Chapter 434: Chapter 434: The Powerful Support Behind a Woman
Lu Jing arrived at the department, and the nurses at the station were the first to see her:
"Doctor Lu, are you feeling better?"
Huh?
Lu Jing paused for a moment before realizing.
The hospital probably didn’t have many people aware of her kidnapping a few days ago; officially, she was on sick leave.
"I’m all good now," she responded with a smile.
The nurses were busy flying around early in the morning, and hearing that Lu Jing was alright, everyone went back to their own tasks.
Back in the office, Kuang Yu was changing his clothes. He looked up and his expression momentarily tightened:
"Junior sister, good morning!" he greeted.
Lu Jing nodded:
"Senior, good morning."
Kuang Yu wanted to say something, but seeing there were other people in the office, the words he intended to say were swallowed back down.
He held it in for a good two hours.
Once the office cleared out, Kuang Yu came over from his workstation and quietly asked:
"Did you get good rest?"
Lu Jing nodded in response:
"Yeah, don’t worry about me, senior. Did you get hurt?"
Kuang Yu had also been caught during the incident; he couldn’t be completely unharmed.
"Just some superficial wounds, they’ve all scabbed over. Are you sure you’re okay?"
Never mind the physical injuries, how about the psychological ones? PTSD isn’t a joke, you know?
So, this was what Kuang Yu had been worried about these past few days, and he had even discussed it privately with the director, but without seeing her, they both weren’t clear on her condition and couldn’t make a definitive judgment.
Lu Jing had thought she’d be affected in many ways, but as the days passed, it seemed she really wasn’t.
During the day she wouldn’t think too much, and at night she wouldn’t have nightmares or anything like that. Everything was as usual.
Perhaps, it was also because a certain someone had been by her side all the time, giving her an endless sense of security.
After all, as a woman with a strong and powerful mountain to lean on, what was there to fear?
"Senior, I really am fine."
Kuang Yu also breathed a sigh of relief:
"That’s good!"
As they were talking, the director appeared at the door:
"Xiao Lu, come with me."
"Okay, Teacher."
....
In the director’s office, Lu Jing repeated what she had just told Kuang Yu.
The teacher in the white coat finally relaxed:
"I was worried about you, girl!"
"Hehe, Teacher, I’m really fine; no need to worry about me."
"Why did you come in today? Didn’t I tell you to rest a few more days at home?"
Although at the time, they said she should take three days off, Lu Jing was the student of this particular teacher, and of course, teachers are protective and doting of their students.
So, the teacher gave another call later, suggesting she take a few more days off.
Of course, it wasn’t Lu Jing who had answered the call, but Captain Jiang.
Apparently, Captain Jiang forgot about it and hadn’t passed on the message.
Lu Jing was surprised for a moment but quickly realized:
"Since I’m fine, there’s no need for extra leave. Besides, the department is busy as it is. If I come in, it’ll lighten the load for everyone."
The director laughed:
"You girl, don’t worry. Even without you, we can operate as usual. If really necessary, we’ll just ask for support from above!"
That was easier said than done.
After all, no hospitals had idle staff on hand.
"Teacher, if there’s nothing else, may I leave?"
"Go on, go on, get back to work."
...
Leaving the director’s office, Lu Jing closed the door behind her.
Just then, the phone in her lab coat pocket rang:
"Hello?"
"Honey, I’ve already arrived in XX city, and it’ll probably take four or five days to get back."
Hmm?
