Chapter 250: Having Such a Daughter Only Feels Embarrassing
Chapter 250: Chapter 250: Having Such a Daughter Only Feels Embarrassing
Julian Lane shook his head secretly, feeling that Mrs. Summers was beyond help.
He asked, "Have you listened to those recordings on the internet? If you really have, you wouldn’t say such things."
"No!" Mrs. Summers shook her head desperately in denial, "Those recordings were fabricated by Serena, not made by Grace. Grace is the girl I have watched grow up since she was little, I know better than anyone how kind-hearted she is."
Julian Lane found it incredible.
How could anyone be so foolish?
It was their fault, they had protected Jeanette too well before, which led to her never experiencing the cruel ways of the world.
But even so, she shouldn’t neglect her own daughter and instead cherish someone else’s child like a treasure!
"Ask yourself, do you really think your excuse holds up? I’ve had experts verify it, all those recordings are real, there’s nothing fabricated."
Mrs. Summers’s mind went blank for a moment, she murmured, "What do you mean by that?"
Didn’t Grace say that all those recordings were fabricated by Serena?
Why would this be?
"It means that indeed, those words were spoken by Grace. Setting aside the recordings, what about the surveillance videos? It’s clear Grace intended to put Serena in mortal danger."
"You are really something, being played around by a teenage girl."
"Jeanette, where is your brain? You are an educated individual after all! What are you even thinking?"
...
Accusations kept revolving in Mrs. Summers’s mind, her brain buzzing noisily.
She suddenly felt like she couldn’t breathe.
Did she really... make a mistake?
No! That cannot be! How could Grace possibly be such a person? No, it can’t be!
She comforted herself over and over again in her heart.
Julian Lane quietly watched her, his eyes carrying a trace of sorrow.
This was his dearly pampered younger sister, how did she become what she is now?
"Now, do you still want me to save Grace?" he asked gravely.
Mrs. Summers snapped back to reality, nodded her head and firmly said, "Brother, no matter whether those things are true or not, I must rescue her."
"Are you mad?" Julian Lane laughed angrily.
He thought that after saying so much, Mrs. Summers would surely come to her senses.
But what happened? She still stuck to her own view, completely disregarding his words.
Mrs. Summers fell silent, just looking pitifully at Julian Lane.
Her eyes red and teary. Every time she looked at her brother with such an expression in the past, he would be softhearted.
She believed it would be the same this time.
But, she miscalculated this time.
Julian Lane looked at her coldly, his words seemed tinged with frost, "Give up. I will never save someone who tried to kill my niece. I told you the last time you came to me for help that it was the last time."
Tears instantly streamed down her cheeks, and Mrs. Summers’s legs gave in, collapsing to the ground, "Brother, are you truly going to be so heartless?"
At that moment, Julian Lane genuinely realized that the beloved little sister he once knew had died over twenty years ago.
The person before him now, he only felt as a stranger.
"The real heartless one, isn’t it you? Treating the Lane family that way over twenty years ago, and treating Serena the same two decades later. The last time I helped you was just out of the years of affection. From now on, fend for yourself."
With that, he stood up and left.
Mrs. Summers knelt on the cold ground, crying out of grievance.
...
Henry Summers and Yalena Grace also received the news.
Upon receiving the news, Henry immediately rushed to the apartment where Yalena lived.
This was a residence he specifically arranged for Yalena, private and more secluded, though such an apartment couldn’t compare to a villa.
Fortunately, Yalena was understanding and didn’t care about these external possessions.
As soon as he opened the door, Yalena, crying, threw herself at him, voicing her grievances pitifully.
Right now, Henry was in no mood for romance, he could only patiently comfort her a few words.
He paced back and forth in the apartment living room, so anxious that blisters formed in his mouth. But this time, Yalena didn’t play the role of the peacemaker as she usually did to cheer him up.
Instead, she sat alone on the sofa, sobbing continuously.
Her sobs kept echoing in his ears, buzzing annoyingly like flies, making him exceedingly irritated.
Finally, unable to stand it anymore, Henry roared, "Stop crying, your crying doesn’t solve any problems."
Yalena, startled by his shouting, quickly wiped her tears and dared not cry anymore.
With tears in her eyes, she asked, "What exactly is going on? Wasn’t she just released? Why was she taken again?"
"How would I know? You should ask your good daughter! All she does is cause me trouble, my face is almost completely lost because of her. Do you know how the shareholders are laughing at me behind my back?"
"Henry, think of a way, you must not let Grace get into trouble! She’s my only daughter!" Yalena clutched Henry’s sleeve, pitifully pleading.
Grace was her only support.
Henry doted on Grace so much because she was outstanding and had brought him great reputation.
If Grace was taken away again, if Henry felt disgraced and no longer cared for Grace, what would she do then?
Indeed, Henry didn’t want to deal with Grace anymore, after all, she wasn’t his only child.
Apart from Serena, he had three sons!
Each one of them exceptionally talented, he had no need to go to great lengths for one daughter.
But Yalena kept crying before him, talking about how hard she had it over these years, how wronged she felt.
Urging him to definitely save Grace.
His heart was filled with reliance on him.
This brought a great sense of satisfaction to Henry.
He harbored guilt towards Grace, and now his head spun, instantly promising he would do his best to rescue Grace.
He immediately called Mrs. Summers.
The call was quickly connected, and again he was greeted with sobs.
Impatiently he asked, "Did you find Julian Lane? Grace is suffering so much in the station, what use is your crying?"
His tone was full of blame and reproach.
Mrs. Summers felt even more aggrieved inside, sobbing as she explained, "I have already looked for him, but brother simply doesn’t want to help me."
"How useless can you be! You can’t even handle this little thing, aside from shopping, what else can you do? If you hadn’t left the Lane family back then, our family wouldn’t be in such dire straits now!"
Henry’s anger surged, unloading all his frustration onto Mrs. Summers.
Mrs. Summers didn’t expect to receive a scolding instead of comfort from her husband.
