Chapter 204: Chapter 204 The Most Gorgeous Kid on Set
"I understand, thank you for your concern, senior brother." Serena Summers lifted her face, a shallow smile hanging on her face.
The young girl’s cheeks were charming and striking, still dressed in a cheongsam, clearly the most dazzling and sexy attire, yet whenever she smiled, she appeared incredibly adorable.
So soft and cute like a little animal, it made people want to reach out and touch.
Vincent Carter’s hands itched for a moment, and he gently placed his warm palm on the top of her head, ruffling it.
The fluffy and soft touch was irresistible.
Serena covered her head and stepped back, giving him a reproachful glare, "Second senior brother, you’ve messed up my hairstyle."
"It’s not messy. Our Serena, even with tousled hair, is still the brightest star on set!"
Serena was immediately pleased by his words, dropping her hands and chuckling.
"Seeing as you’re sweet-talking, I’ll forgive you this time!"
Vincent Carter looked expressionless, but his heart was actually thrilled inside.
His little junior sister, how adorable is she?
If it weren’t for the presence of so many people, and his cool persona couldn’t crumble, he would definitely pinch her face just like when they were kids.
As they left the scene, it was already dark.
Serena got into the second senior brother’s car and returned to the hospital.
Dean Carter and his team had already left, and the number of patients visiting the hospital these days was decreasing.
Serena came to the hospital because she promised to help treat the elderly.
The hospital had already performed a full-body examination on the elderly and found signs of worsening conditions.
When she arrived at the ward, Serena saw a familiar person.
William David, her college senior.
Seeing her, William David’s face lit up, unconsciously stepping forward, close to Serena.
"Serena, I’ve heard about what happened these past few days. You’re really incredible, solving the hospital’s problems in such a short time."
Serena smiled lightly as she walked to the bedside, "It’s nothing, just doing what I should."
"How are you feeling today, sir? Any discomfort?"
The elderly man, being of old age, was a bit slow to respond. After a few seconds, he slowly shook his head, "No discomfort, thank you, doctor."
She nodded, checked his pulse, and then began the treatment.
There were many patients in the ward watching, and some even took out their phones to record the scene.
By the time she was done and left the hospital, it was around ten o’clock in the evening.
Serena was famished, feeling a bit dizzy.
She rummaged through her bag and found that she had already eaten all her candy.
"Junior sister." Someone came out chasing after her, footsteps rapid.
Serena stopped, turning her head to look back, and saw William David walking out from inside, his face somewhat anxious.
"What’s the matter?"
William David was breathing heavily, leaning on his knees and gasping for a while before speaking, "Last time was a bit hurried, I forgot to add you on WeChat. Junior sister, do you mind if we exchange WeChat contacts?"
Lucas Shaw walked in just in time to witness this scene.
In the hospital lobby, the girl’s eyes sparkled with a smile, and the man opposite her had an intense gaze, his hand nervously clenching his clothes, holding out his phone to her.
The sight was somewhat irritating.
Serena paused for a moment, then nodded, pulling out her phone from her bag, and added William David on WeChat.
"Serena."
A deep voice came from behind. Serena turned her head and saw Lucas Shaw, walking steadily towards her and stopping in front of her.
"Have you finished your work?"
Seeing him, Serena Summers’ eyes lit up.
"Um." Lucas Shaw glanced at William David indifferently, nodded towards him, and then turned his gaze back to Serena.
"Let’s go, back to the hotel."
"Okay." Serena let him take her hand, and they walked towards the door.
Before leaving, she waved to William David, "Senior, we are going back now. Good night."
William David stood still, watching their fading figures for a long time, until they got into the car, then he muttered, "Good night."
Watching the car drive away, William David lowered his eyes in disappointment.
He now regretted not having met Serena earlier.
They had even attended the same school. A year ago, his advisor had mentioned that he should visit his alma mater, saying there was a genius in the medical field, a young girl, whom he wanted to introduce to him.
At the time, he didn’t take it seriously, even thinking that if his advisor was worried about marriage, the girl must have some flaws unknown to outsiders.
Thinking about it now, he felt immense regret.
But it was too late for regrets.
Serena was already married to someone he could never catch up to in his lifetime.
William David sighed deeply, looking at the girl’s WeChat on his phone, suddenly feeling sad.
"Dr. David, haven’t you left work yet?" Julia Lawrence immediately walked up to him when she saw William David.
"I’m about to leave." William David hid his despondency, reverting to his usual polite but distant demeanor.
Julia Lawrence’s heart leapt with joy, "Perfect, I’m also off work, we are going the same way, maybe..."
"Nurse Lawrence, I have plans tonight, so I’ll be going first." William David cut her off, quickly leaving with his phone in hand.
Once he returned to his rented house, William David stared blankly at Serena’s chat box.
After a long while, he finally gathered the courage and started typing into the chat box.
...
In the car, Lucas Shaw remained silent, his thin lips tightly sealed into a straight line, leaning stiffly against the back of the seat.
His face was so gloomy it looked as though ink could drip from it at any moment.
He turned his head towards the car window, waiting for Serena to coax him.
But after a long wait, there was no movement by his side.
Losing his patience, he turned his face back and then was startled.
Serena was already asleep, leaning against the backrest.
The small town was not very economically developed, and the roads were somewhat rugged and uneven, causing the car to shake.
Serena’s head rested against the car window, and with the car’s rattling, her brows were tightly furrowed, and she wasn’t sleeping peacefully.
Seeing her like this, any gloom in Lucas Shaw’s heart dissipated in an instant.
He leaned over, softened his movements, and supported Serena’s head, shifting her to lean on his shoulder.
Just then, the car suddenly jolted violently, and Serena’s body slid off his shoulder, nearly falling onto his lap.
Lucas Shaw quickly caught her head and pressed it back onto his shoulder, his voice stern, "Drive steadily."
Brandon Reese, who was driving, didn’t dare to breathe too loud, though inwardly he cried injustice!
It was the road that was difficult to navigate!
It had nothing to do with his driving skills!
A few minutes later, the car finally stopped in front of the hotel.
Lucas Shaw carried Serena in his arms from the car, bringing her back to their hotel room.
Just as he placed Serena on the bed, his phone vibrated with a notification.
