Chapter 1034: Chapter 1034: When a Man Becomes a Father, He Changes Chapter 1034: Chapter 1034: When a Man Becomes a Father, He Changes “No, really, I just have a cold,” Ann Nolan said with a laugh. “I really just caught a cold.”
Ann Nolan touched her forehead, feeling a bit feverish.
She might actually have a cold.
Jasmine Yale was suspicious but she was abroad and couldn’t go back to see Ann Nolan.
“Jasmine, when does school start? It’s soon, right?”
“Another week.”
“That’s good.” A hint of envy suddenly appeared in Ann Nolan’s eyes. She could have followed that path too, chasing a better version of herself.
But now she was shackled by chains.
In Landon, Zaiden Santos held immense power, and as a girl who had married into the city from afar, she knew she wouldn’t stand a chance in a fight with him.
She wouldn’t gain any advantage either.
He knew all manners of influential people in Landon, any of whom could prevent her from divorcing.
She had thought he was dissatisfied with their marriage and would agree if she proposed divorce.
She had imagined that he would certainly provide Harper Glorian with a happy and fulfilling home.
But she was wrong…
Where the mistake lay, she couldn’t pinpoint.
“Then Ann, if you have a cold you should take some medicine, get to bed early, and don’t overexert yourself,” Jasmine Yale advised.
“Okay, Jasmine, I’ll go take my medicine,” Ann Nolan said calmly.
“Okay.” Jasmine Yale obediently nodded her head.
Sweet Kitty kept circling at her feet, meowing whenever she spoke.
“Jasy, Jasy!” Chale Cheney was still in the kitchen making dumplings.
“Hey, I’m coming. Why are you calling for Jasy?” Jasmine Yale ran over, pinched his tender little face with a smile.
Ever since Chale Cheney came over yesterday, she had been over the moon.
All day long, she didn’t want to do anything but stay with the little guy.
“I want to eat dumplings,” Chale Cheney said, blinking his bright eyes at Jasmine Yale.
“How about we eat them later? In a bit, Jasy will call Aunt Lilac Serval over, and we can all have dumplings together,” suggested Jasmine Yale.
“Okay.” The little one crisply agreed, pouting, “Jasy, when we were making dumplings just now, I kinda kinda kinda missed Elder Cheney, hmm.”
Jasmine Yale was taken aback.
Just yesterday, he told her they should never bother with Elder Cheney again.
And told her not to either.
Today he was telling her he kinda missed him.
Jasmine Yale washed her hands and joined him in making dumplings, her face colored with tenderness and her eyes shining.
“Why?” she asked.
“Actually, Elder Cheney is only occasionally a bit mean. Just now, while making dumplings, I remembered him again, remembered how he took the baby to eat dumplings.”
“He took you to eat dumplings?”
“Mhm, in Lonton, Dad was really good to the baby.” Chale Cheney looked conflicted. “He would always save the big dumplings for the baby and blow on them when they were hot. Thinking about it, Elder Cheney isn’t so bad after all.”
Chale Cheney was quite conflicted, bright and clear gleams in his fluttering eyes.
“When the baby was still little, he would feed the baby too.” Remembering these things, Chale Cheney found himself missing Elder Cheney a little bit.
Even though he could be mean, those times were just a little bit less frequent than the good ones.
Chale Cheney bowed his head as he continued making dumplings, his childish hands skillfully working the dough.
Jasmine Yale looked at him, seeing the clear and bright light in his eyes.
The little guy seemed to really be missing his dad.
But Jasmine Yale hadn’t expected Sylvan Cheney to do these things.
He appeared cold and indifferent, keeping everyone at a distance, with a forbidding coldness on his face.
Maybe a man changes once he becomes a father?
Sylvan Cheney was indeed good to Chale Cheney…
After a while, the little guy shook his head again.
