Chapter 173: The Cave Cave
Chapter 173: Chapter 173: The Cave Cave
"Serena, why are you still here? Didn’t they say there will be a violent storm soon?"
As Vincent Carter walked into the tent, he saw Serena Summers changing into rescue clothes.
While he spoke, Serena was putting on a raincoat.
She slowly turned her head, "Second Senior Brother, Declan Summers and Adrian Shaw haven’t been found yet."
Vincent Carter immediately understood what she wanted to do, he frowned and disapprovingly said, "It’s too dangerous here. I do not agree with you going. The rescue team has already arrived; they will look for them. Don’t add to the chaos."
"I want to find them myself, otherwise I won’t be at ease." Serena bent down, slung a backpack over her shoulder, her tone firm, and her clear almond eyes shimmered with seriousness.
Vincent Carter, "...You’ve really grown up, not even listening to your Second Senior Brother anymore? Go back, this is no place for a girl like you."
Vincent Carter lowered his gaze, his tone somewhat heavy, "Moreover, it’s not just the two of them missing. There are also two female actors and three extras missing."
Serena was not surprised by his response, and lightly laughed as she patted the backpack behind her, "That’s why I need to stay. If there are tough injuries, I can still lend a hand."
"You..."
Vincent Carter didn’t expect Serena to be so stubborn.
He gritted his teeth, picked up another backpack from the ground, and headed outside, "If you must go, I must accompany you. I won’t stop you from wanting to rescue people, but I have to ensure your safety."
Serena, feeling helpless, softly pleaded, "Second Senior Brother, you should stay here. In case they come back on their own when the rain stops, you’d be here to meet them."
Vincent Carter’s temples bulged as he visibly restrained himself, his lips tightly pressed together forming a straight line, remaining silent without agreeing.
Serena stretched out her hand to tug on his sleeve, her tone earnestly promising, "Second Senior Brother, don’t worry. I absolutely won’t let anything happen to myself! Declan Summers is essentially my second elder brother by blood, and Adrian Shaw is Lucas Shaw’s little brother. I cannot just ignore them."
Seeing that he couldn’t persuade Serena, Vincent Carter sighed deeply, "Forget Adrian Shaw, but what’s so important about Declan Summers to make you worry?"
Before the storm, Edward Selwyn had visited the filming site and told him everything that happened to Serena.
Thus, Vincent Carter was entirely aware of the grievances Serena faced within the Summers Family.
Before that, Vincent Carter had always admired Declan Summers, an acting emperor whose skills were impeccable, and his portrayed characters were incredibly lifelike. He was able to overshadow many actors in the entertainment industry who did not bother refining their skills.
Unfortunately, he belonged to the Summers Family.
Once Vincent Carter learned Declan was Serena’s actual elder brother, he looked unfavorably upon him, even growing to dislike him more as he observed.
He wondered if the Summers Family was blind, otherwise how could they mistake trash for treasure?
Serena laughed softly and shook her head, her gaze calm and indifferent, showing no sadness, "Second Senior Brother, those events are in the past. I don’t care about them anymore. I’ve severed ties with the Summers Family, and to me, Declan Summers is just an actor under Starfare Entertainment, nothing more."
Vincent Carter looked into Serena’s eyes, and seeing truly no trace of sadness, he finally relaxed.
He reached out and tousled Serena’s hair, his lips slightly curving, "You have us, that’s enough. They are blind to your value, they will regret it one day!"
After leaving the tent, Frank Lane learned that she insisted on joining the search and immediately arranged for several subordinates to follow her.
Serena couldn’t refuse, so she let them accompany her.
But Prosperity Hill was really too vast, searching for people was difficult, and after the rainstorm ended, several landslides and mudslides erupted across the mountain.
Several subordinates accidentally slipped and rolled down the slope.
Luckily, they were trained and didn’t sustain serious injuries, and trees knocked down by the storm on the ground blocked them, quickly halting their descent.
Serena carefully walked a few steps downhill towards them, extending her hand, "Come up quickly."
Their eyes brightened as they looked at Serena with gratitude, grasping her arms, and struggling to climb up.
After all that scrambling, their clothes were already stained with mud, but they couldn’t care less about it.
Because the weather was changing.
The once dispersed dark clouds were once again gathering overhead.
Thunder rumbled from afar, drawing nearer and nearer while the sky grew darker.
Only the blue-purple lightning occasionally flashed within the thick clouds, looking particularly frightening.
"Miss, shall we go back? It’s too dangerous here."
"The rain is about to start, we can’t go back now, let’s find a place to take shelter first." Serena Summers looked up at the sky, her expression growing increasingly grim.
They walked a bit further, when suddenly one of the subordinates exclaimed in surprise, pointing ahead, "Miss, look! There’s a cave ahead!"
Serena Summers followed the direction pointed by her subordinate and glimpsed it, her eyes instantly lighting up, "Let’s go check it out."
The cave was hidden amongst the mountain woods, obscured by numerous trees, and easily overlooked.
Serena Summers led her few subordinates toward the direction of the cave.
The cave was not very big; inside, it was pitch-black, showing no trace of light.
Serena Summers immediately took out a flashlight from her bag and waved it towards the inside of the cave.
At that moment, a rustling sound suddenly came from inside, making everyone outside the cave tense up and pay full attention to the cave.
"Could it be some wild animal? I heard Prosperity Hill has many wild animals..."
He didn’t continue his words, but his voice had already started to tremble.
"Don’t be afraid, let’s not make any rash movements." Serena Summers raised her hand to the people behind her, signaling them not to move forward.
Hearing Serena Summers’s voice, their frantic hearts seemed to be soothed.
Watching Serena Summers’s thin back, they felt as if they had found a mainstay, and their hearts gradually stabilized.
"Is, is someone there?"
Just when Serena Summers was hesitating whether or not to enter, a weak and powerless voice suddenly came from inside the cave.
Serena Summers’s heart clenched tightly, and she quickened her pace toward the cave.
Seeing this, her subordinates immediately followed her.
Once inside the cave, Serena Summers finally illuminated the person inside with her flashlight.
It was Declan Summers, who had been missing for two days, and in the corner, there was another person curled up, their true appearance indiscernible.
The person was covered with a thin coat, and judging from the body shape, it seemed to be a man.
Serena Summers guessed that this person might be Adrian Shaw.
But it was just a guess.
When Declan Summers heard footsteps outside, his eyes suddenly brightened.
The rainstorm on Prosperity Hill came suddenly without any warning, and taking advantage of a break after filming, he and Adrian Shaw strolled around the mountain.
The air here was fresh, and with no cellphone signal, it allowed for a brief respite from the tumultuous entertainment industry.
