Chapter 1021: Chapter 1021: Slender and Fair Fingers Chapter 1021: Chapter 1021: Slender and Fair Fingers Ann Nolan’s hair was scattered, her hair tie having fallen to the ground, letting her black hair cascade down.
In her flurry, she stepped away from Zachary Santos’s embrace and bowed her head to thank him, “Thank you.”
Zachary Santos grabbed her wrist and examined it closely, “It’s blistered.”
“It’s okay, I’ll take care of it in a bit.”
Ann Nolan bent down and picked up the hair tie from the ground.
The scent of cherry blossoms, faint and elusive, emanated from her hair, diffusing into the air and mingling with the cologne from his body.
Her heart thumped violently a few times, and Ann Nolan walked away from Zachary Santos.
She went upstairs to the guest room to take care of the blister.
The sky outside the window was exceptionally blue, clear, and serene, carrying the ease of late summer.
Green vines climbed over the fence in the courtyard, blooming flowers everywhere.
Ann Nolan carefully treated her wound, sitting by the bed for a long time.
Her black, glossy eyes held a light and shallow glimmer, her face serene and tranquil.
After a while, she combed her hair again and tied it up with the hair tie.
Returning to the kitchen, she saw Zachary Santos cooking.
To her surprise, Zachary Santos was very skilled.
She had thought him to be a pampered young master, not touching a single household chore, but he proved Ann Nolan wrong.
“It smells great,” Ann Nolan smiled.
“Are the blisters taken care of?” he asked while cooking, his shirt sleeves rolled up to his elbows.
The elegance of his scholarly physique now held a hint of domestic stability, the whole person graceful and calm.
“Yes, should I do it instead?”
“No need, you sit down in the dining room.”
“That won’t do, I promised to cook today, and yet here you are busy cooking, I feel bad,” Ann Nolan truly felt embarrassed.
She had only managed to make a dish of garlic prawns and hadn’t even gotten to the steak.
“If you really feel bad, you could make a fruit platter,” Zaiden Santos’s lips curved up, and he glanced at her briefly before looking back into the pot.
“Okay,” Ann Nolan agreed promptly.
The kitchen was large; while Zachary Santos cooked, she went to cut the fruits.
There were many seasonal fruits in summer; Ann Nolan washed grapes, cantaloupe, watermelon, dragon fruit… and carefully made a fruit platter.
Once Zachary Santos finished the tomato sauce steak, he moved behind her.
Ann Nolan hadn’t noticed his approach.
Zachary Santos reached over for a knife, selected a carrot, and carved out a “Little Flower.”
He placed the carrot decoration beside the plate and smiled, “How about that?”
Ann Nolan was astonished, staring unblinkingly; she turned to look at Zachary Santos, “How did you do that? That’s amazing. Did you specifically learn this somewhere?”
“No, I just figured it out on my own when I was bored as a child, and later got the hang of it.”
“That’s impressive.”
“Just a trivial skill,” Zachary Santos said nonchalantly, smiling.
Looking at the “flower,” Ann Nolan smiled; she truly admired it from the bottom of her heart. It was indeed impressive.
The “Little Flower” looked lively, almost real.
She definitely couldn’t do it.
“Does it look good?” Zachary Santos noticed her continuous gaze, “If you want to learn, I can teach you, though it’s just a trick to amuse people.”
“It looks very good.”
Seeing her interest, Zachary Santos picked another carrot, slowed his movements, and started carving it step by step for her.
Ann Nolan watched carefully.
Zachary Santos’s fingers were pale and slender, with distinct joints, his movements elegant and smooth.
After watching once, Ann Nolan shook her head, “It’s too hard, I give up learning.”
She wasn’t some kind of genius after all; for her, it was truly difficult.
“You don’t need to learn, it’s just for fun,” Zachary Santos laughed.
