Chapter 170: Chapter 170: The Disciple of The Divine Healer
The next second, the airplane door opened, revealing a familiar figure.
Serena Summers waved her hand from above, and Vincent Carter, overwhelmed with emotion, teared up and braved the rain to meet her.
"Serena."
As soon as Serena Summers disembarked, she was embraced in a full hug.
Vincent Carter was covered in dirt, his clothes worn and tattered, soiled with mud to the point that their original appearance could hardly be discerned, plus there were several holes.
That face, which was always handsome, now sported a beard and looked much more weathered.
Vincent Carter’s stubble pricked against Serena Summers’s fair and delicate cheeks, which quickly turned red.
However, Serena Summers did not push him away, allowing him to hold her, then slowly raised her arm to hug him back, gently patting his back, comforting him without a word.
Soon, Serena Summers felt a dampness on her neck.
She blinked in surprise.
In her memory, Vincent Carter had always been dandyish and casual, with a touch of OCD, maintaining his hairstyle and clothes impeccably neat at all times.
It was the first time she had seen Vincent Carter in such a disheveled state.
Moreover, as a child, Vincent Carter was often chased around the mountains by his master for punishments and never shed a tear, yet now he was crying...
Her second senior brother must have suffered a great deal.
Serena Summers pursed her lips, patted his back again, then looked up and met several pairs of curious and gossip-filled eyes.
Tentatively, several heads poked out of the tents; all of them had wide eyes, faces full of curiosity, scrutiny, and surprise.
Vincent Carter also realized that he had lost his composure, quickly letting go of Serena Summers, wiping the tears from the corner of his eyes, pretending as if nothing had happened.
"Serena, why are you here? Where’s Edward Selwyn? How could he let you come here alone?"
Serena Summers looked at Vincent Carter’s face and replied honestly, "I didn’t tell big senior brother. If I had told him, he definitely wouldn’t have allowed me to come."
"Nonsense! It’s dangerous here, you should hurry back!" Vincent Carter frowned, pacing anxiously on the spot.
Serena Summers patted his arm, stretched out her fair fingers, and pointed upwards, "I brought emergency supplies here. After all, I am the president of Starfare Entertainment. If something happened to you guys, I cannot shirk my responsibility. Second senior brother, let me stay and help."
"No way! It’s too dangerous here; you need to go back, immediately! Right now!"
Vincent Carter was resolute, waving to Frank Lane not far away, commanding, "Quick, take her back, don’t let her stay here anymore."
"Second senior brother, please let me stay. The rain will stop soon, but the rescue team hasn’t arrived yet. You probably need more hands to help, and besides, I have medical skills."
Hearing this, Vincent Carter suddenly thought of the two girls currently lying inside the tent, and he hesitated.
Seeing his softened stance, Serena Summers immediately waved to Frank Lane, "Frank Lane, hurry and get the medical kit, and bring some food too."
Frank Lane promptly returned to the helicopter and took the supplies out.
Those who had previously been hiding in the tents, too scared to come out, now showed a look of joy on their faces upon seeing several helicopters.
Vincent Carter turned his head and met several pairs of surprised and gossiping eyes.
He cleared his throat, took Serena Summers into the tent, and introduced her to everyone, "This is my junior sister, Serena Summers."
The group gazed at Serena Summers, their expressions full of amazement.
After days of suffering, they finally saw the person who had come to rescue them.
They had thought there would be a rescue team, but they hadn’t expected it would be just one woman.
Serena Summers appeared petite and delicate, her cheeks were as pale and tender as a minor, incongruous with the dire environment here, like a pampered young lady who has never known the suffering of the world.
Especially since she was dressed in casual clothes, which made her look even smaller.
The crowd, who had thought they might be rescued, now showed disappointed expressions, the light in their eyes dimming instantly.
It seemed they got happy too soon.
Even if this girl brought rescue supplies, how much longer could they last?
Many of them were injured, and some already had colds and fevers nearing forty degrees Celsius.
Without treatment, they would die soon.
Especially Crystal Harper, given her condition, likely couldn’t hold on much longer, and who knew when medical staff would arrive.
"Hello," Serena greeted them with a nod.
People in the tent looked displeased, none of them responding.
Serena didn’t take these small things to heart; instead, she quickly turned her gaze to the two women lying together.
She walked over swiftly, her fair fingertips gently resting on the wrists of the two girls to check their pulses, her expression growing increasingly grave.
"Frank Lane, give me the medicine box."
Frank stepped forward immediately, placing the medicine box on the ground.
With a "snap," the medicine box was opened, revealing various porcelain bottles and jars inside.
Serena quickly found a bottle, took out a pill, and prepared to administer it to Claire Tanner.
However, before her fingers could touch her lips, someone suddenly blocked her.
"What are you doing? Little sister, considering you are Director Carter’s apprentice, we allowed you to come in. But it’s better if you don’t touch Actress Tanner while she has a fever, lest you get infected. Don’t blame us then."
"That’s right! Little sister, don’t cause trouble! We appreciate the supplies you brought us, but you can’t just give Actress Tanner anything to eat!"
Several men showed disapproval on their faces.
Vincent Carter’s face immediately darkened as he said in a low voice, "Serena is trying to save her; you are the ones causing trouble!"
Serena withdrew her hand, her demeanor neither servile nor overbearing but her expression ice-cold, "I understand your feelings at this moment. Let me introduce myself again. My name is Serena Summers, and I’m the apprentice of The Divine Healer, Victor Bennett. My medical skills are passable. If you don’t receive timely treatment, many of you could end up with brain damage due to the fever, or even shock, and more seriously, death. Are you sure you still want to stop me?"
Serena had never intentionally concealed her identity, she just didn’t want to bring it up all the time.
But this was an emergency.
Whether it was Claire Tanner, Crystal Harper, or anyone else on the team, if they didn’t receive treatment soon, they could develop into influenza, which would be troublesome.
"The Divine Healer?" Many showed puzzled and bewildered expressions.
How could this be possible?
The legendary medical expert, a traditional Chinese medicine genius, The Divine Healer, Victor Bennett?
He was always elusive; ordinary people might not even get to meet him.
How could Serena possibly be his apprentice?
Moreover, even if she truly was the apprentice of The Divine Healer, was she of age yet?
Could she really heal the injuries of Crystal and the others?
