He called out while knocking on the door.

The person inside didn’t really intend to keep it closed forever; after the man knocked a few times, she opened the door.

She couldn’t really stop this guy outside anyway, so why not just open the door? Otherwise, she might end up having to call a locksmith.

The door was only opened a crack:

"What do you want?" Her tone was far from courteous.

"Really not angry?"

Jiang Ye had work to catch up on, so he went off to the study.

Meanwhile, Lu Jing didn’t idle in the bedroom; she busied herself sorting out clothes not suitable for summer or autumn.

Before she knew it, it was nearly noon.

Jiang Ye came knocking on the door:

"Madam, how about we go out for lunch today?"

Lu Jing tilted her head:

"No, you go ahead, I have plans already."

Huh???

"Plans? With whom? Why don’t I know about this?"

He rattled off a string of questions, and Lu Jing paused before answering:

"Liu Yuan asked me out to eat."

Hearing it was Liu Yuan, Jiang Ye didn’t mind as much:

"Shall I take you?"

"No need, she bought a car, she’s coming to pick me up."

It was to celebrate the new car purchase, hence the lunch treat.

With his wife having plans, Captain Jiang naturally didn’t plan to cook at home:

"Alright, I’ll just eat in the cafeteria." His tone carried a trace of wistfulness.
