeking out others to form a team.
Seeing that there were only two days left until the disaster zone training began, Mighel Zepeda and the others became anxious.
"This can’t go on like this. The disaster zone is so dangerous; I’m afraid Amalia alone may struggle to handle it. If she encounters a group of mutated creatures, it’ll be disastrous," Mighel Zepeda was very distressed.
"If our disaster zone level matched with Amalia’s, we could have formed a team with her by ourselves. Those people are really blind; She is so formidable that teaming up with her is like having several teammates. Such short-sighted individuals," Elena Sandoval grits her teeth.
"I remember Javier Hermandez is also in the same class as Amalia. Isn’t he quite familiar with her?" Douglas Valentina suddenly reminds everyone.
"Yeah, where’s Javier Hermandez? This jerk. Could it be that he doesn’t want to team up with Amalia because of those rumors?" Elena Sandoval speculates.
The person whom Class 9 has been keeping an eye on, Javier Hermandez, is now standing in front of Amalia, looking very embarrassed as he tentatively extends an invitation to team up.
"Amalia, if you don’t mind my average strength, can we team up?" Javier Hermandez nervously asks.
If he knew what Class 9 was thinking, he would surely protest.
It’s not that he doesn’t want to team up with Amalia; in fact, he really does want to team up with her but he is afraid.
Like them, he worries that he might become a burden for Amalia.
So, he is quite hesitant when he proposes to form a team with her.
Amalia responds, "Sure."
"I promise, I will do my best not to hold you back..." Javier Hermandez says halfway before suddenly stopping, and widening his eyes.
Did Amalia just agree?
"Sorry to interrupt. May I disturb you for a moment?"
Suddenly a modest and polite voice sounds from behind Javier Hermandez.
Amalia had noticed her earlier, but did not recognize her as Lucia Lopes, this was their first official meeting.
Javier Hermandez turns and calls out her name, "Lucia Lopes?"
Lucia Lopes’s eyes had bloodshot veins, as if she hadn’t slept for several days.
She stared directly at Amalia and said, "Amalia, I sincerely apologize for skipping our previous challenge. Can I join your team for this training session?"
Javier Hermandez opened his mouth wide, and confused by the situation.
He looked at Amalia, knowing he couldn’t make the decision.
"Sure," Amalia responded without hesitation, just as she didn’t rejected Javier Hermandez earlier.
"Thank you, let’s exchange contact information. On the day of departure, I’ll wait for you guys at the school gate," Lucia Lopes said, while revealing a faint smile.
However, it look like it was forced due to the inner turmoil she was hiding.
The truth is she doesn’t have a mood to laugh in her heart and she also still had a lot of things in her mind.
If it weren’t for knowing about her brother’s situation, those people who unaware might think she was unwilling to team up with them.
After exchanging contact information with her, Lucia Lopes left.
"It’s weird, why did Lucia Lopes suddenly want to team up with us?" Javier Hermandez looked puzzled.
With Lucia Lopes’s strength and reputation, she would have people approaching her to form a team without her having to seek them out by herself.
"I don’t know. You should go back and get ready," Amalia said, and then turning around and leaving.
On the other side, Jaime Domigo also had a similar question for Lucia Lopes.
