Forced to Marry the Sickly Billionaire
Chapter 140: Had Enough Yet?

Chapter 140: Chapter 140: Had Enough Yet?

Elena Ryan’s eyes were bloodshot and she glared at Serena Summers furiously: "Say that again, I dare you!"

"Saying it ten times over won’t change a thing. I don’t have time for idle chatter with you, please step aside."

Elena Ryan stood on the steps, glaring down at Serena Summers.

Yet Serena Summers, looking up, matched Elena Ryan’s intensity without backing down.

Elena Ryan was infuriated by this response, raising her arm and violently swinging at Serena Summers.

Serena Summers’ pupils dilated instantly, and she instinctively dodged to the side.

With her swing missing its mark, Elena Ryan’s body staggered, and she fell towards the bottom of the stairs.

Instinctively, she stretched out her arms to grasp at something, yet ultimately, she caught only air.

Her body fell straight towards the floor, making a dull noise upon impact.

A sharp pain surged forth, and Elena Ryan cried out in pain, her face tightly scrunched up.

"Serena Summers!" Elena Ryan shouted angrily.

Serena Summers gave her a cold look, then turned and walked upstairs, leaving behind an indifferent and resolute back.

Sylvia Lane hurried over, helping Elena Ryan up from the ground, "Auntie, are you alright? Did you hurt yourself? Do you need me to call a doctor over?"

Elena Ryan frowned and waved her hand dismissively, "No need."

Isn’t it enough embarrassment?

Sylvia Lane’s expression was awkward, and she angrily said, "Serena Summers is really too rude, how could she treat you like that!"

"When has she ever been well-mannered? Ever since she married into this family, peace has never been restored," Elena Ryan clenched her fists and spoke through gritted teeth.

Sylvia Lane’s eyes flickered with a hint of satisfaction as she said, "Auntie, it seems Serena Summers has an extra men’s coat on her, one I’ve never seen before..."

"What?" Elena Ryan was momentarily stunned and couldn’t respond.

She had been too busy being angry earlier and hadn’t noticed what Serena Summers was wearing.

Now upon reflection, it seemed there indeed was an extra coat on her.

That coat surely wasn’t Lucas Shaw’s.

Elena Ryan furrowed her brows, "Whose could it be then?"

Seeing Elena Ryan deep in thought, Sylvia Lane’s lips curved up slightly, "Auntie, I remember Serena Summers just moved to S city not long ago, does she have any male friends here that we don’t know about? For her to be wearing his coat, their relationship must be out of the ordinary."

Reminded by Sylvia Lane, Elena Ryan suddenly realized the gravity of the situation.

Indeed, Serena Summers hasn’t been here long, how could she possibly know any men other than the Shaw family members?

Could it be that she has a lover?

Just then, a memory of a photograph Clara Shaw had shown her flashed through Elena Ryan’s mind.

Could it be, the man in that photograph is the lover Serena Summers has outside?

Elena Ryan’s heart skipped a beat, and she instructed Sylvia Lane, "Let’s go upstairs and see."

Upstairs.

Brandon Reese supported Lucas Shaw into the master bedroom, placing him on the bed.

"Madam, what should we do next? Why is the master unconscious still? Why hasn’t he awakened?" Brandon Reese asked worriedly.

Serena Summers gave him a calming look, her voice hoarse, "Don’t worry, he’s just asleep. Brandon, take good care of him here, I’ll go to the kitchen and prepare some medicines."

"Madam," Brandon Reese called out to Serena Summers.

Serena Summers paused, turning her head in confusion, "What is it?"

"Madam, would you like to change your clothes first?" Brandon Reese suggested softly.

Although Lucas Shaw’s illness was critical, Serena Summers’ well-being was equally important.

Serena Summers’ face was pale as she slowly shook her head, "No need, Lucas’s illness is more urgent."

Serena doesn’t have much time left.

She must hurry to brew the medicine and feed it to Lucas Shaw.

Watching Serena’s thin silhouette, Brandon Reese helplessly shook his head, a trace of envy flashing in his eyes.

"Sir, to have married such a wonderful girl as your wife, it really is the blessing of your ancestors," Brandon silently exclaimed.

If only he could find a girl as excellent and kind to him as the lady in the future.

Thinking this, a flicker of anticipation crossed Brandon’s mind.

Serena took out all the tools used for making traditional Chinese medicine from her suitcase and laid them out one by one on the kitchen’s marble countertop.

Her face was somewhat pale and powerless, and if one observed carefully, they would see her hands slightly trembling.

However, aside from Serena herself, no one knew the pain she was enduring at the moment.

Elena Ryan approached the kitchen doorway, her gaze towards Serena filled with disgust and mockery, "Serena, who allowed you into the kitchen? And what are those things in your hands? They’re filthy, throw them out immediately."

"If I were you, I’d shut my mouth right now," Serena said with a cold laugh.

"Heh..." Elena Ryan sneered, "This is the Shaw Family house, I can say and do as I please, do I need your permission?"

Serena paused her movements, suddenly turning to look at Elena.

Her clear eyes narrowed slightly, emitting a dangerous and cold light.

Elena felt a bit uneasy under her stare, subconsciously swallowing her saliva nervously.

"Why are you looking at me like that? Did I say something wrong?"

Serena laughed softly, shaking her head, "You said nothing wrong. I was just thinking, you really don’t deserve to be Lucas’s mother."

Elena froze, "What do you mean by that?"

"Exactly what it sounds like. All of Lucas’s suffering has been caused by you, and to escape responsibility, you’ve pushed all the blame onto a child still in the cradle, even using this as an excuse to hate him for twenty-four years."

Serena’s tone was filled with sarcasm, pausing at each word.

Elena’s heart skipped a beat, her eyes flickering, "I don’t know what you are talking about! Serena, if you know what’s good for you, you’d better take those filthy things and get out now! The old man isn’t here, and there’s no one left to protect you!"

However, Serena had no intention of letting her off the hook.

She set down the herbs in her hand and slowly approached Elena.

Elena didn’t know what she intended to do, but instinctively took a step back.

"You... I warn you not to mess around!"

Serena scoffed coldly, pointing to the herbs on the marble countertop: "Those so-called dirty things in your mouth could save your son’s life. I’d advise you not to disturb me again, otherwise, if anything happens to Lucas, I will make sure you join him in his fate."

Serena could hardly imagine what kind of life Lucas Shaw had endured over the past twenty-four years.

She couldn’t even believe that a mother could speak so cruelly to her own son, and even harbor hatred and resentment.

"That disaster, Lucas, doesn’t even deserve to live in this world! And you, you flirtatious woman, hanging around the Shaw Family, you’ll only disgrace our family’s name," Elena Ryan snorted coldly, reaching out to pull Serena’s arm, trying to drag her out.

Serena forcefully shook off Elena’s hand, her eyes turning even colder.

"Get lost! Dare to delay me from treating Lucas again, and don’t blame me for being rude."

After saying that, she coldly swept Elena one last glance and went back to brewing the medicine in the kitchen.

Seeing her demeanor, Elena Ryan was so infuriated she couldn’t express it.

She clenched her teeth harshly, a trace of resentment flashing in her eyes.

However, just as she was about to barge into the kitchen, a cold reprimand suddenly came from behind her.

"Mom, have you caused enough trouble?"
