Chapter 1145: Queen’s Last Stand
"We’ve arrived," Khalil announced as the spacecraft navigated past several planets and stopped before Planet Umbra.
Unlike the other space insectoid-infested planets, Planet Umbra wasn’t as densely populated.
Yet, vast numbers of space insectoids left the planet daily—some to assault the particle storm, others joining different space insectoid species in similar attacks.
On the surface, Planet Umbra appeared calm, but it was home to the Space Insectoid Queen, whose psychic power might have already surpassed 3S levels.
"So, the little bug is indeed here," Kenny Lin said, his divine sense probing the planet.
As he extended his divine senses outward, he detected a thin, membrane-like field of psychic energy surrounding the planet.
The moment Kenny Lin touched the Space Insectoid Queen’s psychic energy with his own, he was met with the chilling sensation of an icy, emotionless "gaze" looking back at him from the depths of Planet Umbra.
"Interesting," Kenny Lin remarked. "This little bug’s psychic power is at least on par with the early stages of Deity Transformation."
In this technologically advanced universe, a being with psychic power equivalent to the early stages of Deity Transformation was an extraordinary threat.
"If humans or aliens came here today instead of us, they’d suffer losses—perhaps even face total annihilation," Kenny Lin added.
Amalia nodded solemnly. "If the Space Insectoid Queen manages to consume the energy on Planet Noctis, her psychic power might break through to the peak of Deity Transformation, surpassing even you and me. Truly formidable."
Hearing that the Space Insectoid Queen might surpass even their two benefactors in power, Khalil and Tariq were filled with fear.
"Is the Space Insectoid Queen really that powerful?" Khalil asked nervously.
"Yes," Amalia replied. "If you came here alone, it would likely end in total annihilation. This is the price of neglect."
Although Amalia didn’t explicitly blame anyone, Khalil’s face turned red with shame.
He had long felt that the space insectoids should have been dealt with sooner, but he never understood why the Empire failed to act.
Perhaps it was because they had been too afraid of the space insectoids in the past.
"So, what do we do now?" Khalil asked anxiously.
"Stay on the ship," Amalia instructed. "If the space insectoids attack and you can’t hold out, head back toward the battleship. Don’t worry about us. Once we’ve taken care of things, we’ll meet you there."
Suddenly, the silence of space was shattered by a series of violent explosions, followed by a piercing sonic attack that cut through the ship.
The sound was so sharp that Khalil and Tariq began bleeding from their ears, noses, and mouths.
Thankfully, the excruciating pain disappeared almost as quickly as it came, leaving their bodies feeling light.
Supporting themselves on nearby tables and chairs, they barely managed to avoid collapsing.
Their hearts pounding in fear.
"What was that?" Tariq gasped.
"The Space Insectoid Queen’s psychic attack," Amalia said, stepping in front of them. "It’s no surprise you couldn’t handle it."
The two of them instinctively turned toward the window, their eyes locking on the sight of Planet Umbra.
Previously hidden beneath the planet’s surface, countless space insectoids now emerged, their malevolent eyes fixed on the ship.
Meanwhile, Kenny Lin had already left the ship.
Standing on its hull, he gazed down at the space insectoids that was covering Planet Umbra.
His sharp eyes pierced through the Space Insectoid Queen’s veil of illusion, revealing her massive, grotesque body.
Her psychic power, immense as it was, came with a terrible cost.
Her body had grown so large and unwieldy that it resembled an enormous mountain of flesh.
Unable to move and with a body so fragile that even an ordinary human could kill her up close, she was both terrifying and vulnerable.
"What a disgusting little bug," Kenny Lin sneered.
There weren’t many things in the universe that could truly disgust him anymore, but this little creature had managed to accomplish that feat—a testament to its grotesque uniqueness.
From their initial clash, the Space Insectoid Queen immediately sensed a powerful threat emanating from this human.
Her mind was consumed by a singular thought: Kill him! Kill him!
Her psychic power surged, spreading across the entire planet.
The swarms of space insectoids erupted from the ground, their wings buzzing ominously as they rose into the air.
Riding on their backs were other space insectoid types that closely resembled the fearsome Astro Infestation Ant.
Kenny Lin squinted and chuckled. "How generous of you—offering a buy-one-get-one-free deal. Well, I’ll gladly accept."
A storm of black sword energy erupted from him, cleaving through the space insectoids.
Even the Astro Infestation Ant, known for their resilience and ability to split into two functioning halves upon being cut, were shredded to pieces before they could react.
No matter how many space insectoids surged forward, they all met the same fate.
The relentless onslaught of sword energy showed no signs of stopping, while the space insectoids, though seemingly endless, were visibly thinning in number.
The skies rained down the remains of countless space insectoids, forming a gruesome "insect rain."
The ground beneath the spacecraft was soon blanketed with a thick layer of fragmented space insectoid corpses, leaving no room for doubt—they were truly dead.
The Astro Infestation Ants’ ability to split and survive was due to their unique cellular composition, which allowed rapid regeneration.
However, this came at the cost of a shortened lifespan.
Despite this, the Space Insectoid Queen’s extraordinary reproductive capabilities meant she could always spawn more Astro Infestation Ants to replenish her forces.
The Space Insectoid Queen’s strategy of relentless sacrifice showed her desperation.
At her command, the space insectoids hurled themselves at Kenny Lin, willing to die in droves if it meant slowing him down.
Yet, as she witnessed his overwhelming power, a sense of dread crept into her mind. For the first time, she considered retreating.
However, her enormous, cumbersome body rendered escape impossible.
Immobilized, she could do nothing but send wave after wave of space insectoids to obstruct this formidable opponent.
