Chapter 2137 - The Blue Emperor, Supreme Among the Undying
In the blink of an eye, nine Greater Gods perished, their blood splattering the sky!
Everyone stood there in a daze.
Greater Gods! Even by the standards of the God Domain, these were high-level authority figures second only to Master Gods.
And among the rulers of the Kingdom of Lasting Light, the Nine Great Heavenly Gods, only one, Buddhist Venerate Ghama, was a Greater God.
It was thus obvious how terrifying Greater Gods were.
But now, Su Yi had destroyed nine of them with a swing of his sleeves. Who wouldn’t have been astonished?
“It’s only been a year. How did Su Yi become this terrifying?”
Many of the onlookers realized that Su Yi must have undergone some unbelievable transformation during the past year.
Otherwise, he could never have killed Greater Gods as effortlessly as if he were slaughtering chickens!
Those higher-ups yet to attack couldn’t help but break out in cold sweats. Inwardly, they celebrated that they’d chosen to wait until they understood the situation better as opposed to attacking immediately.
If they had... They’d likely be dead already!
When Feng Wuji, Lian Sheng, and the other divine children saw this, their minds went blank, too.
All of them were familiar with Su Yi’s terrifying, heaven-defying abilities, and they’d watched him execute a group of Greater Gods in the Deification Star Sea.
Back then, Su Yi borrowed the power of the Laws to kill his enemies. He’d killed Greater Gods, but it had nothing to do with his own strength.
This time, however, Su Yi had no need of external power to kill Greater Gods. He could slaughter them with ease!
This was far too terrifying, and none of the divine children had anticipated it.
“Does anyone else plan to stand in my way?” Su Yi swept his gaze across the area, then waved his sleeves and gathered the Godheads and trophies strewn across the ground.
Deathly silence descended over the area. No one dared to respond.
It was to the point that no one dared to meet Su Yi’s gaze!
“Boring.” Su Yi shook his head, then turned and left.
It was only after he faded from view that the deathly silence broke, and the crowd burst into uproar.
“What on earth happened to Su Yi? How... How could he be this powerful?” someone asked frantically.
Even the higher-ups couldn’t stay calm. They started pressing the divine children for further information, unwilling to let even the smallest detail slip.
After learning all of Su Yi’s glorious accomplishments in the Path of the Ancient Gods, waves of emotion crashed through their hearts.
“It’s over! If we want to take him down now, Master Gods will have to take action personally!” someone said bitterly.
Time changed all things. Su Yi was no longer as he'd been before!
Even before becoming a god, Su Yi had been heaven-defying enough to slay Lesser and Mid-Rank Gods.
Now, he’d returned from the Path of the Ancient Gods having already overcome an unparalleled Divine Tribulation and become a god. Even Greater Gods were no longer worthy of his attention!
All of them realized that they had to re-evaluate how dangerous Su Yi was.
“I can’t even imagine it. How much upheaval will follow his return to the God Domain?” someone asked with a heavy heart.
“He’s only just become a god, but he can kill Greater Gods with ease. Given time to rise through the ranks, who in the God Domain could possibly be a match for him?” someone said with a deep sigh.
“All of that is beyond our control, but I can already foresee that when word reaches the God Domain, not even Master Gods will remain unmoved!” someone said with confidence. “Otherwise, once Su Yi fully establishes himself in the Divine Dao, he’s sure to become a second Li Fuyou!”
“Li Fuyou? No! If he lives, he’s sure to be far more terrifying than Li Fuyou ever was!”
As the divine children listened to the higher-ups’ conversations, they exchanged glances. All of them were inwardly despondent.
They’d long since given up all thoughts of competing with Su Yi.
But now, as they watched the Greater Gods discuss Su Yi, the dread, worry, and caution on their faces filled the divine children with a sense of helplessness.
They’d just become gods, just as Su Yi had, but Su Yi could already crush Greater Gods! Who could compete with that?
“Come on, it’s time we returned to the God Domain and told the sect what happened in the Path of the Ancient Gods.”
“Let’s go.”
......Before long, numerous higher-ups got to work, leading their divine children away. The rest of the crowd soon dispersed, too.
That very day, word of what had happened in the Path of the Ancient Gods spread. The Kingdom of Lasting Light shook, and when word reached the rest of the River of Epochs, it triggered a massive wave of uproar.
And of course, Su Yi was the center of attention.
......
The River Lord sat in a restaurant, laughed, and looked away. “See that? A year ago, he would have needed my help to resolve that, but now, he can slaughter Greater Gods like chickens!”
With that, he raised and drained his cup.
Luo Xuanji inclined her head. “Fellow Daoist Su’s aptitude and foundations are the most heaven-defying in history. Only Master Gods can threaten him now.”
A thin-faced, pale man in gray sat beside Luo Xuanji. His long hair was disheveled.
This was Luo Qingdi, the “Blue Emperor!”
He was Luo Xuanji’s biological older brother.
When he heard Luo Xuanji’s unconcealed praise for Su Yi, he said expressionlessly, “He’s far, far inferior to that swordsman.”
Luo Xuanji’s expression shifted as if afraid that this would provoke the River Lord, but against her expectations, the River Lord just smiled. “He can’t compare with that swordsman now, but that doesn’t mean he won’t be able to later.”
Luo Qingdi instantly fell silent. He couldn’t refute that; he’d never seen a new Lesser God capable of slaughtering Greater Gods with ease, either.
“You two no longer need to fear the fetters of the Laws of the present day, and you can go wherever you please,” said the River Lord, drumming the tabletop with his fingers. “Next, I’ll give you a choice.”
Both siblings were instantly solemn and attentive.
“You can leave now, and we’ll all go our separate ways,” said the River Lord. “Or you can escort Su Yi safely to the God Domain. Once he arrives, you’ll have completed your mission, and I’ll give you each a chance to draw closer to the River of Destiny. Decide for yourselves.”
With that, the River Lord raised the jug of wine and poured himself a cup.
Luo Xuanji and Luo Qingdi exchanged glances.
But before Luo Qingdi could say anything, Luo Xuanji didn’t miss a beat. “It was Fellow Daoist Su who let my brother and me reunite after countless years apart. Never mind seeing him safely to the God Domain; I wouldn’t refuse even if you wanted me to risk my life for him!”
Luo Qingdi looked stunned, but his gaze was tender. He gently patted his little sister’s shoulder. “Your choice is my choice.
The River Lord snorted coldly. “Enough. It’s not like this is some sort of cruel or arduous task. If anything, you ought to celebrate the choice you made today. After all... few among even Master Gods ever get the chance to approach the River of Destiny!”
Luo Xuanji said softly, “Senior, I’m not after all that. I just want to repay Fellow Daoist Su properly.”
The River Lord’s eyebrows rose. After a moment’s silence, he said, “I hope that’s true.”
With that, he rose. “You two wait here. I’m going to find Su Yi for a private chat.”
Before his voice had finished echoing through the air, he vanished into thin air.
“Big Brother, you won’t blame me for my choice, will you?” Luo Xuanji said tenderly.
She knew that it was the power of reincarnation that had kept her brother trapped in the Path of the Ancient Gods all this time, and that it had been bitter torment.
And Su Yi’s first incarnation, who controlled the power of reincarnation, had been behind it all!
Thus, Luo Xuanji was worried that her brother would hate Su Yi.
Luo Qingdi shook his head. “It’s fine. Even those far stronger than I didn’t escape. That swordsman consigned them to the darkness, too.
"It might be unpleasant to hear, but compared to that swordsman, someone like me is no different from an ant.” A self-deprecating look appeared on his face. “I thought it through a long time ago. So long as I got to see you again, it’d be fine even if I were wiped from existence afterward.”
The rims of Luo Xuanji’s eyes reddened and welled with tears.
At that moment, she didn’t seem like the former ruler of the City of the Lost, nor like an unparalleled demoness who killed without batting an eye.
It was as if she’d lowered all her defenses and returned to her youth, when she and her brother depended on each other for survival.
Although no one knew it, she’d been able to escape their long-lost epoch civilization and cross turbulent spacetime thanks to her older brother. He’d sacrificed himself for her!
Luo Qingdi could have escaped, but he’d given her the chance instead!
“What are you crying about?” Luo Qingdi raised his hand and wiped away her tears. “We’ve been reunited. You ought to be happy.”
Luo Xuanji nodded, then said softly, “Big Brother, it was Fellow Daoist Su who helped us reunite, so no matter whether you agree or not, I have to repay him properly.”
Luo Qingdi had a complicated look on his face, but after a while, he nodded. “Very well.”
In the Ancient God Domain, there was a legendary expert who dazzled all bygone epochs. They called him the Blue Emperor, and they said he was supreme amongst the Undying!
This was Luo Qingdi!
......
The banks of a stream.
Su Yi frowned. “Were you watching the whole battle earlier?”
He’d just been wondering where he’d find the River Lord when the dirty old man appeared out of nowhere.
“Actually, no. I knew that those nobodies wouldn’t be able to stop you.” The River Lord laughed and explained. “Of course, had you really run into danger, I wouldn’t have remained a bystander.”
Su Yi couldn’t be bothered to argue with him, so he got straight to the point. “Are my old friends in the Kingdom of Lasting Light?”
He was referring to Ye Chunqiu, Xiao Ruyi, and Xu Fushi. When he left for the Kingdom of Lasting Light, they stayed in the City of the Lost to continue their cultivation.
Back in the Ancient God Domain, Su Yi asked the River Lord to bring them to the Kingdom of Lasting Light so he could see them again.
“They are,” said the River Lord. “Once we’ve talked, I’ll bring you to them.”
Su Yi nodded, took out a wicker chair, then sat down comfortably. Next, he took out a jug of wine. “We really do have a lot to talk about.”
With that, he flipped his palm, and a rusted sword sheath floated into the air. “First, tell me what’s so special about this sheath.”
