Chapter 229: Please Apologize to My Wife

Chapter 229: Chapter 229: Please Apologize to My Wife

Grace Summers still couldn’t understand how Lucas Shaw appeared out of nowhere.

At that time, all her focus was on Serena Summers, and with her strength, Serena had no chance to fight back.

Even if things were exposed, she wasn’t afraid anymore.

After all, her current plight was all thanks to Serena.

If it weren’t for Serena, she would still be the much-adored Grace Summers.

Instead of now, being treated like a rat crossing the street that everyone wants to hit.

So, Serena deserves to die!

When the police came to interrogate her, Grace Summers didn’t say a word, only stating, "I want to see my lawyer."

They exchanged glances, then stood up and left.

Grace Summers watched their retreating figures and slowly breathed a sigh of relief.

However, after waiting a long time, the lawyer still hadn’t come, and she started to panic, sweating coldly on her forehead.

Could something have gone wrong?

Why haven’t Mr. and Mrs. Summers come over yet?

No! Her parents always cherished her the most, they definitely wouldn’t abandon her!

She comforted herself silently in her heart.

Serena Summers and Lucas Shaw walked out of the police station together, with her unquestionably holding his arm.

Lucas Shaw chuckled helplessly, "Is it really that serious? Your husband is not so fragile that he can’t even walk because of such a minor injury."

He had endured much more severe injuries.

He just didn’t want Serena to worry about him.

But Serena insisted, holding onto Lucas Shaw’s arm and refusing to let go, "Let’s go home, and I’ll apply more medicine for you. Let Brandon Reese handle today’s work at the company."

"Alright, as you wish." Lucas Shaw nodded and let Serena support him as they walked out.

Just as they were leaving the police station, they saw someone running towards them angrily, "Serena!"

Hearing the familiar voice, Serena slowly looked up towards the source of the sound, only to see Mrs. Summers approaching furiously, raising her arm high.

The slap swung towards her, carrying a gusting wind.

Serena’s eyes narrowed, and she instinctively tried to push Lucas Shaw aside, but the next moment, she found that Lucas Shaw had already tightly grasped Mrs. Summers’s hand.

The slap didn’t land, and Mrs. Summers stared with wide eyes, her heart trembling as she met Lucas Shaw’s murderous gaze.

Those eyes made her involuntarily shudder, sending a chill down her spine.

She shrank her hand back, trying to pull her wrist from Lucas Shaw’s grip, but he had no intention of letting her go.

"Mrs. Summers, please apologize to my wife."

Mrs. Summers looked bewildered, "Why should I apologize? Even if the slap didn’t land, there’s no reason for an elder like me to apologize to a younger one!"

In Mrs. Summers’s heart, Serena was just a daughter she discarded, unworthy of her concern.

But if she dared to harm Grace, then she wouldn’t let her off easily!

Serena scoffed, as if she had heard a huge joke.

"Elder? Claiming to be an elder also depends on whether you’re worthy! Surely some people don’t think that just being older qualifies them as elders?"

Serena’s merciless sarcasm stunned Mrs. Summers.

In Mrs. Summers’ mind, Serena Summers was still the silent and unimpressive type who never knew how to please her, and was always secretly bullying Grace Summers.

But now, how long has it been since they last saw each other? She has become so sharp-tongued!

Who gave her such confidence?

She scoffed, gripping her purse tightly, "Serena, what nonsense are you talking about? I am your..."

"What? My mother? So, are you really?" Serena looked up at her, her clear eyes calm and without ripples, but her words made Mrs. Summers inwardly cringe.

Yes, what exactly?

A mother?

She was no longer that.

After all, Serena had broken off relations with the Summers Family.

Her only daughter was Grace Summers.

That’s right, Grace!

Mrs. Summers finally remembered the purpose of her visit and coldly questioned, "I heard that Grace was taken to the police station by you? Serena, can’t you leave our Summers Family alone? Ever since you came back, our Summers Family hasn’t had a moment of peace. Were you born to be a scourge to our Summers Family?"

The tone carried undisguised malice.

These were heartfelt words from Mrs. Summers, blurted out in anger, but she overlooked that Serena was only 20 years old and might not be able to withstand such vitriolic words.

Fortunately, Serena was no longer upset by their harsh words to her.

She glanced over Mrs. Summers’ shoulder, suddenly chuckled lightly, "Mrs. Summers, I think you’re mistaken. It was Grace who first stabbed my husband with a knife, and then we called the police. As for the final outcome, I believe the police will give a fair result."

The implication was clear: if you feel wronged, go complain to the police.

After all, it was the police who arrested her.

Mrs. Summers choked up, furious to the point of tears, and shrilly yelled, "If you hadn’t driven her to a dead-end in the first place, would she have done such things? Serena, you cunning and wicked wolf in sheep’s clothing, you’re despicable!"

Looking at Mrs. Summers’ hysterical demeanor, Serena suddenly felt that there was no need for any explanation.

You can never awaken someone who is pretending to sleep.

With Mrs. Summers in this state, no matter how she explained, it probably wouldn’t make a difference.

She had already decided that Serena was the main cause of harm to Grace, so whatever Serena said, she would not believe a word.

In that case, Serena felt there was no need to waste any more time here.

"Husband, let’s go home."

"Okay, let’s go home." Lucas Shaw gave Mrs. Summers a deep look, his dark eyes flashing with a bloodthirsty glint that vanished in an instant.

Serena, supporting Lucas Shaw, passed by Mrs. Summers preparing to leave.

As they passed by Declan Summers and Evan Summers, their steps faltered briefly, "Keep your mother in check. If the slap had landed on Serena’s face, I assure you, however the Summers Family rose, I can make you disappear just the same."

Declan Summers and Evan Summers inwardly gasped, exchanging glances, not understanding the deeper meaning of Lucas Shaw’s words.

It wasn’t until the pair had walked some distance that Declan finally managed a bitter smile.

Evan, however, frowned and asked, "Brother, what did Lucas Shaw mean by his words?"

"Exactly what he said." Declan didn’t want to elaborate further, his footsteps heavy as he walked over to Mrs. Summers, a hint of sarcasm in his eyes.

Once upon a time, the brothers had treated Grace much like Mrs. Summers did, as if possessed, frantically wanting to give her everything best.

Unwilling to let her suffer the slightest grievance.

Only later did Declan realize how terribly wrong he was.
