Chapter 1046: Secrets of the Forbidden Ground

"It all makes sense now. As soon as Wealth returned to the forbidden ground, it was discovered," Amalia said, her brows furrowed in thought.

"Exactly. We’ve been puzzled too. The forbidden ground has existed for countless years, yet it remained hidden until now," Zhar’khaen replied, equally perplexed.

"You mentioned earlier that, aside from the devils, there’s a group of powerful demonic beasts lurking nearby, waiting for an opportunity?"

"Yes."

"After you gave us the two Breath Concealing Pearls that day, did you venture out a few times?" Amalia asked pointedly.

Zhar’khaen froze for a moment, then nodded slowly. "Yes, we went out a few times."

"Without the Breath Concealing Pearls, your presence may have been detected. That’s the only plausible explanation. There isn’t a possibility of a traitor among you, is there?" Amalia pressed.

"Absolutely not! Gor’kan and Vryss’laar would never do something like that!" Zhar’khaen’s response was sharp and emotional.

"Calm down. I believe you," Amalia reassured him. She had seen firsthand how much the three Pixiu cared for Wealth—there was no way they would betray him.

The three of them increased their pace, managing to reach the nearest city bordering the Devil Battlefield in just one day.

After passing through the city, they entered the Devil Battlefield.

Once Amalia confirmed the location of the forbidden ground, she immediately headed there, not pausing for even a moment.

"Is it just the two of you?" Zhar’khaen asked in disbelief.

"Who else would it be?" Amalia shot back.

"You think we aren’t enough?" Kenny Lin raised an eyebrow, his tone challenging.

Realizing the tension, Zhar’khaen gave an awkward laugh. "Of course not. But the enemy has too many King-level Devils. I’m just worried we might not stand a chance."

"The existence of the forbidden ground must remain a secret, correct?" Amalia asked, her voice calm but firm.

"After this incident, keeping it a secret might no longer be possible," Zhar’khaen admitted helplessly.

"Then this is the plan: I’ll leave a message for the elders stationed at the Devil Battlefield from the Green Lotus Sect," Amalia said. She pulled out an amulet, crushed it into a ball, and threw it into the air. The amulet transformed into a paper crane and flew toward Obsidian City.

"Alright. I’m worried about Wealth. Let’s head to the forbidden ground now."

Zhar’khaen felt a surge of frustration, as if their roles had been reversed. He was supposed to be the one most concerned about the Young Master.

The three continued their journey with haste. Along the way, no devil or demonic beast could stand in their path. Occasionally, weaker devils tried to confront them but were obliterated by the overwhelming energy the trio radiated. Other devils, realizing the danger, didn’t dare to approach.

The Copperstone Region—an endless expanse of mountains stretching as far as the eye could see—was where the forbidden ground of the Nine Heaven Pixiu lay hidden.

Atop one of the peaks, several powerful demonic beasts lurked, each keeping to itself without interfering with the others.

From the distant depths of the mountains, loud rumblings echoed continuously, shaking the air with an ominous resonance.

Dalamandur’s pair of emerald, slit-pupiled eyes flickered as it focused on the mountains where the spatial distortions were most intense.

"Everyone, are we truly going to just wait here like this?"

Dalamandur wasn’t the strongest among the demonic beasts, but it also wasn’t the weakest. The fact that so many powerful demonic beasts had gathered here was due in large part to its efforts.

"While we’re all hoping to reap the benefits as bystanders, what if those devils ahead break into the forbidden ground first and take all the treasures for themselves?"

"They won’t succeed. The forbidden ground of the Beast God is not so easily breached. The Pixiu within will fight to their deaths to protect it."

Although their ultimate goal was the Beast God’s forbidden ground, all present acknowledged its formidable defenses.

"It would be best if those Pixiu were killed outright," Dalamandur muttered, narrowing its serpent eyes.

While it did covet the treasures, what it desired even more was to kill the Pixiu and ensure that the Nine Heaven Pixiu lineage was wiped from existence.

On another peak, a demonic beast in the form of an elderly woman turned her gaze toward Dalamandur.

"Dalamandur, you seem particularly impatient," she remarked.

"How could I not be? As long as those Pixiu are killed, I don’t care about anything else," Dalamandur retorted, unafraid to reveal its true motives.

A middle-aged demonic beast nearby sneered. "Dalamandur, you’re regressing with age. The Nine Heaven Pixiu are long extinct. Those three mixed-blood Pixiu are no threat. What could they possibly accomplish?"

"That’s because you don’t know how terrifying the Beast God truly was," Dalamandur said, ignoring the mockery. Inwardly, it sneered at their ignorance.

"The Beast God is the Beast God. What does that have to do with three Pixiu?" the middle-aged demonic beast argued.

"Besides, the Pixiu we see now have undergone countless generations of dilution. They’re no longer the Nine Heaven Pixiu of old. Even if they train to the pinnacle, they’ll never amount to much."

"But what if it’s the Beast God reincarnated?" Dalamandur casually threw out this bombshell.

"What did you just say? The Beast God reincarnated? Impossible!" Several demonic beasts immediately reacted with disbelief.

"I’ve said what I’ve said. Whether you believe it or not is up to you," Dalamandur replied, lapsing into silence once more.

"Dalamandur, explain yourself clearly. Are you truly certain that the Beast God could reincarnate?" The elderly woman pressed further, her gaze sharp and penetrating.

These powerful demonic beasts weren’t accustomed to standing upright like humans, but at this startling revelation, their hunched forms straightened instinctively.

"I’m not certain. But my ancestors once told us that our clan must hunt the descendants of the Nine Heaven Pixiu across all generations. If they are not eradicated, it will spell the end of the Dalamandur lineage. And what could possibly threaten the Dalamandur lineage, except for the reincarnation of the Beast God?"
