Forced to Marry the Sickly Billionaire -
Chapter 125 Repentance
Chapter 125: Chapter 125 Repentance
In Lucas Shaw’s eyes, there was nothing good about the Summers family except Serena Summers.
"Now you know to repent? What took you so long? If it weren’t for me, for the Shaw family, do you know what Serena would have gone through?" Lucas asked coldly.
Evan Summers’ figure stiffened harshly, his eyes filled with the color of pain.
He slowly covered his eyes, feeling a sourness well up.
Uncontrollably, his eyes reddened, and his chest felt as though it was violently torn apart.
Pain to the extreme.
He knew.
How could he not know?
If Serena hadn’t met Lucas Shaw, a girl from the countryside with no family to back her up, in a top-tier family like the Shaw Family, she wouldn’t have had the slightest chance to survive.
She would only have been at the mercy of others.
And if...
If Serena had encountered a beast or someone with strange fetishes, it would’ve been even worse.
Evan slowly closed his eyes, not daring to think further.
Every time he thought of these things, he would be filled with immense regret.
Serena was his biological sister.
His blood-related sister!
Yet he had given all his love to another girl.
Even for the sake of Grace Summers, he had caused endless trouble and insulted her.
The debt the Summers Family owed her could never be repaid in this lifetime.
However, he still wanted to see Serena with his own eyes.
He wanted to hear from her personally whether she was doing well in the Shaw family or not.
Lucas didn’t want to waste words with him anymore and was ready to drive away.
But Evan suddenly rushed forward, begging desperately, "Second Master, I really know I was wrong. I owe Serena an apology, I want to say it to her face."
"Don’t you understand? If she really wanted to see you, would you have been rejected at the door time and again?"
Lucas sneered coldly, his deep, dark eyes filled with ice.
Do not preach benevolence to others without understanding their suffering.
He had never personally experienced the hardships that Serena had endured, and thus had no right to make any decisions on her behalf.
Whether or not Serena was willing to forgive the Summers Family, he would support her.
But if the Summers Family was attempting to reconcile with Serena just to drain her of her benefits, he would never indulge them.
"Serena is doing very well in the Shaw family, you don’t have to worry. As for those so-called hurts you speak of, they only count when Serena cares."
But now, Serena no longer cares.
Because she knows, some people are destined to have no familial ties.
Like her and the Summers Family.
Evan stepped back violently, his eyes filled with disbelief.
He shook his head slowly, "No! It’s not like that!"
They were her family.
How could she not care?
Lucas tugged at his tie impatiently, his voice cold, "If you want to keep waiting here, then wait. But I warn you, if you dare to hurt Serena again, I will let you taste the agony of living a life worse than death."
Grace Summers’ reputation and career in the entertainment industry were completely ruined.
The whole industry now knew her true identity.
It turned out that the so-called high society lady Grace Summers was nothing more than a fake rich girl adopted from an orphanage by the Summers Family.
Now, the real heiress had returned.
And Grace Summers, instead of being grateful for everything the Summers Family had given her, had maliciously hurt and framed Serena again and again.
Was this really the pure, kind, and wonderful idol they had in their minds?
Many fans started to doubt.
They un-followed her en masse and started backlashing.
They even exposed many of her unknown scandals.
Plus, with the operations by Lucas Shaw and Edward Selwyn, Grace Summers would never be able to survive in the entertainment industry for the rest of her life.
As for the Summers Family... Lucas had plenty of ways to teach them a lesson.
"I won’t hurt her again! Never again!" Evan promised solemnly.
He had been wrong in the past.
He wanted to make it up to Serena, to personally say sorry to her.
But now, Serena was unwilling to give him another glance.
They were blood-related siblings, yet they became strangers as if they had never known each other.
Evan Summers felt as if his heart was about to split open.
The pain almost left him breathless.
"It’s for the best."
Lucas Shaw gave him a cold glance before driving away.
Evan stood there, watching Lucas’s car disappear, with deep sorrow in his eyes.
The fact that Serena Summers had met someone like Lucas Shaw, who wholeheartedly adored her, was a blessing from heaven.
Evan lifted his hand to cover his face, hiding the pain and guilt in his eyes.
Fortunately.
Fortunately, it was Lucas Shaw that Serena met, and not someone else.
Fortunately, she is now very happy.
Otherwise, Evan felt that even dying a thousand times wouldn’t atone for his guilt.
Evan didn’t know that at this moment, Serena was standing upstairs watching him.
There wasn’t the slightest ripple in her gaze.
The Summers Family, to her, had already become strangers.
Whatever had happened in the past, it was over now.
There would absolutely be no more entanglements in the future.
The Summers Family always thought they were doing her a charity by bringing her back home.
But without the Summers Family, she would only lead a better life.
"Madam, Mr. Summers has come by several times these past few days. Don’t you want to go out and see him?"
Sister Green asked worriedly, standing behind Serena.
"There’s no need. I have already taken back what the Summers Family owed me; there’s no need to meet again," Serena said, her voice cold.
In fact, she knew the purpose of Evan’s visit.
But some apologies come too late.
She didn’t need them anymore.
Evan stood outside the door for a long time, but Serena’s figure never appeared.
He couldn’t help feeling a bit disheartened.
Did Serena truly not wish to forgive him anymore?
He took a deep look into the villa one last time, reluctantly leaving.
In the yard, Sylvia Lane watched as Evan’s figure gradually disappeared, her expression inscrutable.
She asked with confusion, "Who is that young man outside? Why does he look vaguely familiar?"
The servant behind her replied softly, "He is a family member of Young Madam; that was Evan Summers from the Summers Family."
"Then why didn’t you invite him in to sit?"
Sylvia found it strange.
The young man had stood in front of the Shaw Mansion for a long while, his eyes constantly looking into the yard, seemingly waiting for something.
But he didn’t utter a word, nor did he barge in.
Serena had been in the mansion all this time but did not go out to meet Evan.
"The Young Madam has severed ties with the Summers Family and does not want to see them anymore," the servant explained.
Sylvia’s eyes flickered slightly.
Seeming to recall something, the corners of her lips slowly curled up.
"Isn’t there a fake heiress in the Summers Family?"
"Yes. That fake heiress is very vicious. It’s said that she always bullied Young Madam when she was with the Summers Family. But thankfully, Young Madam doesn’t have to suffer anymore," the servant said with a hint of emotion.
Sylvia nodded in understanding and did not speak further.
She withdrew her gaze and turned to leave the courtyard.
As she went upstairs, she happened to cross paths with Serena coming downstairs.
She wore a simple yet charming off-shoulder dress, her rounded and full shoulders, her smooth skin almost translucent.
With a pair of small white shoes, her whole being exuded youthful vitality.
Her hair, which had been draped over her shoulders, was now pulled back into a ponytail, with only two strands of hair casually hanging down on either side of her cheeks.
Her delicate, fair, and charming cheeks seemed as though water could be squeezed out, her exquisite eyes and brows looked like a painting, and her lips beamed with an enticing luster.
Every time, she radiated an indescribable beauty that made it impossible to look away.
Sylvia was startled.
It took her a moment to realize that she had been staring at Serena, mesmerized.
