Chapter 184: Ranked First (Part 2)
This was an exam that could determine whether they’d obtain good resources for the semester, and essentially deciding their fate for the next six months.
Everyone took it very seriously, some even nervously rubbing their hands, and muttering to themselves in anxiety.
As the exam time began, a transparent data walls instantly rose around each student.
These walls solidified afterward to prevent cheating.
Amalia noticed a small black dot on the data wall directly in front of her, this was presumably the monitoring device.
As the computer started refreshing, once the students confirmed their avatars and ID numbers were correct, a series of questions would appeared.
Amalia scanned through them without hesitation, and confidently answering each question.
Some answers were purely memorization-based, while others were related to artifact refining and required the student’s comprehension.
True/false questions, multiple-choice questions, short-answer questions, and more - the difficulty level was high.
Towards the end, there was even a challenging sequence problem, likely beyond what a first-year student would have learned, yet she had encountered something similar in the notes that was left behind by Yi Xiulan.
This kind of question seemed to be something that has not been taught in the first year, yet it appeared in the exam.
Amalia didn’t dwell on it, filling in her answers as she thought fit, then rechecked the entire paper before submitting it.
Glancing at the time, only half had passed when she left, and finding herself to be the first one to hand in her paper.
The staff in the hall assumed she was a poor student, because she handing in her paper early, and shaking their heads in disbelief.
Students these days were too restless, rushing to submit their papers halfway through the allotted time, beating the last exam’s record by a few minutes.
Amalia didn’t linger outside after finishing the test; she left promptly.
After the second student to come out, he thought he were the first one to hand in the papper, so he dancing around with joy.
This person was the true poor student one.
As the exam approached its end, thr people trickled out one by one.
When Rasler Yoder come out, Karina Wences was already waiting for him outside and immediately waved her hand at him, "Rasler, over here."
Rasler Yoder walked over and asked, "Have you seen Amalia?"
Karina Wences paused, "No, I’ve been outside since I finished. Could she still be inside?"
Rasler Yoder glanced towards the exam hall’s gates; the time was almost up.
Only those who struggling with uncertain answers were left, as most smart ones knew better than to do so, "Seems like I overestimated her?"
"What do you mean by overestimated?" Karina Wences didn’t quite understand.
Shaking his head, Rasler Yoder replied, "Never mind, let’s go."
At the artifact refining college, the exams followed a ’passing level’ system.
Only after passing the first section could someone advance to the next section.
Therefore, the results would be out in an hour directly, which for some individuals, was an excruciating wait.
"Wow, this year’s new students actually produced a perfect score." A staff member was surprised upon receiving the grades from the central AI brain.
Another person, hearing this, leaned over to take a look.
"It must be Rasler Yoder, right? Among the entire first-year batch, only he who possesses that capability. I’ve heard this semester’s test was a few degrees harder than the last, including questions beyond the first-year level. Considering the Yoder family’s expertise in artifact refining, it’s not surprising that Rasler Yoder would know about them."
"That’s true."
Both of them didn’t take it seriously, they just confirmed it and set the displayed time.
Because the speed of AI Brain’s review is very fast, it is said that the results will be released in an hour, which is not the time of AI Brain’s review.
An hour later, the students from the artifact refining class crowded into the hall, searching for their scores.
There wasn’t a fixed passing score for the cultural subjects; it was adjusted based on the questions’ difficulty.
If their information panel turned red, it meant they didn’t pass.
This semester’s questions were relatively challenging, so the passing grade had been lowered to 50, yet it still eliminated a fair number of students.
"Ah, I passed, exactly 55 points, so close!"
"Sigh, I missed it by just one point. Why were this semester’s questions so difficult? They were impossible to guess."
"Sob, I passed too, thankfully. But I heard Professor Frans is the one who set the questions for this semester."
"That devil, the questions he sets are always so difficult. What’s terrifying is that some people still score full marks!"
"Who’s that amazing? Not even Professor Frans’s questions can stump them. I want to see who this expert is!"
"Haha, who else could it be? In our first-year artifact refining class, besides Rasler Yoder from Class 1, who else is so outstanding? I can’t think anyone else."
Several like-minded individuals squeezed to the front, all believing that Rasler Yoder’s rank wouldn’t be at the bottom.
The AI Brain ranked the student based on their scores, making it easy for everyone to gauge their own abilities based on their performance.
"The first place is truly 100 points, Rasler Yoder is too amazing... Wait, how can it be her?" The speaker’s voice suddenly rose sharply.
Everyone focused their attention on the rank board and noticing that instead of the name Rasler Yoder, it clearly written with the name Amalia Vanquez, even the student ID was written correctly.
An awkward silence engulfed the atmosphere instantly.
Someone broke the tension by swallowing hard and said, "If I remember correctly, isn’t this Amalia the person who caused a stir before, claiming to surpass Rasler Yoder and become the number one in the artifact refining college?"
The rumor had originated from Class 1, and now, almost everyone believed Amalia had said those words.
Everyone wanted to see her joke.
How could she be ranked first in the grade and be easily surpassed Rasler Yoder?
