First Legendary Dragon: Starting With The Limitless System
Chapter 158: Want to Walk Both Paths

Her logic was sound, Orion realized. With renewed resolve, he shifted his approach, focusing purely on minimizing the spellcasting time. Taking a calming breath, he visualized the spell clearly, urging his mana to respond even faster.

"[Fireball]."

This time, the sphere formed noticeably quicker, materializing almost instantly before his palm. Orion felt a small thrill of accomplishment, releasing it swiftly toward the target dummy, satisfied with the seamless fluidity of his movements.

Again and again, Orion repeated the process, each casting becoming incrementally faster, smoother, and more natural.

After the eighth casting, he paused, 'How many times can a normal mage cast the Fireball spell at Tier 1?'

[Hmm, from what we learned in the classes, a typical mage can cast anywhere from 3–5 spells of their own level, while geniuses can cast 8–10 times.]

'Heh, should I test my limits today?' he said with an excited smile on his face.

He took a deep breath and prepared himself to reach his limits. His mana channels hummed with surging mana, responding swiftly and precisely to his intent.

He cast the spell again, and within 1.5 seconds, the spell finished materializing in front of him as he shot it out.

The average time of spellcasting for a mage averaged around 2–3 seconds, while geniuses tend to do it much faster—but that was for the spells they engrave in their SoC.

The other type was when they draw the magic circle outside using mana—that usually took much longer for others, typically ranging from 10 to 15 seconds.

After nearly an hour of relentless practice, Orion paused, breathing heavily, "Haa… haaa… fuck this… I've used the damn spell nearly a hundred times and I don't see my SoC exhausting anytime soon."

[Hehe, but at least now you can cast the spell within a second. That's already a great improvement.]

He exhaled a long breath and stood up straight, staring at the wooden dummy which had been scorched black from the relentless [Fireball] spell.

'This is enough for today,' Orion thought, looking at the darkened sky as he reflected on the day's numerous accomplishments.

Sparring with Sylvia, recruiting club members, improving swordsmanship with Edgar, and perfecting rapid spellcasting—it had truly been a fruitful day.

[You're amazing, Master! Every day, you're becoming even more awesome! (≧◡≦)]

He chuckled softly at Lumi's enthusiasm. 'Haha, your cheering certainly makes training easier.'

Satisfied, Orion turned and calmly headed back toward the mansion, leaving the scorched training dummy behind. His body now yearned for relaxation, his muscles tired from the intensive sword practice and spell training.

As he stepped inside, the mansion's warm interior welcomed him instantly, illuminated by softly glowing crystal lamps along the elegant hallway. Approaching his room, Orion found Rina and Fiora patiently waiting, both maids greeting him warmly.

"Welcome back, Master!" Rina's cheerful voice chimed gently, eyes brightening happily. "We prepared your bath, as usual."

Fiora shyly nodded beside her, holding out a soft, neatly folded towel. "I-It's a special h-herbal bath, M-Master. It'll help s-soothe your muscles from today's i-intense training."

Orion smiled warmly, taking the towel appreciatively. "Thank you, both of you. Your timing is impeccable, as always."

Saying that, he went inside for a bath as they gently washed away the sweat and dirt of the day while gently massaging his body.

He rested quietly for a few moments, savoring the relaxation fully. After thoroughly enjoying himself, Orion stepped out as Rina and Fiora quickly dried him off and dressed him comfortably.

Feeling refreshed and reinvigorated, he nodded smilingly toward Rina and Fiora. "Thank you again. I feel much better now."

Rina bowed softly, beaming happily. "You're very welcome, Master!"

Fiora quietly added with a gentle smile, "P-Please have a nice dinner, M-Master. Lady Selene and Lord E-Eldric are already waiting for you."

Orion chuckled lightly, heading down the ornate hallway toward the dining room. His stomach growled softly in agreement, reminding him clearly of his hunger.

Upon entering the dining hall, he found Eldric and Selene already seated comfortably, quietly discussing something while awaiting his arrival. Both immediately turned toward him, their expressions warmly welcoming.

"Ah, dear, you're finally here," Selene greeted gently, her voice soft and inviting. "You trained quite late today. You must be hungry."

Eldric chuckled warmly, lifting his glass with an amused twinkle in his eyes. "Indeed! And you must tell us about your eventful day. We already heard some stuff from here and there but we want to hear it directly from you."

Orion seated himself calmly, smiling lightly as he took in the delicious spread of dishes arranged before him—freshly baked bread, tender roasted meats, vibrant vegetables, and an array of other tantalizing offerings.

"It was certainly eventful, Grandpa," Orion agreed smoothly, selecting a serving of roasted meat and vegetables onto his plate. "I sparred with Sylvia from House Stormbolt today and managed to recruit her into the club."

Eldric raised an eyebrow, visibly intrigued. "Oh? The Stormbolt lass herself joined your club? You're certainly gathering quite the talented crowd."

Selene's eyes sparkled with delight, clearly proud. "He's my grandson, after all. Him being exceptional is nothing surprising. Talented individuals will always flock together."

Orion chuckled warmly, feeling deeply grateful for their unwavering support and affection. "It's been exciting, to say the least. But there's still much work ahead."

Eldric smiled approvingly, raising his glass slightly. "And we have full faith in your abilities, Orion. Now, eat well. You'll need strength for whatever you will do ahead."

Orion paused and turned toward Selene, "Oh, and Grandma, there's something else I need your advice on. I've decided—I want to walk both the Mage and Warrior paths simultaneously."

Selene instantly stilled, her delicate hands halting halfway through serving a portion of the roasted vegetables. Her gentle expression clouded over with a mix of surprise, concern, and a faintly concealed worry.

Beside her, Eldric's brows knitted together slightly, his usual jovial demeanor fading into a more serious countenance.

The room became silent, thick with unspoken apprehension as Selene placed the serving spoon down carefully, her deep eyes locking onto Orion's calm gaze.

After a moment, she spoke softly, yet firmly. "Orion, are you truly certain about this decision? Pursuing both paths is extraordinarily difficult—bordering on the impossible. You're aware, aren't you, that countless geniuses have fallen trying to combine these two disciplines?"

Orion calmly met her eyes. "I know, Grandma. But there have been successful people who walked both paths as well. And I also understand clearly what it means to take this road. I've thought this through deeply, considering every angle."

Eldric leaned forward slightly, his voice resonating with a quiet intensity. "Young lad, it's admirable that you want to challenge yourself, but even among the peak geniuses, only a scant few have ever survived long enough to truly flourish while walking both the Mage and Warrior paths."

Selene continued gently, her voice filled with motherly worry. "The issue isn't merely talent or even mana reserves—it's that each path requires intense specialization. Warriors refine their physique, tempering their bodies to unimaginable degrees, while mages develop their Sea of Consciousness and spells, steadily broadening their mana control and spellcraft. Each path demands different training methods, entirely different cultivation techniques, and above all, extreme dedication."
