Chapter 20: PatrolLin the Forest Alone

> “What the heck? Panda mom actually liked drinking tea?”

> “A tea-loving national treasure?”

> “Good grief, as expected of our national treasure, even sharing our love for tea!”

> “Mama, don’t ask why I was kneeLin while watching the livestream, it was just too wild!”

“Hey, I didn’t expect a panda to love tea too,” Wang Jian said. Wang Jian watched in amazement, then teased with a laugh, “But this tea is really good. I feel a bit buzzed after drinking it.”

Panda mom clung to Lin Tian, wanting more tea. Lin Tian had no choice but to brew another pot. The teapot wasn’t large. There wasn’t much left inside. Just enough for one cup each.

Lin Tian poured the brewed tea into a small teacup for Panda mom, the same kind he used. He patted Panda mom’s head and instructed, “This is your only cup. There’s no more after this, so drink it slowly.”

“Ow…”

Panda mom stared at the teacup, realizing it was her only one, and seemed reluctant. She held the cup and sipped it carefully. Suddenly, she got scalded. The tea was still piping hot, not cooled down. A panda’s tongue wasn’t heat-resistant.

The scalding tea made Panda mom stick out her little tongue.

“Ha-chi! Ha-chi!”

Panda mom panted with her tongue out, like a little dog. The audience burst into laughter at the sight. Panda mom wanted to drink the tea, but it was too hot to sip. She could only look to Lin Tian for help.

Lin Tian saw that Panda mom had been scalded but didn’t say anything. He just smiled, picked up his own tea, gently blew on it, and took a small sip.

Seeing this, Panda mom immediately mimicked him, squatting on the ground, holding the teacup with her front paws, and blowing on it.

Then she sipped the tea carefully.

“So comfy.”

“Ying ying…”

One human and one panda, sipping their tea in sync, let out satisfied sounds in unison.

In the afternoon, a cool breeze blew. The sun was just right. The wind felt refreshingly cool. One human and one panda savored their spiritual tea, enjoying the leisurely afternoon.

“Xiao Tian, thanks for the tea. See you tomorrow,” Wang Jian said.

In the evening, Wang Jian bid farewell to Lin Tian and left. Lin Tian put away the tea set and brought it back inside.

As evening arrived, mosquitoes started to appear in droves. Lin Tian went to the courtyard wall and planted a patch of tuberose. Tuberose had a strong mosquito-repellent effect.

The mosquitoes in the forest were numerous and highly toxic. Normal mosquitoes were typically active at night. But there was an invasive species—the Aedes mosquito. These mosquitoes were not only toxic but fed day and night.

Over the past two days, Lin Tian had been bitten, resulting in several large welts. He was also worried about the panda cubs getting bitten. So, he planted a large patch of tuberose around the courtyard, creating a mosquito-free zone.

Moreover, tuberose flowers were beautiful. They bloomed into white, star-shaped flowers, with a natural fragrance. Both aesthetically pleasing and highly effective at repelLin mosquitoes, they were top-notch.

He dug up the soil and transplanted the tuberose.  Midway, Panda mom wandered over, sniffed the tuberose, thought it was something edible, and took a big bite.

Instantly, the bitter taste of the plant’s sap filled her mouth. Her tongue went numb. She spat repeatedly nearby.

“Pfft, pfft…”

Lin Tian watched helplessly. Why did she try to eat everything? After planting the tuberose, Lin Tian watered them all with spiritual water.

With the spiritual water’s nourishment, the tuberose’s mosquito-repellent effect became even stronger.

Sure enough, as soon as the tuberose was planted, the annoying buzzing in the courtyard vanished.

Lin Tian deliberately searched for mosquitoes and found they had fled his courtyard like refugees. Even snakes, ants, and insects within a ten-meter radius of the courtyard were gone.

As he got out of bed to find his shoes, he suddenly stepped on something soft and furry, then saw Panda mom sprawled by his bedside. The two panda cubs were nestled on her belly.

Lin Tian felt a bit helpless. He had already cleared out a separate room for the panda to stay in. But she still preferred resting in his room.

Carefully stepping around Panda mom, Lin Tian put on his shoes and left the room.

“Morning, everyone,” Lin Tian said. After getting up and eating breakfast, Lin Tian opened the livestream.

As soon as it started, a flood of viewers poured in. The number of online viewers skyrocketed. Lin Tian gave a simple greeting to the livestream audience.

“Today, I am going out to patrol the forest, giving everyone a taste of the natural scenery in the Sichuan Province Nature Reserve,” he said.

Lin Tian put on his uniform, slung a bamboo basket over his shoulder, and prepared to head out for work. The previous two days, Wang Jian had accompanied him on patrols.

But today, it was Lin Tian’s first time patrolLin the forest alone.
