Forced to Marry the Sickly Billionaire -
Chapter 215: The New Villa
Chapter 215: Chapter 215: The New Villa
Vincent Carter’s expression remained calm, his tone cold as he reminded, "As the second male lead, your role is quite important. By the time your face heals, this movie would probably have finished shooting. Alexander Forrest, I’m not going to fuss over your double booking for now, but do you realize how much your delay costs the entire crew?"
Alexander Forrest’s body stiffened abruptly, his eyes widened in disbelief, "I—I don’t know what you’re talking about."
Vincent Carter scoffed coldly, his icy gaze falling upon Alexander’s bandaged face, "There are some things I’d prefer not to state outright, but you insist on playing dumb. Setting aside the double booking, Serena Summers is someone I specifically invited. She won’t accommodate your schedule, and neither will I, understand?"
Inviting Serena Summers was meant for an emergency.
He had turned a blind eye to Alexander’s double booking before.
But waiting solely for his injuries to heal was out of the question.
Having said what he wanted to say, Vincent Carter left without lingering.
After he left, Alexander Forrest took a long time to get a grip on himself.
Everything that happened today was too unexpected.
And he had completely lost the role.
All because of Grace Summers.
Just as he thought of Grace, his cell phone suddenly rang.
Picking up the phone, he let out a cold laugh—it was a call from Grace, speaking of the devil.
He answered the call, and a gentle, pleasant voice tinged with a bit of probing came through, "Brother Alexander, how did everything go today? Has Serena’s attitude towards you changed?"
Alexander’s hand tightened on the phone, he roared in a low voice, "Grace, why didn’t you tell me earlier that Serena is Declan Summers’ biological sister? Are you deliberately trying to screw me over?"
Grace was taken aback, how did Alexander know this?
Did Serena tell him?
Suppressing her confusion, she replied sweetly, "Brother Alexander, I thought you knew, since she also has the surname Summers. I didn’t mean to hide it from you, I just thought it wasn’t necessary."
Not necessary?
Was she afraid that if he knew Serena’s identity, he wouldn’t follow her plan?
How had he not realized before that Grace was such a scheming person?
"You make it sound so easy. Today Declan beat me up for Serena’s sake and warned me to stay away from her! Grace, you used me as a pawn and still want to deceive me!" Alexander clenched his phone in anger, wishing he could unleash all his fury on her.
Grace shook her head, "Impossible! Declan hates Serena, how could he possibly stand up for her?"
"How is it impossible? I’m still in the hospital right now! If not for you, I wouldn’t have been beaten up, nor would I have lost the role! Grace, you just wait, I will not let you off!"
After hanging up, Alexander held his head, his brow furrowed in pain.
How many people would kill for a role in Director Carter’s film? Yet, due to Serena, he had lost such a golden opportunity!
Damn it!
Alexander slammed the table in anger, so absorbed in thought he forgot about the injury on his hand.
"Ah! It hurts, it hurts..." Pain shot through his hand, almost making Alexander jump out of the chair.
Then the phone rang again.
Thinking it was Grace, Alexander yelled impatiently, "How many times have I said it, don’t contact me ever again! You’ve already ruined me!"
"What are you yelling for? You lost the role and you think you’re in the right? Alexander Forrest, you’ve grown capable!"
Hearing the familiar voice, Alexander snapped back to reality, "Brother Harvey?"
Brother Harvey, Quentin Harvey was his agent.
Before Alexander could explain, Quentin bellowed, "I was counting on this role to revive your career, and you let me down this much! Get your ass back here now!"
Alexander felt as if he had been struck by lightning.
He knew he was completely out of options now.
Serena Summers knew nothing about what had happened today.
Lucas Shaw waited for her at the bottom of the mountain as usual. She climbed into the car and gave him a bear hug, "Weren’t you out inspecting a project? If you’re busy, you don’t need to pick me up every day."
"I’ve pretty much finished the inspections; besides, I don’t feel comfortable with anyone else picking you up," Lucas Shaw said, with his arms wrapped around Serena Summers’ waist, his eyes narrowing with a layer of amusement.
"I’ll take you somewhere."
"Where are we going?" Serena Summers lifted her cheek from his shoulder and looked at him puzzled.
Lucas Shaw gave a mysterious smile, "You’ll find out when we get there."
He wouldn’t reveal it, so Serena Summers didn’t ask further.
Soon, the car arrived near a small villa and slowly came to a stop.
"Where is this?"
"Come in and have a look." Lucas Shaw took Serena Summers by the hand, alighted from the car, and led her inside.
Prosperity Hill was near a city that wasn’t economically developed, but the scenery was beautiful, and the architecture of the district was distinctive.
Many people came just for that.
Serena Summers never expected to see villas in this small county town.
Although not big, it looked exquisite and beautiful from the outside, and even had a small courtyard with a flower garden.
In the midst of summer, the flowers were all blooming competitively, looking vibrant and full of life.
Serena Summers stared blankly at the scene in front of her, slightly stunned, "Did you buy this?"
"Mhm. You’re going to be filming here and living here for a while. We can’t always stay in a hotel, so I had Brandon Reese find a house."
This house hadn’t been lived in before, as there were hardly any people in the county town who could afford a villa.
So since it was developed, it had always been vacant.
These past few days, aside from inspecting land, Lucas Shaw had arranged for people to come and decorate.
In less than half a month, this place had been completely renovated.
Lucas Shaw took Serena Summers upstairs and the moment he opened the door, Serena Summers’ eyes widened.
Inside, the decor looked simple, but there were touches of colors she liked.
The bedroom was large, and the walls were adorned with balloons and string lights arranged in the shape of a heart.
In the middle of the heart, there was a selfie of her and Lucas Shaw.
She had taken it proactively.
Lucas Shaw, normally completely clueless about romance, didn’t even have a single photo to be found.
So that day, Serena Summers had the sudden impulse to ask Lucas Shaw to take photos with her, striking various poses.
There were ones with cat-face filters, ones where they made heart shapes with their hands, and ones where they kissed each other.
Now seeing these photos hung on the wall, an embarrassment suddenly welled up in Serena Summers’ heart.
She raised her hand to her cheek, her limpid eyes blinking as she turned her head to look at Lucas Shaw, "Did you prepare all this?"
"Mhm." Lucas Shaw nodded, ushering Serena Summers to come further inside.
The floor of the room was covered with a layer of soft carpet, pink with many cute cartoon patterns.
It didn’t match Lucas Shaw’s personality at all.
Lucas Shaw walked on it, maintaining a calm and composed look throughout, as if the clouds were light and the breeze was gentle, yet with a hint of indifference.
Cool and aloof, just one glance from a distance could instill a touch of fear.
