She quickly turned around and ran back to her own room, then locked the door behind her.

Quan Shaoqing stood at the stairwell, watching her agile movements, and suddenly laughed. He laughed heartily and freely, finding loving a woman eight years his junior to be a mix of pain and exasperation.
