Chapter 219: Chapter 219: Don’t Be Coquettish, It Ruins the Image
Vincent Carter suddenly stood up and waved his hands at everyone, "Listen up, everyone. Pack up and fly back to S City in three days. We’ll take official still photos then."
"In three days? Isn’t that too sudden?" Claire couldn’t help asking.
The film was already nearing the end of production. If it weren’t for the torrential rain, they might have finished shooting by now.
Now, all the scenes involving the lead roles had been completed, leaving only the second male and female roles.
In fact, if efficiency were high enough, their scenes could be done in just two days.
During these two days, the actors who had finished shooting could leave directly.
Two days later, once the film wraps up, Serena Summers packs up, ready to head back home.
She sits on the soft carpet, looking at the man sitting on the sofa, "What will happen to this villa after we all leave?"
Lucas Shaw turns off his phone and slowly looks over, "Don’t worry. Once the company’s investment plan is passed, this place will be developed into a tourist destination. Then, the price of this villa and the land will go up."
All in all, investing won’t be a loss.
Serena trusts Lucas’s judgment and chooses not to ask further.
Although the production team reimbursed the expenses, both Lucas and Serena still flew back on a private jet.
Having heard that grandpa had returned, they went straight home after landing.
Master Shaw was standing at the entrance of the villa, looking distantly from time to time, muttering, "Why haven’t they come back yet? This brat, making my granddaughter-in-law go to such a dangerous place without trying to stop her, that’s just infuriating!"
Mr. White chuckled on the side, "Who could change the Young Madam’s decision? Master, the young master has already checked in safely, ensuring the young lady would return unharmed."
"Hmph, you believe his nonsense. That godforsaken place, how could it be good?" Master Shaw, with his hands behind his back, was slightly hunched but still looked quite strong.
Mr. White, feeling helpless, chose not to continue the conversation.
He says one thing, but Master Shaw has ten to throw back at him.
Soon, a black car slowly stops in front of the villa, and Serena and Lucas get out of the car.
"Grandpa!" Serena goes over first, with a light smile on her face.
"Oh, good that you’re back, good that you’re back!" Master Shaw looks at Serena, his eyes couldn’t help getting a bit teary, "You’ve lost weight, it must be this brat’s fault for not taking care of you!"
Just getting off the car and being blamed already, Lucas: "..."
He touched his nose, finding it funny, "Grandpa, I’m wondering who the real family member is here?"
"What? You think I’m wrong?"
"Not at all. Grandpa, let’s go inside. What are we doing standing at the doorway?" Lucas changes the subject, assisting Master Shaw into the house.
At that moment, there came some noise from the car.
Everyone paused and turned back to look, only to see Adrian Shaw leaning against the window looking pitiful, "Did you forget me? I feel like I’m invisible here!"
Master Shaw was stunned for a moment, then burst into hearty laughter, "You’re back too?"
"Of course, I finished shooting. Grandpa, am I still your favorite grandson? I’m sticking my head so big on the car window and you just ignore me." Adrian felt aggrieved, realizing in less than three months, his status in the family had plummeted to this.
Is it the decay of morals, or the distortion of humanity?
Master Shaw patted his shoulder, "Good boy, you’ve grown taller."
"Grandpa, I’ve lost weight too, why don’t you sympathize with me?" Adrian wrapped his arms around Master Shaw’s arm, acting spoiled.
Master Shaw pushed him away with a look of disgust, "You’re so grown up, what’s wrong with losing some weight? Aren’t you still that idol? On the phone last time, you even said your agent told you to keep control of your figure!"
Adrian, once again disliked by his own grandpa: "..."
No love left!
He grumbled and whined, looking pitifully towards his elder brother, Lucas Shaw slowly shifted his gaze away.
Then he looked to his sister-in-law.
The sister-in-law tiptoed, lightly rubbed the top of Brother’s head and said, "There, there, no pouting. You’ll ruin your image."
A triple blow!
Adrian Shaw clutched his chest, aggrieved to the core.
The three others beside him were enjoying themselves, and he alone was the one hurt.
Right now, he missed his eldest brother terribly.
He glanced upstairs, unable to help himself he asked, "Grandfather, where’s mom? Where did she go?"
Normally, Elena Ryan hardly ever went out, and each time he returned, she would come out enthusiastically, taking his hands and asking after his well-being with warmth.
Even though he was somewhat unaccustomed to it, he knew that his mother cared about him.
But this time, he didn’t see her come out.
As soon as his words fell, the living room suddenly became quiet, everyone wearing varied expressions.
Master Shaw let out a heavy sigh, looking somewhat distressed.
Lucas Shaw too had a somber look on his face and remained silent.
Adrian Shaw finally realized that something was amiss, throwing a puzzled look at the butler.
Mr. White stood behind the sofa, leaned over, and whispered into his ear, "Madam has gone back to her family home, it was the Second Master who personally had her escorted back."
Adrian Shaw’s eyes widened in shock, "What happened? How could this be?"
Mr. White sighed deeply, his lips tightly sealed, refusing to disclose another word.
Seeing their expressions, there was little left for Adrian Shaw to ponder.
He sighed silently, hugging a cushion, feeling somewhat saddened, "It’s been so long, why can’t she learn to behave?"
"I think it’s because she’s been spoiled too much usually, making her forget who she is! If not, I doubt your brother would still be alive today," Master Shaw said sternly, his eyes filled with traces of a hard life.
Adrian Shaw’s mouth hung open, too shocked to speak.
"Grandfather, you’ve finished the Calming Tea I sent you, haven’t you? I’ve made some new batches, and these have even better effects. I’ll bring some over for you to try later," Serena Summers noticing the mood was off, immediately changed the subject.
Master Shaw’s attention was quickly diverted to the Calming Tea, he replied with a smile, "Good, Serena, your Calming Tea really works wonders. Before I returned to the country, that old friend of mine kept pestering me to send him more."
In the living room, the usual harmonious atmosphere quickly returned, the topic regarding Elena Ryan was swept aside, and no one dared to bring it up again.
The very next morning, Serena Summers had a quick breakfast and then headed for the shooting location.
Adrian Shaw was still sleeping in, so Serena Summers went alone. When she arrived at the makeup room, she found that many staff members were looking at her with complicated gazes.
Before she could make sense of their looks, she found that the makeup room that belonged to her was already taken over by someone else.
She pushed the door and entered, finding a crowd surrounding the mirror, speaking flattering and polite words.
Through the mirror, Serena Summers saw the face, it was Teresa Hamilton, the actress playing the fourth female lead.
She obviously saw Serena Summers, waved to the people around her, then stood up from the chair, sizing her up with a disdainful gaze, "Oh, isn’t this our connection-based actress who got in through the back door? What brought you here so late? Even Actress Tanner, such a big name, arrived early."
The mockery was almost written across her face.
