Fierce Love: Bringing Wife Home -
Chapter 516 - 6 Have you missed me?
Chapter 516: Chapter 6 Have you missed me?
Mr. Naji looked up, his face extremely embarrassed.
Anna instinctively took a step back, clearly unwilling to sell.
Besides, Mr. Naji wasn’t short of money.
Seeing his wife act this way, Mr. Naji also found it very difficult to say to Danny Jay, "This necklace is my wife’s most precious possession, she barely ever wears it. This..."
His troubled expression made it clear he was going to refuse.
Danny Jay raised an eyebrow and chuckled, "It’s just a gemstone. If she really likes it, I have a set of purple diamonds. Would she consider a trade?"
Mr. Naji turned to look at Anna.
Anna immediately shook her head, apologizing, "No, this is not a diamond, and it’s not worth much."
Gu Xiaoxi sighed. Even with Danny Jay’s status, he couldn’t buy it.
It seemed that money wasn’t going to work.
If Anna really liked it, she wouldn’t part with it no matter what.
Danny Jay’s face suddenly looked not so good, in the territory of D state, there was actually someone who didn’t give him face.
Gu Xiaoxi quickly tugged at his arm, signalling him to stay calm for now.
"Mr. Naji, do you remember me?" Gu Xiaoxi stepped forward and asked with a calm demeanor.
Mr. Naji was stunned for a moment, clearly recalling the incidents that happened on the plane a few days ago.
"It’s you! Miss Fu?" Mr. Naji exclaimed eagerly.
"That’s right!" Gu Xiaoxi smiled warmly, "May I have a word with you in private?"
Mr. Naji immediately nodded, "Yes!"
Having already scared him by refusing Danny Jay, he wouldn’t turn down Gu Xiaoxi’s request.
Gu Xiaoxi gestured politely, and then led Mr. Naji away from the banquet hall to the little garden outside.
"May I know what Miss Fu would like to discuss?"
Seeing Mr. Naji’s cautious face, Gu Xiaoxi spoke gravely, "It’s about your wife’s necklace."
"Ah!" Mr. Naji was taken aback.
The topic had suddenly turned back again.
Could it be that Danny Jay wanted to buy the necklace for her?
"Not to hide the truth from you. The necklace your wife is wearing is something my master lost," Gu Xiaoxi said solemnly, her voice tinged with sorrow, "Before his death, my master couldn’t retrieve all his scattered possessions, and he was very regretful. So, he entrusted this task to me. No matter what, I have to reclaim my master’s belongings."
Mr. Naji, puzzled, quickly asked, "When did your master lose these things?"
"About fifty years ago! There are a total of seven purple crystals, and he accidentally lost six. To this day, they haven’t been recovered." Gu Xiaoxi said and pulled out the crystal that Liu Yishou had left for her, holding it in her hand.
She opened her palm, and immediately a purple glow emanated from it.
Mr. Naji stared in horror, "This... it really glows, just like my wife’s."
"No!" Gu Xiaoxi said, closing her hand around the Purple Crystal, and the light retracted instantly. "This crystal is a guide to find the other gems; it only glows when I hold it and am within a certain range of your wife’s."
"That’s incredible! Does this gemstone hold some secret?"
Gu Xiaoxi caught onto his thoughts.
Mr. Naji must have thought it was some kind of treasure.
So, she shook her head, "To you, it’s nothing more than a decoration. But to me, it’s my master’s most precious belonging. I must recover them all."
Since she couldn’t tell the whole truth, she had to fabricate a story.
"But this glow?" Mr. Naji was convinced it was no ordinary object.
"In my hands, it will glow. But when it’s in yours, it’s just a piece of purple stone." Gu Xiaoxi said, placing the gemstone into Mr. Naji’s hand.
Indeed, no matter what he did, the gem didn’t glow while in his hand.
But as soon as he handed it back to Gu Xiaoxi, the glow reappeared immediately.
Mr. Naji was startled as well.
Seeing Mr. Naji waver, Gu Xiaoxi seized the moment to press on, "If you can convince your wife to sell this to me, I can promise to do you a favor. You asked me on the plane if I was a bounty hunter. Now, I can confirm that I am."
"You really are?" Mr. Naji, having encountered something unbelievable, was still struggling to grasp it.
Gu Xiaoxi nodded, "I know you can’t answer me right away. So, I’ll wait for your answer. Tomorrow morning, I will visit your residence."
Gu Xiaoxi pocketed the Purple Crystal and strode away.
Danny Jay had been waiting for her at the entrance to the banquet this whole time.
Afterwards, the two left together.
"Gu Xiaoxi, I’m inviting you to be a guest at my residence!" Danny Jay leaned against the luxury car, striking a handsome pose with a bright smile and seductive movements.
Gu Xiaoxi wiped the makeup off her face and took out her phone to call Su San, "Where are you guys?"
"At the International Center Hotel," Su San replied.
"Okay, I’ll be there in a bit," Gu Xiaoxi ended the call and then turned to Danny Jay. "Sorry, I’ve already booked a hotel. Thank you for tonight, let me treat you to dinner."
Danny Jay was at a loss for words at once.
"Eat what?"
"A seafood feast!" Gu Xiaoxi hailed a cab, opened the car door, and said to Danny Jay, "Please, get in."
Danny Jay glanced at his own luxury car, then at the taxi Gu Xiaoxi had flagged down, and was left speechless, "Can you ride in my car?"
"I’m treating you to a meal, so naturally we should take my car," Gu Xiaoxi said with a smile.
Danny Jay could sense Gu Xiaoxi’s character of not wanting to owe anyone anything.
They got into the car and went to a seafood restaurant.
Su San, Jing Haoran, Danny Jay, and Gu Xiaoxi—the four of them found a private room.
"I’ve always heard that the seafood here is really delicious. Since we’re here, we must try it," Gu Xiaoxi said as she looked towards Su San, and then added, "I’m the host, but you pay the bill."
"Pfft!" Danny Jay almost spat out a mouthful of water. "Gu Xiaoxi, is this how you invite someone for a meal?"
"You have food to eat, do you still care who pays?" Gu Xiaoxi retorted while slicing fish and glancing at him.
Su San smiled warmly, "I didn’t expect the noble Duke Danny to dine with us. It’s truly an honor."
"And what are you to her? Don’t you see she’s bullying you?" Danny Jay asked curiously.
Looking at Gu Xiaoxi with a gentle smile, Su San replied in an amiable manner, "She and I are friends; it’s just a meal."
Even though Gu Xiaoxi was the host, Danny Jay couldn’t help feeling uncomfortable.
Gu Xiaoxi was the host, but someone else was paying. Could this even be considered hosting?
This woman!
Jing Haoran and Danny Jay had met at the last military contest in Yu State. Afterwards, everyone chatted while eating.
Suddenly, Gu Xiaoxi’s phone rang.
She picked it up to see that it was from Quan Shaoqing.
"You guys go ahead and eat, I’m going to take a call," Xiaoxi said as she stepped outside with her phone.
After the call was answered, there was a moment of silence between them.
"You..." She hadn’t finished her sentence when, in the next second, Quan Shaoqing appeared before her.
Astonished, she stared at him, not even noticing the phone slipping from her hand.
In the corridor of the restaurant, he was dressed in a light grey coat, had put away his phone, and was smiling gently at her.
Without his military uniform, he looked like the gentle big brother next door.
"I came to see you!"
His deep and enchanting voice caused a sweet sensation to flutter in her chest.
Gu Xiaoxi hurriedly picked up her phone, but by then he had already approached her.
"Aren’t you happy to see me?" Quan Shaoqing chuckled, opening his arms to her.
Gu Xiaoxi’s ears turned red as she took a step towards him.
He immediately enfolded her tightly in his arms, burying his nose in her hair and greedily inhaling her scent.
Under the lights, the sweet atmosphere between them grew even more intense.
Quan Shaoqing reached out to stroke her soft hair, his lips curving into a gentle smile. "Is it that if I don’t come to find you, you don’t miss me?"
"I’ve just been a bit busy!"
Clearly, that was an excuse!
Gu Xiaoxi had thought of calling him during her free moments.
But she was afraid of disturbing him, knowing he had so many things to attend to every day.
Just seeing him in the newspapers or on the news was satisfying enough for her.
She never expected him to actually come see her.
"Doesn’t your visit interrupt your work?" Gu Xiaoxi asked, clutching his sleeve and looking up at him.
Quan Shaoqing shook his head, the corners of his mouth filled with a sweet smile. "It’s six in the morning now in Liuli Country."
"Then didn’t you rest well? You don’t have to worry; everything is fine with me," Gu Xiaoxi quickly explained.
Quan Shaoqing looked into her eyes, a trace of annoyance in his gaze. "Silly girl, I didn’t come because I’m worried about you. I came because I wanted to see you," he said, tightening his hold around her waist.
Gu Xiaoxi felt her heartbeat skip a beat.
Especially since his handsome face was right in front of her, his fair skin and distinct features exuding charm at all times—youthful, composed, and irresistibly alluring.
He had changed, indeed, becoming ever more enchanting and impossible to resist.
"Tell me, did you miss me?" Quan Shaoqing saw her staring blankly and couldn’t help but frown, gazing at her and demanding an answer with feigned anger.
