First Immortal of the Sword -
Chapter 2133 - Numb From Winning Too Much
Chapter 2133 - Numb From Winning Too Much
Clang!
The divine eighth tower rumbled and boomed, scattering a rain of light. The familiar ringing of nine bells followed.
When the crowd gathered outside heard it, they realized that Su Yi had broken yet another record.
By now, Su Yi was numb to it.
The crowd had grown numb to it, too.
Starting from the first tower, every time Su Yi underwent a tower’s trials, he was sure to set a new record. It was like a legend unfolding before their eyes. After a while, the crowd gradually started to accept it.
By now, they would have found it far stranger if Su Yi hadn’t broken the record!
The top of the eighth tower scattered a rain of light.
A slender arc of divine radiance fell, then floated in front of Su Yi. Upon closer inspection, the arc of divine radiance was actually composed of over a hundred walnut-sized crystals.
The crystals were brilliant and translucent. Every last one of them contained shocking undying power.
Undying Divine Crystals!
These were crystals formed out of the purest of Undying Materials. They were incomparably rare and precious. They could be used both to refine divine treasures and for cultivation.
Cultivating within the Divine Dao didn’t just require absorbing and refining the aura of the Grand Dao from heaven and earth. More importantly, it required refining Undying Materials!
Undying Materials were divided into numerous types and levels. The Undying Demon Gold and Undying Bright Gold he’d gathered earlier were among them.
Their quality varied significantly, too.
Undying Divine Crystals were among the rarest and most precious of Undying Materials. They could only be happened upon by chance, not sought.
Even in the God Domain, only the greatest of orthodoxies had access to this precious resource!
In fact, even just one walnut-sized piece of Undying Divine Crystals was worth cities. It would drive any expert beneath the Master God level mad with greed.
Undying Materials were so precious because it was only by refining a sufficient quantity of them that a deity had a chance at becoming a Master God. Without enough Undying Materials, you could forget about reaching the Undying Realm.
The vast majority of gods, due to the limitations of their talent and the low levels of their Godheads, knew better than to even dream of proving their Daos and becoming Master Gods. It was just too difficult. Instead, these gods refined Undying Materials for a different purpose: staving off divine tribulations!
Cultivating the Divine Dao required facing numerous “divine tribulations,” all of them potentially lethal. Creation, Limit, and Fortune Realm Gods had to face the Three Calamities and Six Disasters.
Even Undying Realm Master Gods had to overcome the Nine Dao-Refining Tribulations!
No matter their nature, overcoming divine tribulations required refining sufficient quantities of Undying Materials. Only then could you have confidence in your survival!
It was thus obvious how precious Undying Materials were to the gods.
To Su Yi, on the other hand, they were ultimately just resources for tempering his cultivation base.
In the sixth tower, when he overcame his tribulation and achieved divinity, he received a piece of Undying Divine Marrow as a reward. That too was a type of Undying Material; if a Limit Realm Mid-Rank God refined it, it would prove enormously useful in overcoming the Three Calamities and Six Disasters.
But after Su Yi refined it, the Undying Divine Marrow transformed into “just” an incomparably enormous amount of vital energy of the Grand Dao, which fused into Su Yi’s newly established foundations in the Divine Dao.
Su Yi waved his sleeves, and the hundred-plus pieces of Undying Divine Crystal flew into his sleeves.
Then, he took out just one piece, sat down, and started to refine it.
Boom!
Before long, the Undying Divine Crystal transformed into scalding floodwaters and surged into Su Yi’s body. His Sea of Chaos rumbled and boomed, and the Epoch Spark scattered mysterious light. His vital energy undulated in a mysterious rhythm.
As Su Yi refined the Undying Divine Crystal, it tempered and advanced his cultivation.
Within moments, he’d refined the whole piece of this incomparably precious Undying Material, but... he’d only progressed a tiny bit.
And he was still far from the mid-stage Creation Realm. Su Yi estimated that even if he refined every last piece of Undying Divine Crystals, it wouldn’t be enough to get him there.
Su Yi couldn’t help but find this frustrating. A heaven-defying cultivation base and firm foundations were great, but they had obvious downsides, too: he needed far, far more resources to advance than others of the same level.
Never mind Lesser and Mid-rank Gods. Had even a Greater God acquired all these Undying Divine Crystals, they’d undoubtedly have been able to break through!
Looked at that way, it was obvious how perverse Su Yi’s path of divinity was.
But Su Yi had long since grown accustomed to this sort of thing.
Without any further delays, he got up and left the eighth divine tower.
......
The ninth divine tower.
This was the last of the Celestial Trials, a test prepared for peak Greater Gods.
Throughout the ages, more than half of the Greater Gods who overcame this trial managed to break into the Undying Realm and become true Master Gods!
This was also the trial Su Yi was most looking forward to.
He’d already confirmed that with his current strength, ordinary Greater Gods couldn’t withstand even a single attack. Only the strongest among them were worthy of fighting him.
Just like before, the tests and trials of the ninth divine tower could do nothing to hold Su Yi back.
Before long, he overcame all of its challenges and reached the top!
In accordance with the ninth divine tower’s rules, Su Yi faced three opponents.
The first was a handsome but aloof youth in clothes whiter than snow. His name was Shi Ye, and he was one of the strongest Greater Gods in history!
When Su Yi saw him, he was stunned, because... he recognized him.
This was the Dark Skeletal God King. He was one of the experts who’d appeared before Su Yi when he first entered the Path of the Ancient Gods, just like the Glazed Illusion Hell Queen and the Dragon-Headed Daoist!
Shi Ye and his skeletal throne had left a deep impression on Su Yi, but he would never have imagined that they’d meet here, atop the ninth divine tower.
Of course, this wasn’t the actual Dark Skeletal God Emperor. It was merely an avatar manifested of the power of the Laws.
For Shi Ye to appear here now meant that he was the strongest body refiner among Greater Gods in history!
“Let’s see just how strong that physical body of yours is,” said Su Yi. He’d decided to duke it out relying purely on the power of his physical body.
Boom!
Shi Ye, the Dark Skeletal God Emperor, looked scrawny, but when he attacked, his blood and qi rumbled and boomed. Shockingly, they manifested an enormous city of lightning, which brought with it an all-encompassing destructive power.
He’d obviously tempered his fleshly body to unbelievable heights.
Su Yi’s eyes lit up. He leaped ahead and attacked.
Boom!
He waved his fist through the air, and his blood and qi manifested countless streaks of rumbling sword qi throughout the nine heavens.
In his earlier challenges, Su Yi refined nine types of divine source blood belonging to nine different divine beasts: the Qiongqi, Suanni, Dijiang, Zhuyan, Qingsi, Torch Dragon, Kun Peng, Taowu, and Taotie!
All of these powers of the flesh were born of chaos, and they’d fused into his body.
After becoming a god, the latent potential of these nine types of divine blood source had fused fully into his flesh.
Now, as he attacked with the power of his flesh, his blood and vital energy transformed into sword qi, all the while manifesting visions of Qiongqi, Suanni, Dijiang, and other divine beasts!
Bang!!!
A heaven-shaking impact rang out, and the Dark Skeletal God Emperor, Shi Ye, was forced backward. Su Yi, meanwhile, merely swayed on his feet.
“Again!” Su Yi let out a burst of laughter, then charged.
The battle ended moments later. It wasn’t overly dangerous, but it was incomparably fierce.
Both used their strongest powers and divine abilities of the flesh to fight an unparalleled duel.
In the end, the Dark Skeletal God Emperor lost. When Su Yi unleashed the full extent of his physical power, he suppressed his opponent in a single attempt!
He took injuries in the process, but they weren’t severe, and they wouldn’t affect his movements.
It’s official. My physical body is now stronger than any Greater God in any epoch civilization of the past! Su Yi thought to himself.
Before long, his second opponent appeared. She was a woman, a slender, sultry beauty bathed in a dreamlike mist.
She had the strongest soul of any Fortune Realm Greater God of any past epoch!
When he saw her, Su Yi was unwittingly stunned, as he was familiar with her, too. This was the Glazed Illusion Hell Queen!
Of course, this Glazed Illusion Hell Queen was merely a manifestation of the Laws, just like the Dark Skeletal God Emperor had been.
Su Yi instantly reached a decision. In this battle, I’ll just use my soul to test her limits. Let’s see whose soul is stronger!
He’d received good fortune relating to the soul in earlier trials too. It was called “soul source power,” and it contained nine energies, each representing a different supreme soul origin power born of chaos.
When Su Yi proved his Dao and became a god, these nine powers and the latent potential they represented fused into his soul, becoming a portion of his Divine Dao Avatar.
Boom!
Off in the distance, the Glazed Illusion Hell Queen raised her fair hand into the air. Heaven and earth transformed, and an endless purgatory appeared out of nowhere.
She was like its queen, and her entire body was wrapped in a strange, imposing power of the natural order.
This was a secret soul art!
When Su Yi saw this, he no longer hesitated. He exerted his will, and...
Boom!
His Divine Dao Avatar entered the world.
At that moment, it was like the first parting of heaven and earth. Terrifying sword force swept outward, shaking and churning the chaos clouds.
His Divine Dao Avatar expanded until it was fully one hundred thousand feet tall, its eyes shining like the sun and moon.
Most terrifying of all, a waterfall of sword qi poured down around him, like floodwaters bursting through a dam.
“Die!” Su Yi’s Divine Dao Avatar attacked first, raising and swinging his hand. Endless sword qi whooshed forth.
The Glazed Illusion Hell Queen attacked almost simultaneously, drawing upon a corner of that endless purgatory. As it descended, it blanketed heaven and earth.
This clash of the soul lasted a full fifteen minutes. The Glazed Illusion Hell Queen drew upon every power at her disposal.
Su Yi, however, cut through everything in his way with his sword. No matter what divine abilities or secret arts she used, he cut right through them.
In the end, the Glazed Illusion Hell Queen was defeated!
“My fleshly body is invincible among Greater Gods of all past epochs. Now, my soul is too!” Su Yi let out a deep breath. “Now, I just have to defeat my third opponent, and I’ll have completely smashed the ninth tower’s record!”
His third opponent would be the last enemy he’d have to face in the ninth divine tower.
But when his last opponent appeared, Su Yi was unwittingly stunned once more.
