Chapter 1147: Queen’s Last Stand

The goal was to ensure that, should the space insectoids ever attack again, the soldiers would not be completely unprepared.

Of course, the Empire had once considered deploying its forces to annihilate the space insectoids entirely, but that opportunity had long since passed.

Now, the space insectoids were crawling over one another, racing across other planets at astonishing speed.

With the will of Planet Umbra aiding her, Amalia’s merging process was faster than with lifeless, abandoned planets.

Countless space insectoids, unable to escape from Planet Umbra in time, fell into Amalia’s small world as the planet collapsed.

Within her small world, an extraordinary transformation was occurring once again.

The edges of the small world began to absorb black material continuously.

The residents of Shadron whose doing construction stopped their work and staring in shock at the spectacle.

Nazir hearing the reports from his subordinates, walked out of a newly built house.

The sight made his eyelids twitch involuntarily.

There was a sense of familiarity about the black material streaming in.

When he and a few others ventured closer to the edges, their legs gave out in fright, and with a thud, they collapsed to the ground.

Nazir managed to hold himself together slightly better.

As a former leader on Shadron, he had reviewed some informational materials, including films about the space insectoids, which gave him a bit more composure to barely stay on his feet.

"Mayor, why are there so many space insectoids here? Are these the space insectoids we’ve heard about?"

A few of the men were trembling uncontrollably.

They had never encountered such creatures in real life but had seen similar depictions in films.

"It’s over. This world has been invaded by space insectoids too. We’re doomed," one man said, his face filled with terror.

"We can’t escape. Mayor, you need to ask that person to get us out of here!"

The others quickly chimed in, "Yes, yes, we don’t want to stay here anymore. These space insectoids will eat us alive. We’ll be safe if we leave!"

Nazir steadied himself with effort.

From the bits and pieces he had heard from Khalil, he could sense that this world was extraordinary.

Even aliens couldn’t locate them here.

How could space insectoids, who were light-years away, possibly find them?

Suspicious, he forced himself to carefully observe the dense swarm of insects.

Suddenly, he noticed something peculiar.

"Have any of you noticed something strange about these space insectoids?"

Hearing this, the group started looking more closely at the space insectoids.

"You’re right; something does seem off."

Their fear and apprehension eased considerably as they focused on the scene before them.

"These space insectoids seem to be disintegrating in midair."

The space insectoids appeared to be innumerable, a dense, writhing mass.

However, before they could descend, they seemed to dissolve, as if breaking apart and vanishing into nutrients.

At the edge of the small world, the borders continued to expand, yet there wasn’t a single space insectoids carcass visible on the ground.

Nazir’s mind quickly calculated the situation. "Alright, since there’s no real danger, let’s head back. Remember not to spread this to others. We don’t want to cause unnecessary panic."

"Don’t worry, Mayor. We understand," they replied, nodding.

"That’s good. Let’s go."

Returning to the small town, Nazir acted as usual, informing the residents that the small world was expanding.

Once the process was complete, they would have an even larger area to explore and live in.

This kind of phenomenon had already occurred dozens of times before, so the residents of the small town had grown accustomed to it.

Meanwhile, the Space Insectoid Queen, having lost contact with a massive number of her minions, became increasingly terrified.

She struggled to move the flesh on her body, which quivered violently with every attempt, as though it might fall off entirely.

But having remained stationary for decades, she found it impossible to move even an inch.

After a long effort that accomplished nothing, she let out a series of sharper, more piercing screams.

The more agonized the Space Insectoid Queen’s cries became, the more frenzied her space insectoid swarm grew.

The massive tide of space insectoids surged closer.

Khalil and Tariq who is in the spacecraft, didn’t hesitate to activate the spacecraft’s energy cannons.

A beam of intense light shot forth, dispersing into a radiant bloom, instantly obliterating a vast number of space insectoids.

Their remains fell into space and were disintegrated.

Without hesitation, the pair unleashed the weapon multiple times.

Despite knowing they were rushing toward certain death, the space insectoids pressed forward relentlessly, sacrificing themselves in droves to reach the Space Insectoid Queen.

To these creatures, their queen was always paramount.

After dozens of attacks, Khalil and Tariq estimated they had already annihilated at least a billion space insectoids.

Yet the swarm appeared undiminished.

They finally understood that Amalia had not been exaggerating.

Over fifty years, the space insectoids had proliferated to their peak, numbering in the hundreds of billions.

Khalil dared not fire the energy cannon again, fearing they might fail to harvest the resources from Planet Noctis.

If that happened, they wouldn’t be able to return to the cosmic battleship.

"Mr. Kenny, we can’t hold them off any longer," Khalil informed Kenny Lin, who was stationed atop the spacecraft.

Kenny Lin glanced back briefly, his expression calm and indifferent.

With a casual motion, he tossed out an artifact.

Khalil and Tariq observed as the object emerged — a disc-like device glimmering faintly.

The dark golden glow emanated from the artifact, and when it reached the oncoming swarm, it suddenly radiated an intense, blinding light.

Inside the spacecraft, Khalil and Tariq instinctively shielded their eyes.

When they adjusted and reopened them, they were greeted by an astonishing sight.

The massive swarm, vast enough to engulf an entire planet in moments, seemed to hit an invisible barrier.

The space insectoids collided with it repeatedly but could not advance further.

Despite the obstruction, the swarm showed no sign of retreat.

One by one, the space insectoids hurled themselves against the barrier, meeting their deaths upon impact.
