Chapter 1169: Echoes of the Fallen

Amalia stood suspended in the air, watching as shadows continuously rose from the ground of Planet Teutonia.

Were these the souls of the dead, or lingering remnants of their will?

She did not know.

All she could see was these shadows being drawn out from the earth, one by one, into Kenny Lin’s Ying-Yang Pearl.

At first, only alien spirits emerged, but as time went on, more and more of the shadows took on human forms.

A vast, dense black cloud of souls surged into the Ying-Yang Pearl in front of Kenny Lin.

The aura of the pearl seemed different than before.

After a while, Amalia finally descended back to the ground and found Major General Rafiq.

"Were there a lot of humans on Planet Teutonia before?" she asked.

Major General Rafiq didn’t understand the purpose of her question but answered anyway. "Planet Teutonia is on the edge of the core region of the Erythar Star System. It used to be home to many humans—at least four hundred million."

"All of these people were slaughtered by the aliens?"

Major General Rafiq hesitated for a moment. "I’m not entirely sure of the details, but since Planet Teutonia was occupied by aliens, many humans must have died resisting them at the time."

"As I thought."

Major General Rafiq was not fully aware of the situation on Planet Teutonia.

He did not know that out of the four hundred million humans he had mentioned, possibly more than two to three hundred million had been buried beneath the battlefield.

Most of the black shadows had emerged from the battleground, with only a small portion rising from other directions.

Perhaps, in their desperate attempt to defend Planet Teutonia, humanity had resorted to sheer numbers, throwing lives into the fight.

Regardless of how it happened, both the process and the outcome had been undeniably tragic.

"What’s wrong?" Major General Rafiq had an instinctive feeling that something was off.

"A staggering number of humans died on this planet," Amalia stated bluntly.

Major General Rafiq fell silent.

It took him a long moment before he let out a weary sigh. "I had my suspicions, but I didn’t want to think about it."

"Yeah. My condolences," Amalia said, not dwelling on the subject further. "Planet Teutonia is a decent planet. Do you have any plans for it?"

Major General Rafiq shook his head. "The humans who lived here are either dead or were taken away by the aliens. There’s nothing left for us here."

"This planet isn’t suitable for habitation anymore."

As Major General Rafiq turned to look at her, she continued, "Too many people have died here. It’s not a place for the living."

Some things couldn’t be easily explained.

The will of the planet itself had changed because of the sheer number of deaths.

Just moments ago, when she was observing from above, Amalia had vaguely noticed some black substances along Planet Teutonia’s edges.

She wasn’t sure what they were, but they didn’t seem to signal anything good.

Major General Rafiq seemed to understand her meaning. "There are many planets like Planet Teutonia. The Erythar Star System has an uncountable number of planets. Losing one habitable planet won’t make much of a difference. As for the humans who were taken by the aliens... at least ninety percent of them are likely already dead."

"Yeah, we’ll see." She still needed to check with Wealth.

Kenny Lin remained in the sky for a full two hours before he had finally absorbed all of Planet Teutonia’s black shadows.

The Ying-Yang Pearl seemed to let out a satisfied belch, releasing faint black flames into the air.

When Kenny Lin returned to the ground, she saw the look of satisfaction on his face.

"Had your fill?"

"Not bad. I was just testing it out at first—I didn’t expect so many people to have died on Planet Teutonia."

"After absorbing so much, have you noticed any changes in your body?"

"I took in too much at once. The Ying-Yang Pearl seems to be struggling to handle it. The conversion process has slowed down. It might take two days before I can tell what effect it had."

Amalia suddenly trembled as if sensing something.

She lifted her head and gazed toward the sky.

Strands of white light emerged from the land of Planet Teutonia, flying in from all directions.

These white lights, as if given in gratitude, all entered Amalia’s body.

At the same time, her small world also underwent changes due to the influx of these lights.

Large beams of light poured down from the sky, making the small world feel warm and bright.

The hundred thousand residents inside the small world could not see these white lights, but they all felt that today’s weather was unusually warm.

Their work felt effortless, and their bodies were filled with strength.

Wealth was once again startled awake from his nap.

He muttered, "What did Mother do this time? Every time I’m halfway through incubating the egg, I get woken up. Can’t I just have a proper nap?"

That last sentence seemed to betray some hidden thoughts.

Resigned, Wealth walked out of his small house.

As he saw the glow in the sky, his entire beastly body suddenly became alert.

His jaw dropped as he stared in shock at the scene before him.

The next second, he frantically called out to Mother in his mind.

"What is it?" Amalia quickly responded, as she happened to have something to ask Wealth as well.

"Mother, what did you do this time? You actually received the life force gift from the will of the planet."

Amalia answered simply, "It should be related to your Father."

"Logically speaking, this should have been given to Father. Maybe because you carry Father’s aura, the planet’s will sensed the small world within you and decided to grant this life force to you instead."

"What is this life force used for?" Amalia asked.

"Of course, it’s useful! It’s similar to humanity’s power of faith. In the short term, the effect might not be obvious, but it serves as the foundation of a world. The stronger the foundation, the more stable the small world becomes. This life force has another major benefit—when the small world is damaged, the life force will automatically repair it. It’s extremely rare to obtain, unless the giver willingly offers it. Otherwise, it cannot be forcibly taken."
