After listening to Nia Mitchell’s horrifying tale of the last 24 hours, Mellisa Moreland stood in the dormitory, giving a weak and stiff smile.

"Nia Mitchell, Miss Mitchell, congratulations, you’ve finally goddamn gone insane."

She turned around, closing her eyes speechlessly. In Nia Mitchell’s world, anything incredible could happen.

Even marrying a stranger!

What guts!

"Miss Mitchell, did that scumbag Hendry Hampton stimulate your only normal nerve, causing you to trigger suicide mode, and then you married a stranger nine years older than you in a flash?"

Nia Mitchell stood there awkwardly, not knowing how to argue.

"Miss Mitchell, let me book an appointment for you to see a psychiatrist. I genuinely hope you get diagnosed with neurosis."

Mellisa Moreland clenched her fists and widened her eyes, ready to pounce on Nia Mitchell any minute.

"That way, at least, you can get a report and annul this ghostly marriage you’ve contracted."

Mellisa Moreland yelled, stomping her feet miserably, frustrated that her efforts had been in vain.

"I don’t think my marriage is bad."

Nia Mitchell raised her head to meet Mellisa Moreland’s gaze. "I don’t regret it either. He’s different from Hendry."

Mellisa Moreland shrugged. "Swallow your broken teeth with your own blood, it’s okay. Be stubborn while you still have teeth to swallow."

"By the way, I’ll have my dad find a job for you."

Nia Mitchell laughed and shook her head. "What kind of job can your dad find for me? Collecting protection fees?"

Mellisa’s father was a famous gangster boss in Capital Town, a fact she had accidentally discovered in her junior year.

So sometimes when they teased each other, she would call Mellisa "Boss."

After parking the car, Maxwell Peary walked home, looking at the takeout food box in his hand, his face filled with disbelief.

Suddenly, he stopped. What was he doing?

The hand that usually held a gun or pen was now carrying a takeout box.

This is surreal...

It wasn’t just others who would look at him as if they’d seen a ghost; he himself felt like he’d seen one.

"Boss, Boss, are you really letting me return to Capital Town?"

Alan Morgan’s incessant prattling came through the Bluetooth earpiece, and Maxwell Peary responded vaguely with a hum.

"But Boss, didn’t you tell me to settle Mr. Rafael’s matter within ten days? And threaten to send me to Sicily if I didn’t accomplish it?"

Alan Morgan looked excited, and his interest in the food on his plate was suddenly renewed.

The Boss must be taking pity on me, knowing I can’t get used to the food here.

Immersed in his own little world, Alan Morgan was so overjoyed he felt like jumping.

Business trips were awful; Capital Town was the best.

"Right, right! Boss, I’ll handle your affairs when I get back to Capital Town, but what about you? What will you do?"

Alan Morgan put down his chopsticks in confusion, finally realizing something was amiss.

When has the Boss ever changed his decision?

"Me?"

Maxwell Peary stopped walking. Bunny is upset; I have to accompany her and cheer her up...

If I said that, would those two on their honeymoon explode with anger?

Hmm...

"Naturally, I have more important things to do."

He didn’t even notice the smile tugging at the corners of his lips, a smile different from his usual ones.

Still smiling, he opened the door, only to find his sneakers missing from the shoe rack, with a pair of fluffy pink slippers neatly placed there instead.

Bunny!!!

"Boss, do you know what your most important task is? I believe your grandfather reminds you often enough..."

"Boss, it’s already May, half the year is gone, then it’ll be New Year, and then you’ll be thirty..."

"Alan Morgan!"

Maxwell Peary cut off the grating voice from the other end. His tone reverted to its previous coldness, eerie and menacing.

"You should get married!"
