Chapter 167: Chapter 167 Lucas Shaw is a Jerk
Seeing this, Charlotte Summers immediately explained, "This group is for the socialites of S City. Many renowned women from prominent families in S City are in here, we usually share gossips and the like."
Serena Summers nodded knowingly, "Oh, so what?"
Charlotte Summers leaned in, her fair fingertips tapping on the phone screen, and spoke angrily, "Look, doesn’t this photo look familiar?"
"Sylvia Lane?" Serena Summers raised her eyebrows slightly, suddenly realizing something was amiss.
She clicked on the photo, and as it enlarged, Serena Summers instantly understood what was wrong.
The location where Sylvia Lane took the photo was at the Continental Villa, Lucas Shaw’s, oh, now it was her home as well.
And it was in their bedroom.
The necklace Sylvia Lane was wearing was exactly the one Lucas Shaw gave her yesterday.
"Sylvia Lane was supposed to be driven out of the Shaw Family, wasn’t she? Why would she still show off on her social circle that Lucas Shaw gave her a present? How could this be! Could it mean... Lucas Shaw is a total scumbag?"
Charlotte Summers was so agitated she was almost out of breath, she didn’t even refer to him as Mr. Lucas Shaw and directly called him by his name, her words devoid of any mercy.
In her heart, Serena Summers was already her sister, and if her own sister was wronged, she must stand up for her first!
Thinking of someone as noble and aloof as Lucas Shaw doing such things, all of Charlotte Summers’ previous admiration for him vanished, replaced by intense disgust and aversion.
She hated cheaters the most!
Involuntarily, she looked at Liam Shaw with disdain.
Liam Shaw, who was inexplicably glared at several times: "..."
He touched his nose and stepped forward, taking the phone from Serena Summers, looking at the chat interface displayed on the screen, and his lips pressed into a straight line involuntarily.
He turned off the phone and nervously glanced at Serena Summers’ expression.
Serena Summers gazed downwards, her expression calm, showing no signs of disturbance.
But he was still a bit frantic and explained on behalf of Lucas Shaw: "Serena, don’t believe these. Lucas has already sent Sylvia Lane away and will definitely not take her back. I guarantee that if Sylvia Lane comes back, Lucas would be completely unaware."
"I believe him. Big brother, you don’t need to worry," said Serena Summers with a slight chuckle. Did she look like someone who’d wrongfully accuse others without understanding the situation?
Liam Shaw awkwardly touched his nose, feeling a bit embarrassed.
He indeed was over-concerned.
He took out his phone and sent two messages to Lucas Shaw.
After Sylvia Lane was chased away, Lucas Shaw ordered Brandon Reese to gather all the domestic workers in the living room.
He sat on the sofa, legs crossed, his demeanor cold and indolent, not uttering a word.
The domestic workers were nervous and unsure of what had happened.
But Lucas Shaw’s aura was too overpowering; they had many questions, but they dared not voice them, and kept their concerns buried in their hearts.
Only Fiona Hamilton kept her head buried low, wishing she could find a crack in the ground to crawl into.
The moment she learned that Sylvia Lane had been taken away by the police, she knew she was done for.
"I called you all together today because something happened."
As Fiona Hamilton’s thoughts were in turmoil, Lucas Shaw suddenly spoke.
His indifferent voice carried an indescribable chill; even though it was summer, it sent shivers down one’s spine.
Fiona Hamilton lowered her head even more, her hands clasped tightly at her side, her forehead breaking out in cold sweat from anxiety.
The domestic workers didn’t know what had happened and looked at each other, whispering among themselves.
Lucas Shaw’s dark, deep eyes narrowed slightly. His gaze swept over the faces of everyone, taking in their expressions.
"If someone steps forward to confess, I might let things slide. But if I have to find out myself, it won’t be that simple."
Fiona Hamilton’s legs gave out, and she fell to the ground. "Sir, I know I was wrong! I really do! I’ll never dare to do it again, please forgive me!"
Lucas Shaw looked at Fiona Hamilton, who was bitterly begging with tears streaming down her face, feeling completely indifferent. He waved at Brandon Reese behind him and coldly ordered, "Take her away, and make sure I never see her again."
At those words, Brandon Reese stepped forward and pulled Fiona Hamilton out.
The other domestic workers were startled by the scene in front of them.
They had always known that Lucas Shaw was cool and had a temper, but they had never seen him like this.
Many were frightened by the scene before them, but they endured, not daring to make a sound.
After Brandon Reese took Fiona Hamilton away, Lucas Shaw spoke indifferently, "I don’t want a repeat of today’s incident. Also, Serena Summers is my wife. If any of you dare to disrespect her, this will be your fate."
Having said that, he left without looking back.
The domestic workers came back to their senses, only to realize their backs were soaked.
Too frightening!
No wonder those outside said that Lucas Shaw was decisive and ruthless, not sparing any sentiment when he got tough.
They had never taken these comments seriously before; in their eyes, Lucas Shaw was just bit cold and indifferent.
Only now did they realize that Lucas Shaw was not quick to anger daily because nothing had touched his bottom line.
And his bottom line was Serena Summers.
When Serena Summers got off work and returned home in the evening, she was surprised to find that the attitude of the domestic workers at Continental Villa had changed drastically.
As soon as she entered the door, someone greeted her warmly, even someone helped her take out slippers from the shoe cabinet when she was changing shoes.
Every face was adorned with a flattering and ingratiating smile.
Serena Summers was puzzled by all this, having no idea what had happened.
She was about to ask when she heard steady footsteps from behind.
Turning around, she met Lucas Shaw’s strikingly handsome face.
"Husband!" Serena Summers opened her arms and plunged into the man’s embrace, the corners of her mouth slightly curving up, pointing with her finger to the trembling maids behind her, "Husband, what’s going on?"
"Why didn’t you tell me earlier that they bullied you in my absence? Serena, it’s my fault. I always say I’ll give you the best of everything, yet even these small things have troubled you."
Serena Summers showed a hint of surprise, followed by a resigned chuckle, "It’s not a big deal, I didn’t take it to heart."
"You’re the mistress of this house, and I absolutely will not permit anyone to bully you, no one, not even myself," Lucas Shaw said, gazing down, tenderly rubbing the top of Serena Summers’ head.
Witnessing the focused and earnest look in Lucas Shaw’s eyes, Serena Summers’ heart was filled with emotion.
She tiptoed up, leaned in, and gently kissed the man’s lips.
Lucas Shaw’s eyes darkened, he bent down and scooped Serena Summers into his arms, striding towards the upstairs.
The domestic workers watched this scene happen, suddenly coming to a realization.
