Chapter 121: The First Customer In College
There were many people nearby watching.
Apart from boys, there were also girls, but the girls mostly envied and felt jealous, and thinking that the boys were superficial for going crazy over someone’s good looks.
They also felt that Amalia wasn’t that renowned; perhaps because she’s from the Class 9, such people wouldn’t have much capability.
The three people observed for a while, but since no one had approached her, it was hard to judge Amalia’s skills.
"What do you think? Any thoughts?" Javier Hermandez seemed hesitant.
"I haven’t seen this person before. I think she might be a new transfer student. She seems familiar, but if I had met her before, I wouldn’t forget," Carlie Martinez squinted.
Both Javier Hermandez and Jorge Sanchez knew his memory was excellent. He could recall many people’s names.
He said the probability of her being a transfer student was at least eighty percent.
"Otherwise, Javier, why don’t you give it a try?" Jorge Sanchez urged.
Javier Hermandez paused for a moment.
"Alright."
They had to take a chance now.
To others, being the first to attempt it wasn’t commendable bravery but rather foolishness.
How could one entrust their personal artifact for repair to someone whose background was unknown?
"Hello, um, can you really repair any type of artifact?" Javier Hermandez approached her and feeling uneasy.
Amalia lifted her head, and looking at her first customer in over half an hour, nodding her head gently.
For some reason, Javier Hermandez’s uneasy heart suddenly settled.
Later, he thought it might have been due to Amalia’s overly calm expression that was affecting him.
"This is my artifact. Could you please check if it’s repairable?" Javier Hermandez handed over the artifact.
Amalia glanced at it.
It was an intermediate level artifact, marked with signs of frequent usage, it also heavily worn and repaired several times.
However, the quality of the repairs wasn’t great, with so many impurities.
"Is this artifact’s power declining compared to before?"
"Huh?" Javier Hermandez was stunned.
However, after he was nudged by Jorge Sanchez he realize it.
"Right, right. When I use the artifact now, I can only unleash two-thirds of its energy."
"Previously, the artifact wasn’t properly repaired, causing an accumulation of impurities, and resulting in reducing it power. The spiritual art’s strength also can’t be fully unleashed. To restore its original power, the impurities need to be removed," Amalia explained the situation in detail.
Her calm tone surprised Javier Hermandez.
Instead of pondering her capabilities, he involuntarily asked, "Um, could I inquire about the price?"
"You’re my first customer, so I can offer you a 70% discount of the market price," Amalia replied.
As Javier Hermandez was about to agree, Jorge Sanchez pulled him back, "Javier, ask her if she can repair it first, don’t rush about the money."
Javier Hermandez realized this and, unexpectedly, he found himself trusting her, and following her pace.
"Don’t worry, if I can’t fix it, I’ll compensate you with a new artifact," Amalia, with keen senses also overheard Jorge Sanchez’s words.
Javier Hermandez blushed in embarrassment, "Sorry, this classmate. My friend is just concerned about me."
"I understand," Amalia replied calmly.
"Isn’t this Javier Hermandez? What are you doing here? No one’s willing to help you repair your artifact? So desperate that you’re randomly grabbing any passerby, ready to try anything?" A voice that laced with mockery, emerged from the crowd.
A young man then walked over, and accompanied by another.
"Rasler Yoder’s lackey, what’s it to you!" Javier Hermandez’s expression turned cold upon seeing them.
"Such bad luck, encountering them everywhere!" Jorge Sanchez muttered under his breath, unaware that Amalia glanced at him.
The young man’s face initially held a mocking expression, but upon hearing Jorge Sanchez’s words, his smile vanished instantly.
His gaze shifted to Amalia, and warning her, "Which class are you from? Let me remind you, this person is someone Young Master Yoder has warned about. Anyone who dares to help him becomes Young Master Yoder’s enemy."
Upon hearing the threat towards Amalia, Javier Hermandez became anxious.
Rasler Yoder held considerable influence within the artifact refining college, and almost no one dared to defy him.
"There are too many people here. If you don’t mind, I’ll take this artifact with me for now. Tomorrow, at this time, you can come to collect it again. How does that sound?" Amalia looked at Javier Hermandez.
Javier Hermandez hesitated for a moment before nodding slowly, "Alright."
The ignored young man’s face turned red, then pale.
Didn’t this person hear his words?
Young Master Yoder was renowned at Heavenly Path University. He must have deliberately ignored him!
"If you help Javier Hermandez repair the artifact today, you’re against Young Master Yoder. You need to think about it again," the young man stared coldly at Amalia.
Having completed the deal, Amalia was ready to leave, satisfied with the transaction.
However, upon hearing the young man’s words, she suddenly halted and gazed at him, "So, are you saying you can speak on behalf of Young Master Yoder? He sent you to speak for him?"
Two consecutive questions left the young man bewildered.
It wasn’t until Amalia departed that he finally reacted, and his face turning ashen.
His words made everything seem problematic.
It felt as if his words represented Young Master Yoder’s thoughts
.
He needed to find time to explain it to Young Master Yoder.
If someone maliciously twisted the facts and told Young Master Yoder, he would have nowhere to plead his innocence.
Meanwhile, for Javier Hermandez and his friends, it was quite surreal.
Initially, they just wanted to give it a try, but things went smoothly, and they encountered someone who didn’t even react upon hearing Rasler Yoder’s name.
Javier Hermandez hesitated for a moment, then hurried after Amalia, "Excuse me."
Amalia turned around.
"I haven’t asked for your name yet. I’m Javier Hermandez, you can call me Javier. Which class are you from at the artifact refining college? Maybe we could exchange contact information," Javier Hermandez rattled off, while Jorge Sanchez and Carlie Martinez caught up.
It seemed more convenient to stay connected this way, so Amalia readily agreed.
After exchanging contacts, Javier Hermandez seemed about to say something but hesitated.
"Are you a new transfer student? The person earlier wasn’t entirely wrong. Young Master Yoder holds a lot of power. If you help me, it means opposing him, which might not bode well for your development at the artifact refining college. You might want to reconsider," Javier Hermandez finally spoke, and feeling relieved after he letting it out.
Jorge Sanchez and Carlie Martinez hadn’t expected him to actually say it aloud.
They wanted to stop him but were too late, just watching anxiously.
"It’s alright," Amalia replied.
"If there’s nothing else, I’ll take my leave. I’ll contact you once the artifact is repaired."
Javier Hermandez nodded in a daze, watching her leave.
Suddenly, he slapped his own face, then turned to see his two friends looking at him with complicated expressions.
"Sometimes, fools are fortunate."
Javier Hermandez smiled instantly.
His parents often taught him to live with a clear conscience.
He simply sought peace of mind; after offending Rasler Yoder, and involving someone else wouldn’t benefit him.
It was better to make a new acquaintance.
With the artifact in hand, Amalia didn’t return to her dormitory.
Instead, she took a turn towards the artifact refining college, where numerous enclosed refining rooms were available.
Only students from the college had access. Earlier that morning, she had already been granted the entry.
After swiping her ID, she was allowed in.
Having repaired more challenging artifacts in the past, it didn’t take much time for her.
As the first customer, she even added a beginner level incription with new materials and checked for any remaining issues before putting it away.
She then messaged Kenny Lin, providing her location and inquiring about his arrival time.
After repairing Javier Hermandez’s artifact, Amalia felt a slight loosening in the protective membrane that Kenny Lin had cast upon her.
She wanted to test it—each consolidation might provide her with a few more uses.
"Wait a moment, an hour," Kenny Lin responded promptly.
An hour seemed about right for her to refine another artifact.
When the hour passed, Kenny Lin messaged her, and informing her of his arrival at the entrance.
Amalia went out to meet him, and spotting Kenny Lin hidden in the darkness, dressed all in black, blending in like an invisible person.
"How did you enter without anyone stopping you?" Amalia asked.
Kenny Lin, uncharacteristically jokingly, replied, "Your boyfriend here doesn’t take the usual route, he jumped the wall to get in."
Yeah, right. Heavenly Path University wasn’t a place you could just hop over a wall and enter.
Kenny Lin approached her, and gripping Amalia’s wrist.
She instinctively wanted to shake him off but then remembered he was here to examine her. She frowned slightly. Did he only need to grip her wrist? Previously, even shoulder contact was fine.
"There’s a lot of traffic here, how about we go to somewhere else?" Amalia scanned the surroundings, wary of potential onlookers.
"Your dorm?" Kenny Lin asked.
