Chapter 1411: Chapter 972: Your Divine Body Is Ready
Ange has always been reluctant to recklessly use the Instant Death Halo here; without the Soul Network and a Faith System, almost all Divine Power comes solely from a few devoted followers like Graystick, Lise, and the orphans of the graveyard.
He has to be economical, saving it for use on the Face Purification Technique and even more sparing with the Rebirth Technique; as for the Goddess of Beauty Fist, he can forget about it, impossible to use.
The consumption of the Instant Death Halo is not small, especially when used over a large area, so Ange primarily uses it for breeding. But even just for breeding, the energy consumption is tremendous, so he can’t use it freely, resulting in little progress with Divine Plants.
Silver coin had already issued a bounty, but whether it was because of Orgal’s oppressive stance against the gods, making those who possessed Divine Plants afraid to show themselves, or because the price offered was too low, there had been no progress whatsoever.
Everyone thought it would be difficult to make headway and was preparing to take some time to ask a god about it, when unexpectedly, they discovered a Divine Plant in an unlikely place–a rabbit burrow.
The Swift Wind Rabbit’s nest was built in a meadow, and as the saying goes, “rabbits don’t eat grass by their burrows,” so the grass around its nest grew tall and dense, from which it would dart out like a cannonball every time it left home.
However, among the tall and dense grass, Ange found several small, fluffy plants, which he named Rabbit Tail Grass, short and small like rabbit tails, just a tiny clump.
Plants with Divine Power characteristics are called Divine Plants, and these Rabbit Tail Grass possess divinity. They can grow robustly even among the tall, dense grass because their fluff can penetrate space.
“They seem powerful, but the holes they make are too tiny, what use could this fine fluff be?” thought Negris uninterestedly upon discovering them, as she couldn’t figure out any functionality for such fine fluff making holes.
Yet, Ange happily propagated them: one was left in its original location, one transplanted to the Forest of Foehn Wind, one buried near where the rabbits defecate, and one planted in a weak spatial area.
After some time, the one in its original place remained unchanged, the one transplanted in the Forest of Foehn Wind lost its divinity and became ordinary grass, but those buried near the rabbit’s defecation pit and planted in the weak spatial area grew robustly.
However, there was not enough time, as Divine Plants generally grow over centuries, making it impossible to observe any changes.
Now that Little Ghost had arrived, Ange could again freely use Divine Power; one night was enough for him to cultivate the crops for more than ten generations.
Now in front of Ange was a rice plant as tall as a tree, its heavy ears of rice bending the stalks, each grain the size of a fist, but at the top of the rice spike was a huge bud.
At this moment, Ange was using Divine Power to support it, and the petals on its surface withered and fell off layer by layer under the Instant Death Halo, growing rapidly.
Negris wrinkled her brows and muttered after a while, “Does it have such a long flowering period? Without the Instant Death Halo, wouldn’t it take decades or centuries to bloom?”
No wonder Divine Plants sometimes take thousands of years just to germinate and bear fruit; with Ange’s acceleration, it took half a day to bloom. Under normal growth, without dozens or hundreds of years, it probably wouldn’t bloom at all–how much Divine Power would that waste?
Luckily, now that Little Ghost had arrived, this kind of consumption was just a trifle for the God of Light, not even as much as the Faith Elemental Force produced by believing in Ange.
This was actually an unreasonable mechanism; it believed in Ange, yet it was the God of Light. Ange coexisted with it, so the power produced by Ange’s faith returned to belong to it, essentially self-producing and self-consuming.
The energy matter in the Void is always constant, merely transforming from one state to another, ultimately returning to chaos.
But the only increase can be in the force on the level of consciousness, and it’s not necessarily an increase, but rather an energy released by turning chaos into order.
As for exactly which power it is, Ange isn’t quite sure either; he only knows that it’s thanks to this power that he can project from the Chaos Plane to here, and that Little Ghost also relied on the increasing strength of this power to travel here.
According to the analysis of Ancient Godlight, no substance should be able to leave the Energy Level Great Desert, so Ange had previously sent the Monarch’s consciousness out. But now looking at Little Ghost, it seems that substances can indeed leave.
With the power to transcend the Exalted Energy Level Wilderness, Ange could use Divine Arts from dawn till dusk.
After a full half hour under the Instant Death Halo, the rice plant must have grown for a hundred years; all the grains on the rice ears became shriveled, leaving only a flower bud.
However, before the rice ears shriveled, Ange plucked two grains and stored them away, then continued.
“This Dead Skull, still thinking of saving seeds at a time like this,” Negris replied with a cry of laughter.
Anthony said, “That’s what you call professionalism. Speaking of which, Lord Nage, would you consider farming in the territory of the Divine Light Alliance? I heard from that Bess that there’s a famine on a Plane at the border of the Divine Light Alliance, not far from here but too far from the center of the Alliance for them to provide relief. I’m asking if we should go take over?”
Negris glanced at Anthony, “You’re back to your old habits?”
Anthony responded, “How can you call it an old habit? I need hands! You only want me to work, but you don’t give me any men; I can’t just split myself in half. Even if I split, it still wouldn’t be enough. Otherwise I would have, since Lord Nage can heal me.”
“It’s an old habit, and an old habit it is, why make so many excuses? I really don’t understand you; you’re so scheming yet always like to save people. Could it be that being an Archbishop for too long has placed some kind of consciousness shackle on you?” Negris said, rather irritated.
It genuinely couldn’t understand Anthony. Anthony wasn’t exactly what you’d call kind-hearted, yet he couldn’t stand to see people suffering and always wanted to help. However, his way of helping wasn’t simply giving food and drinks but driving them to work; he never went easy on the idle and lazy and wouldn’t hesitate to deal with them harshly.
So he helped, and the more he helped, the richer he became. To those unaware, it might seem like he was profiting from disaster, but in reality, he saved many people. Judging by deeds and not by intentions, so he is a fit Pope, just something Negris couldn’t quite grasp.
Anthony paused, then said, “Didn’t I say before? I think I did, didn’t I? It’s the sense of achievement. When I see a messy place being organized by me into order, I feel a great sense of achievement.”
Seeing Negris’s skeptical expression, Anthony thought for a moment and said, “When I first arrived on the Master Plane, I worked as a Holy Trial Knight for the Mobile Court for a few lifetimes. In some remote areas, when winter snows fell, the herders would throw newborn lambs and babies into the snow to feed the wolves because they couldn’t sustain them. There were too many lambs; rather than letting everyone go hungry, it was better to sacrifice some to feed the wolves.”
“It’s such a waste to throw them away when, after a few years, they could help with work. I couldn’t allow such waste under my rule. I would rather lend them food to raise the lambs and then have them pay me back with wool later. Wouldn’t that be much better?”
Negris listened to the talk of raising lambs for work and shearing their wool and found it confusing, but then it recalled that sheep don’t birth in winter, and suddenly realized that this wasn’t about sheep at all, but rather about people.
Seeing the living people under his rule wasted like that indeed left no room for a sense of achievement.
Negris pursed its lips, “It’s been prepared for you all along. What do you think Ange is growing so much food for? The food Ange grows is for feeding people. Anyway, the food is ready for you, how you use it is up to you. If you can’t cope, just call for help–wouldn’t Ange save you?”
Anthony laughed, “We still need to report to Lord Nage. After all, you are who the Lord trusts most. Without you translating, we’d hardly understand what the Lord is saying.”
Negris crossed its arms, its tail slightly raised.
Just at that moment, the flower bud in Ange’s hands began to emit waves of Divine Power, slowly blooming. Inside there wasn’t any pistil, just a small humanoid baby.
“Rabbit, Rabbit, your Divine Body is ready,” Negris shouted.
