Flood: I, the Nine Turns of the Golden Pillar, all want to eat me!

Chapter 7: Inside the Body Alchemy, the three clear personalities

“Buzz.” A scorching flame spread and burned from within Xuan Qing’s body. The flames emerged in a reddish-golden hue, resembling the previous Dan furnace’s fire and the essence of his being.

As the flames burned, they gradually purified the transformed mana. Along with Xuan Qing’s operation of the Dan Jing, the energy steadily condensed toward forming a pill. The vast medicinal properties within his body coalesced, and his True Spirit instinctively performed the alchemical process, guiding the formation of a pill from within.

Soon, with the medicinal properties refined into essence and the absorbed spiritual qi supplementing the process, a spinning elixir took shape. Though its quality remained low—only at the first revolution—this was merely the first step in alchemy. One must first refine a foundational rotating elixir before gradually enhancing its quality. The next step required circulating the Dan Scripture to integrate more spiritual qi and resources, elevating the elixir’s refinement. Ultimately, through continuous tempering, it would become a Nine-Turn Golden Pill, embedding the Great Dao to transform into the Great Dao Golden Pill.

Xuan Qing cultivated and refined in this manner, striving toward the ultimate Golden Dan.

In the blink of an eye, a thousand years had passed.

During this time, Xuan Qing did not always remain in seclusion. He often sought guidance from the Three Purities, refining his understanding of cultivation and the world. The Three Purities readily answered many of his questions and imparted vast knowledge of the Dao.

They taught more than just wisdom; they also taught profound techniques to Xuan Qing. Perhaps due to their stagnation at bottlenecks, they saw mentoring Xuan Qing as an opportunity to cultivate their insights.

Laozi taught him the art of pill refinement, Yuan Shi Tian Zun guided him in weapon forging, and Tongtian passed down his sword techniques and formation methods.

Through their teachings, Xuan Qing gradually imprinted the ‘Great Dao Treasure Pearl’ within his body with three Great Dao—the Great Dao of the Sword, the Great Dao of Weaponry, and the Great Dao of Formation. However, he did not delve deeply into these paths. His current cultivation level was not yet sufficient to grasp them fully, and he knew better than to overextend himself.

His primary focus remained alchemy, devoted to comprehending the Great Dao of Dan. Now, the Golden Dan within his body had already reached the eighth revolution.

At this stage, he had stepped into the Heavenly Immortal realm.

The three great realms of heaven and earth dictated his cultivation path. Once the Golden Dan reached the ninth revolution, he would attain the half-step Golden Immortal stage. However, even at that point, he would not yet be a true Golden Immortal. Achieving that realm required comprehending the Great Dao itself. Cultivating a Nine-Turn Golden Dan only granted Golden Immortal-level mana. True ascension required merging the Great Dao into the Golden Dan, allowing one to truly step into the Golden Immortal realm.

“Senior Uncle… are you going to practice the Way of the Sword again today?” Xuan Qing asked a hint of exasperation in his tone.

Over the years, he had come to understand the temperaments of the Three Purities.

Laozi carried the demeanor of an elder—kind, steady, and largely uninvolved, preferring to let things develop naturally.

Yuan Shi Tian Zun, however, was a strict teacher. Stern and authoritative, he demanded perfection in his teachings. If Xuan Qing made mistakes, he would not hesitate to discipline him.

Then there was Tongtian. Unlike his two elder brothers, he was youthful in appearance and carried a playful disposition. It was difficult to imagine that the future Tongtian Sect Leader had such an impish side. He often pulled Xuan Qing into unnecessary sword training, attempting to push him onto the path of sword cultivation. He also enjoyed teaching him formations, frequently trapping him in illusion arrays just to amuse himself at Xuan Qing’s expense.

It must be said—Tongtian was a serious troublemaker when it came to teasing juniors.

Now, seeing Tongtian approach him again, Xuan Qing felt a sense of foreboding.

“Little Xuan Qing, this time, your Senior Uncle is taking you out to play,” Tongtian said with a grin.

“Going out? Outside Kunlun?” Xuan Qing asked, his curiosity piqued. Since arriving in the Flood, he had never set foot beyond Kunlun’s Blessed Land. The idea of venturing beyond its boundaries intrigued him.

Tongtian stroked his beard, his expression one of satisfaction. “Naturally. This time, you will get to see much more.”

“Alright, take Xuan Qing along. We may encounter quite a few Dao friends,” Laozi said as he approached, his expression serene.

“I have not seen the others since the end of the Dao-Devil Controversy. I wonder if they have made any progress over the years,” Yuan Shi Tian Zun murmured, a hint of heaviness in his tone.

“Most likely the same as us,” Laozi replied, his expression unreadable.

Xuan Qing’s eyes filled with questions. “Master, what was the Dao-Devil Controversy?”

Laozi looked at him and gently stroked his beard. “The Dao-Devil Controversy was a great calamity in the Flood. During that time, the Dao and the Devil clashed, dragging all living beings into the war. The final battle shook the heavens and the earth, shattering the sun and moon. Countless beings perished. In the end, Luo Shuhu failed, and the Devil Dao was defeated.”

Xuan Qing frowned. Was the battle truly that simple?

He looked between Laozi, Yuan Shi Tian Zun, and Tongtian, sensing that there was more to the story.

Tongtian seemed ready to explain further, but Yuan Shi Tian Zun shook his head. “Tongtian, Xuan Qing is too young. It is not appropriate for him to know too much yet. Let him learn when he is older.”

“That is true. Even recalling that battle now brings a heavy heart. Let us wait until Xuan Qing has matured,” Tongtian agreed, his voice uncharacteristically solemn.

Xuan Qing’s curiosity only grew. From the fragmented memories of his past life on Earth, he had some understanding of such conflicts. However, without firsthand knowledge, he could only speculate.

The Three Purities did not continue the discussion, clearly unwilling to reveal more.

Though intrigued, Xuan Qing chose not to press further. These matters were far removed from him for now.

Instead, Laozi turned to him with a thoughtful expression. “Disciple, you have already cultivated your Golden Dan to the eighth revolution and are on the verge of the ninth. It is time to consider which Great Dao you will follow. The earlier you decide, the more you can refine your cultivation in the right direction.”

“Indeed. With Xuan Qing’s talent, he must carefully choose his path. Many cultivators stagnate because they select the wrong Dao, leaving them trapped at an impasse. One must be cautious when choosing a Great Dao,” Tongtian added with rare seriousness.

“A Great Dao… I have not decided yet,” Xuan Qing admitted.

In truth, with the assistance of the Great Dao Treasure Pearl, he had long possessed the foundation to reach the Golden Immortal realm. However, he had deliberately delayed breaking through, lingering in the Heavenly Immortal stage. The reason was simple—he had not yet chosen the path he wished to walk.
