Chapter 159: Chapter 159: This Shows that Captain Jiang Has a Wife
"I got it, I got it, let go."
Jiang Ye certainly couldn’t stay at home all the time. Getting the answer he wanted, he picked up his hat:
"I’m heading to the office now. If you’re bored, you can go downstairs and wander around."
Lu Jing actually had some social anxiety and didn’t really want to be in crowded places unless necessary.
"I’m not bored."
Jiang Ye laughed:
"Alright, good that you’re not bored. Or, you can give me a call."
Lu Jing glanced at him sideways:
"Can you stop blabbering so much?"
Dawdling like this even when it’s time to work.
Pfft, probably only Lu Jing would tease like this!
No one else had that privilege.
Jiang Ye, reluctant as he was to leave, had to go.
No help for it, duty called.
"I’m off."
Lu Jing ’hmm’ed a response.
Afterwards, the man really did leave.
Actually, it was already not that early, nearing three in the afternoon.
Lu Jing took out the new clothes he had bought, including the men’s shirt.
Taking advantage of the free time, he planned to wash them all.
Just as he had filled the basin with water and before he had even poured in the detergent, he heard the intermittent sound of siren alarms, with two fire rescue vehicles speeding out of the gate.
Lu Jing couldn’t help but worry; in peaceful times, firefighting was one of the most dangerous professions.
Even strangers would worry about firefighters, let alone Lu Jing.
But, it seemed there was nothing he could do but bear the anxiety.
All he hoped was that whoever responded to the call would return safely.
After sighing, he crouched down to hand wash the clothes item by item.
New clothes could almost just be rinsed once, no need to wash too harshly.
So, he finished washing them quickly.
Just in time, the sun was strong enough that they would dry in no time.
...
After finishing with the laundry, he started cleaning.
Finally, he bought groceries, which were delivered through a delivery service.
Otherwise, he really wouldn’t know how to pass the time.
At the end of the day, he still wasn’t used to it.
And so, time passed until almost seven o’clock, and he hadn’t returned.
Lu Jing inevitably grew more anxious, holding his phone in hand, wanting to make a call but fearing he might interrupt, so he could only pace anxiously back and forth in the room.
Jiang Ye actually hadn’t gone on a call that afternoon and had been busy in his office all along.
Because he had been delayed for a while earlier, naturally, he finished work later than usual.
Little did he know that someone at home was really anxious.
It was Old Qin who left work and returned to the family building first.
Lu Jing happened to see him from the balcony and called out:
"Coach Qin!"
Old Qin looked up upon hearing the shout:
"Little sister-in-law? What’s up?" he asked.
Lu Jing took a deep breath:
"Where’s Jiang Ye?"
Old Qin laughed then, smirking quietly:
"Old Jiang is in the office. He should be back soon, don’t worry, little sister-in-law."
The office, huh?
That was a huge relief.
"Alright, got it, thanks."
"No need to be so polite, little sister-in-law."
Knowing Jiang Ye hadn’t gone on a call, Lu Jing stopped pacing and went into the kitchen to start cooking.
After all, he couldn’t always let Jiang Ye bring meals back from the canteen, could he?
That man would surely have something to say about it.
He prepared a total of three dishes, to be precise, two dishes and one soup, all pre-cut and prepared by the shop, so all Lu Jing had to do was fry them up, very convenient.
One dish was stir-fried pork, another was pickled cabbage shredded potato, and there was also a mixed vegetable and seafood soup. The rice had been cooked earlier.
Jiang Ye left the office building and had just walked downstairs when he heard people talking:
"Did you guys see? Smoke’s coming from Captain Jiang’s kitchen."
"Pfft, someone’s cooking at home."
"What does that tell you?"
"It means our Captain Jiang got himself a wife now!"
