Chapter 493: Chapter 113: Taking Action in Advance
"When someone says they don’t love you, you feel very sad. That’s what love is!" Ai Xiang pulled out a cigarette, lit it, and handed it to Quan Shaoqing.
He moved a little, took it, and took a couple of puffs.
Then he started to laugh at himself, "What if I feel angry?"
"That means there is a little bit!" Ai Xiang immediately became alert and asked, "Shaoqing, is it worth it to do this for a woman who doesn’t like you? If your illness acts up again, no one will be able to save you."
"I know what to do, I won’t be unrequited anymore." Quan Shaoqing clenched his fingers tightly, his right hand already stained with blood.
He swore never to have feelings for Gu Xiaoxi again.
Not even anger was allowed!
"Then let me bandage your wound!"
...
Gu Xiaoxi went to the large courtyard across the way.
Everyone was eating, with delicious meat roasting over the bonfire, food in its most primitive form.
But she had no appetite.
Wu An saw her red eyes and handed her some roasted meat, "Eat! There isn’t much food here, most of the villagers rely on hunting for a living."
The dense primitive forest surrounded Sacred Mountain, and there was an abundance of wildlife.
Gu Xiaoxi took it, bit into it, "It’s well roasted!"
"I roasted it myself." Wu An said with a smile.
"Thank you!"
Wu An smiled. He could see that Gu Xiaoxi had matured a lot since before, and had become even more beautiful.
And he had always known, she was the one with the most secrets in the team.
Suddenly, Gu Xiaoxi looked up at Wu An and quickly said, "I have something to tell you..."
After hearing Gu Xiaoxi’s words, Wu An frowned in confusion, "Are you going alone?"
"Of course not just me, but you must stay put here tonight. Remember, you must tell Ai Xiang!" Gu Xiaoxi said, and finished the roasted meat in a few bites.
Then she left the courtyard.
...
That night, she planned to act alone to investigate where exactly Gu Feng was.
Of course, she wasn’t the only one with that goal in mind.
Just as she left the yard, Mi Xi followed her.
Gu Xiaoxi turned and looked at him, sighing, "Why are you following me?"
"Aren’t you going to look for Gu Feng? I’m going for the same reason! It’s better to go together for company!" Mi Xi said with a bright smile.
"I can go by myself! Don’t follow me!" Gu Xiaoxi felt it was better to keep her distance from them.
She didn’t want Quan Shaoqing to overthink and feel sad when he saw them.
But Mi Xi didn’t leave; instead, he laughed, "It’s because of him, right?"
"..." Gu Xiaoxi turned and glanced at him; in the pitch-dark night, all she could see was his faint gray silhouette.
"You love him, I know! Don’t worry, I won’t ruin anything between you two," Mi Xi continued to smile as if basking in a gentle breeze.
Gu Xiaoxi felt that it was difficult to see through the person in front of her.
"What is your purpose in getting close to me, or should I say, what do you want to gain from being good to me?" Gu Xiaoxi asked sincerely.
But Mi Xi earnestly tilted his head to look back at her, saying, "I’ve said before, I don’t harm people. And I certainly won’t harm you. If I have any purpose, it’s the favor I asked of you previously."
Gu Xiaoxi smiled slightly, not sure how much she could believe his words.
Was he being nice to her, really just to get her to help take care of Mi Luo and Mi Xue?
At least, so far, he hadn’t harmed her.
"I’m not obligated to help you take care of anyone!" Gu Xiaoxi strode deeper into the village.
Mi Xi just laughed nonchalantly, "As long as I’m alive, I don’t plan to hand them over to anyone else. What I’m saying is, if one day I’m no longer around."
Gu Xiaoxi looked at Mi Xi in confusion, "Why say such things? You’re almost five hundred years old. Maybe you’ll live longer than any of us!"
Mi Xi just smiled and remained silent, "Let’s go, I’ll help you find Gu Feng."
"How will you find him?" asked Gu Xiaoxi.
Mi Xi simply said, "You don’t even know how to look for him, so what are you doing out here?"
"Gu Feng hated me the most. If it weren’t for me, he wouldn’t have ended up defeated like this. As long as I show up, I will certainly attract him," Gu Xiaoxi said.
"Aren’t you afraid of the danger?"
"Sooner or later I will have to face it, so what’s the use of being afraid?" Gu Xiaoxi said indifferently.
Mi Xi scoffed, "You’re afraid of staying there and bringing danger to them!"
Gu Xiaoxi glared at him, "Shut up, no one thinks you’re mute."
"Hahaha!" Mi Xi laughed heartily.
They walked deeper into the village, and as night fell, the moon came out.
The earth was illuminated brightly.
"I never thought the moonlight would be so beautiful here!" Gu Xiaoxi couldn’t help exclaiming. "Isn’t it said that Sacred Mountain is thick with yin energy?"
"We’re still some distance away from Sacred Mountain’s vital grounds. However, with the sky so blue and the moon so beautiful, it’s hard to tell this was once an Ancient Battlefield," Mi Xi said with a smile.
"It’s been hundreds of years, there’s certainly no battlefield left," Gu Xiaoxi said just as they ran into two people.
Gu Xiaoxi found them somewhat familiar and upon closer inspection, realized it was Jing Rui.
"How did you end up here?" Gu Xiaoxi asked curiously.
Jing Rui seemed not surprised and said, "It’s not just me, the Island Master of Dream Island has come too, Sharon is missing."
"How could this happen? Did Gu Feng invite all of his enemies here?" Gu Xiaoxi asked in astonishment.
Jing Rui nodded, "It seems like it!"
"Where are you heading to then?" Gu Xiaoxi noticed Jing Rui was fully armed.
"I came out to have a look. If we wait until tomorrow, we might very likely fall into Gu Feng’s trap," Jing Rui said.
Gu Xiaoxi also immediately nodded, "I was thinking the same thing."
"It’s still best to be careful. Gu Feng is naturally cunning, and he doesn’t play by the rules, especially his Sorcery and witchcraft are terrifying," Mi Xi warned.
Jing Rui gave Mi Xi a glance, "And you are?"
"I’m here to save someone," Mi Xi obviously didn’t want to reveal his name, especially to someone from the International Alliance.
Gu Xiaoxi looked around, "This place doesn’t look strange, Gu Feng might not be here."
"If he is plotting something, he must choose a good location. Since he’s dealing with so many of us, there must be a large-scale operation," Mi Xi said. "We should ask the villagers if there are any caves, Ancient Tombs, or other such peculiar places here."
"No need to ask, I’ve already inquired. Ten kilometers from here there’s a city wall, and behind the wall lies a ruin. At the end of the ruin is the vital ground of Sacred Mountain. There is an underground cavern there. Because no one who has entered has ever come out, the villagers consider it Hell. They are even afraid to speak about it. If I hadn’t forced the information out of the mayor, he never would’ve told me," Jing Rui said.
While they were talking, Danny Jay came out smiling cheerfully, "I didn’t expect Captain Jin to be so formidable to even find out about this. In that case, I might as well join everyone."
Suddenly, so many people had gathered, just as Gu Xiaoxi had anticipated.
Not only did she want to scout out the situation in advance, everyone else did too.
"Since this is the case, let’s go together! It will be good for us to look after each other!" Gu Xiaoxi said.
Jing Rui nodded.
Danny Jay, Mi Xi, and a subordinate named Lu Si that Jing Rui had brought along.
A group of five set off toward the Ancient city wall, ten kilometers away.
As they approached the Ancient city wall, the sky suddenly darkened.
The moonlight became hazy and chilling.
Swirls of gloomy clouds gathered overhead, and the howling winds made the place eerie and terrifying.
Gu Xiaoxi swallowed hard, feeling her hairs stand on end.
"If you’re scared, go back and wait for me to check it out first. Then everyone else can make a decision," Mi Xi said, looking at the group.
"Since we’re here, we must take a look. If we wait until tomorrow, anything could happen overnight," Jing Rui was resolute. At this moment, she pulled out a flashlight.
Gu Xiaoxi also turned on her flashlight and said coldly, "Sneaking around, I want to see just what tricks Gu Feng is playing here."
"This place has such heavy yin energy, as if resentful spirits have been dwelling here for a long time. Such a scale of yin energy must have accumulated over hundreds of years," Danny Jay said, holding a glowing Crystal ball, his astute eyes filled with gravity. It was then Gu Xiaoxi noticed he was wearing a Magic Robe and was dressed very formally.
Mi Xi didn’t speak, his expression was more serious than ever.
As a Soul Body who has cultivated for nearly five hundred years, his senses were the strongest among them.
Indeed, there were dangers beyond their imagination inside.
The oppressive atmosphere didn’t deter them; the group stuck together, searching for the cavern.
No matter what, they had to rescue their loved ones, their comrades.
