Chapter 188: Fourth Round - Artifact Refining Test (Part 2)

Considering the incompatible nature of water and fire, crafting an artifact with these opposing elemental properties was considerably more challenging than combining two harmonious attributes.

It undoubtedly testing the artificer’s proficiency.

This is one of the restrictions; another requirement is that it must be an intermediate level artifact, with at least one Level 2 incriptions.

If you unable to refine it, your points would be deducted, but if it was successful, the points would be added.

The requirement for the Incripstions is only one Level 2 or two Level 1 Incripstions.

Therefore, having an additional incripstions could also earn extra points.

The third restriction: the school demands students to refine according to the specified form of the artifact, essentially making a custom-designed artifact.

For this exam, if the difficulty is rated on a scale of ten stars, achieving nine stars is possible.

Amalia thought to herself: This round is likely to eliminate quite a few more people.

Pushing aside any unnecessary thoughts, she then began working on the materials.

They only had a morning’s time; there was no room for wastage.

Amalia utilized her usual speed, and refining all impurities from the materials in just an hour and a half.

Even the larger chunks shrunk to solid states smaller than a fist in her hands.

The most obvious challenge in the clash of elements is in their fusion.

Artificers need to meticulously integrate them using their spiritual energy.

A slight mistake could lead to failure.

Initially, Amalia merged the materials of the two different attributes separately, and intending to refine them later.

However, an issue arose during the refining process as the two distinct lines unexpectedly entangled.

Just when she thought it was going to fail, the entangled lines of the different attributes not only it didn’t explode but, after a shimmering flash, it was merged together like they were meant to coexist.

There was no time for her to contemplate what had happened; Amalia had to continue, and surprisingly, everything went smoothly thereafter.

When she merged the materials of the two attributes together, it was just over half an hour, it significantly faster than what she had anticipated which is one and a half hours.

Worried that something might be amiss, Amalia spent another half an hour to thoroughly inspecting every detail inside and out.

There were no issues found.

Instead, she discovered that the fusion of the two conflicting attributes was remarkably flawless.

Although she didn’t understand what happened, this was merely an exam.

Amalia decided to refine the artifact according to her highest standards.

An artifact with both water and fire attributes happened to align with her own spiritual veins, so she custom-made it for herself.

Although the school provided the materials, the artifacts were refined by the students themselves.

After the results were announced, the students could choose to purchase their self-refined artifacts at the cost price of the materials.

With an hour left until the end of the exam, Amalia had successfully refined her artifact and inscribed the two amulets onto it.

Upon activation, the dust on the artifact suddenly faded away, gleaming like a polished pearl, and radiating its own brilliance.

Amalia’s pupils slowly dilated.

Without using spiritual energy to probe, she could sense the grade of this artifact.

It was an advanced level artifact, or should be said to be a pseudo-spiritual artifact.

An advanced level artifact was a step below a spiritual artifact.

And a pseudo-spiritual artifact possessed the qualities of a spiritual arfiact already.

Being able to create a pseudo-spiritual artifact implied that she would certainly be able to refine a spiritual artifact in the future.

It could be said that Amalia now possessed the qualifications to refine a spiritual artifact.

Looking at the incriptions level of the pseudo-spiritual artifact—it has two Level 3 incriptions and two level 2 incriptions—refining a pseudo-spiritual artifact, let alone one with four incriptions,it was something even a mediocre artificer might not accomplish.

Amalia pressed the red switch on her right side.

Instantly, a recess emerged on the desk’s surface, and allowing her to place the artifact inside.

She then selected the ’purchase’ option on the screen.

With everything set, once the assessment was completed, the school would return the artifact to her.

Amalia breathed a sigh of relief. She was confident in her abilities, but there had still been moments of tension during the crafting process.

After she leaving the examination room, time was running short.

Many students realized their failure and exited early, realizing they didn’t have enough time to refine a second artifact.

As Amalia co.e out, she noticed several dejected figures in the hall.

She didn’t leave; the results would be announced shortly, and determining who could advance to the next rou d within ten minutes.

The specifics about the artifact’s grade and functionality wouldn’t be revealed, as the next round’s content was related to this one.

Everyone would only learn about the final exam’s details once they were announced.

"You seem quiet relaxed; I guess you passed it?" remarked the staff member.

"It’s not problem to pass," Amalia nodded lightly, then paused and asked, "May I know your name, Teacher?"

The staff member smiled deeper, "You can call me Teacher Xander. Good luck in the next round."

"Thank you, Teacher Xander," Amalia expressed sincerely.

Ten minutes later, the display screen in the hall began to show the results.

The result of this round was listed by student ID numbers.

Amalia quickly found her name.

Many student had been eliminated this time, and leaving fewer than a hundred student who advanced to the next stage.

The true results of the fourth round won’t be displayed for students, but the AI Brain will transmit them to the school’s instructors.

Through the transmitted results, the instructors can visually identify students with good abilities.

Two instructors, as usual, were screening through the results when a slightly younger instructor suddenly exclaimed, "Pseudo-spiritual artifact!"

The older instructor was about to dismiss the excitement when he suddenly realize what the younger instructor had been said.
