Chapter 1143: The Space Insectoid Queen

In reality, Amalia was sensing the sorrow transmitted by these planets.

They were not willingly heading toward destruction—much like a human who, though only fifty years old, appeared as frail as someone over two hundred, on the brink of death.

These planets were like aged beings whose bodies had been ravaged beyond repair.

Even though they hadn’t yet reached their natural end, they were forcibly brought to destruction by circumstances akin to disease or catastrophe.

Many planets had a consciousness of their own.

They did not wish for their demise.

However, humans couldn’t perceive the sorrow of these planets.

Amalia’s powerful soul, coupled with the thriving vitality of her small world, made her susceptible to the grief emanating from these celestial bodies.

"Where is this planet Noctis you mentioned?" Amalia asked as she suppressed the flood of sorrowful emotions before they could overtake her.

Officer Khan immediately recalibrated the coordinates.

Before long, they located planet Noctis.

"Planet Noctis is on the outskirts of this region. However, we can’t be certain if there are space insectoid nests nearby. If there are, the battleship’s presence might attract their attention," Officer Khan warned.

"This battleship can detect lifeforms, right?" Amalia recalled something the aliens had once said.

"It can. Should we take the risk and try?" Officer Khan deferred the decision to Amalia.

"Let’s try it," Amalia decided.

Flying there herself with Kenny Lin would take more than two months.

"Understood," Officer Khan responded promptly, issuing the order without hesitation.

The enormous battleship began moving forward, its energy engines surging to full capacity.

In an instant, it accelerated to a speed of thousands of kilometers per second.

As they passed by the desolate planets, Amalia’s sharp eyes took in the barren surfaces, which no longer bore any traces of life.

It seemed likely that, in the distant future, this area could collapse into a massive black hole.

After more than half an hour, the battleship finally detected signs of life.

When the team saw the overwhelming number of life signals displayed, they collectively gasped in shock.

This wasn’t a matter of millions but billions of lifeforms.

Several nearby planets had been entirely taken over by the space insectoids, their surfaces crawling with countless numbers of the creatures.

As they drew closer, Amalia could sense the desperate cries for help emanating from the planets themselves.

"There are even more space insectoids here than before. It seems like almost all the habitable planets in this region have been overrun," Officer Khan remarked, his tone tinged with concern.

It was horrifying to think about what might happen when these space insectoids depleted the resources of this area.

Would they then migrate to other regions to continue their devastation?

If that were the case, the surrounding planets likely wouldn’t survive for much longer.

"Did the Empire never consider wiping out these space insectoids before?" Amalia asked, her expression thoughtful.

"Of course, we did. Before the aliens invaded our universe, the Empire had already begun discussing this issue with other nations. We knew we couldn’t let the space insectoids continue to multiply unchecked. If left alone, they could eventually devour the entire universe," Officer Khan explained.

Unfortunately, before the plan could be implemented, the alien invasion disrupted everything.

Now, with each nation struggling to defend itself, no one had the resources or capacity to deal with the space insectoids.

"Shall we head to planet Noctis first?" Amalia suggested.

Officer Khan recalibrated the coordinates, but his expression suddenly darkened.

"What’s wrong?"

"This is bad. The space insectoids have completely surrounded planet Noctis," Officer Khan said grimly.

He enlarged the star map by several hundred times.

Planet Noctis appeared on the display, it was encircled by a constant particle storm that raged unbroken around it.

Outside the particle storm, a black mass persisted in its relentless advance toward planet Noctis.

Every time the particle storm pushed it back, the swarms of black space insectoids would replace those that had fallen.

"As expected, these space insectoids haven’t given up on planet Noctis’s rich energy resources," Amalia observed.

The space insectoids’ reproduction rate was both rapid and formidable.

Despite the vast numbers of space insectoids that perished, their queen would tirelessly spawned more each day, making them an inexhaustible force.

"What’s their current status? How far have they progressed?" Amalia asked.

After observing for a moment, Officer Khan replied, "These space insectoids are incredibly clever. They’ve been searching for the weakest point in the particle storm. Over the years, they seem to have found it, and this is likely the spot."

"However, their method is rather crude—they rely on the corpses of their own kind to gradually inch forward. It’s a foolish approach, but undeniably effective. If we hadn’t come here, they might have eventually succeeded."

"And if they succeed, what happens?" Amalia asked again.

Officer Khan’s expression turned grave. "If they manage to enter planet Noctis and consume all its energy, this universe is finished. The Space Insectoid Queen’s physical strength might not be remarkable, but her psychic power is exceptionally strong. Once the energy is fed back to her, the resulting transformation would be unpredictable but unquestionably catastrophic. She could become so powerful that it might be impossible to kill her."

Amalia nodded thoughtfully. "That is troublesome. Let’s eliminate these space insectoids first."

She then turned to Officer Khan. "Can we pinpoint where the Space Insectoid Queen is located?"

"Theoretically, yes," Officer Khan said hesitantly.

"Theoretically?" Amalia raised an eyebrow.

"Yes. The Space Insectoid Queen is usually guarded by two types of ant soldiers: the Winged Void Ant and the Astro Infestation Ant. Winged Void Ant can consume all metals and rocks, while Astro Infestation Ant are the ones I mentioned earlier—they can multiply when when they’re severed. These two creatures are the most formidable space insectoids to deal with, even for a mech army," Officer Khan explained.

"I see. The space insectoids have thrived in this region for so many years without external threats, so the Space Insectoid Queen likely hasn’t grown overly cautious. She’s probably still protected by those two types of ants. Correct?"
