Chapter 38
~Spring’s POV~
"Yeah, and that place would be placing my legs over your head, I promise you." Madelyn spat bitterly.
Her eyes glinted after saying that, like someone concoting something wicked. She turned to Liana, who leaned in and whispered something in her ear.
I didn’t need to hear it. I’d already read her lips.
"Everything is ready Madelyn. The cups’ being swapped, their order arranged in a M formation. 1, 4, 5, 8, 9. The pill’s ready. There’s no miracle, she’s going down."
I smiled.
"You called me out. Now what?" I asked. "You gonna explain the rules? Or just fail dramatically in front of all these people?"
Gasps and laughter erupted around us.
Madelyn cleared her throat with mock grace and stepped forward. "We’re playing Nerve Roulette," she announced, loud and proud. "Ten shot glasses. Nine are harmless, sugar water. One is mixed with a high-dose truth serum... and enough caffeine to make you dizzy."
More murmurs, excited and uneasy, flickered around us. People were already checking their betting apps, locking in their predictions.
"You drink a shot, then answer a question drawn from the deck," she continued. "You refuse to answer—you forfeit. And everyone will know you’re a coward amonsgt other things, which also mean, I win."
"Fine," I agreeed, nodding. "Is it just reputation on the line, or do you want to raise the stakes? Or is money involved?"
Madelyn smiled, saccharine-sweet and cruel. "Actually, I think it’s time we invoke an old-school clause. A little game from three years ago."
Chloe stepped forward, voice tight. "No. Those were abolished. No one uses those rules anymore."
Madelyn’s grin widened. "I bet the Vice President won’t mind."
Everyone’s eyes turned toward the raised platform at the back.
The Vice President of the Student Council, still unseen by me until now, tilted her head from her velvet seat—and gave a single, slow nod.
Gasps rippled across the room.
Eva looked like she wanted to disappear. "Wait—what does that mean?"
Madelyn licked her lips. "Loser becomes the winner’s house pet for a month."
My gaze sharpened. "That’s the best you’ve got?"
She blinked.
"Sure," I said smoothly. "Let’s see if you can handle the leash."
The crowd screamed at that. Phones whipped out, side bets flying in seconds.
And me? I kept smiling.
Because what they didn’t know was this:
Earlier—while Madelyn and her witches were gloating by the bar—I had doubled back. I slipped through the servers’ curtain, rewrote the labels, and swapped the cups. Her specially marked "safe" cup? Replaced. Her neutral pill filter? Gone.
The table was prepped. Ten cups gleamed under the neon glow, and the match was about to begin.
We took our seats and the timer on the board blinked: Match Begins in 10:00
Whispers swirled all arouind us as the circle widened.
I watched as Madelyn glanced over at Beatrice—Beatrice nodded and gave her a signal.
And just as the timer hit zero, she grabbed the red-dotted cup she believed to be clean and drank from it.
There was a long pause as Madelyn licked her lips, confused.
I took the next turn. I grabbed the other red-dotted one and tipped it back.
The bitter burn confirmed it: I got the second dose of the truth serum mixed with the caffeine.
Only one truth serum shot remained on the table—and it was hidden among the unmarked glasses.
Madelyn shifted in her seat, her eyes narrowing at the bottle a little bit too long for the normal. Her fingers tapped the table. Her eyes darted briefly to her friends.
Then to me.
I leaned in and spoke just loud enough for her to hear.
"You’re sweating, Madelyn," I stated softly.
Madelyn eyed me and adjusted in her seat. "You’re not looking good either, are you."
"True." I wasn’t but unlike her who thought she could rig it all and wasn’t prepared for the gambling risk involved... well.
"So, I suggest you keep shut and play the game."
Madelyn reached for the card on the table but I stopped her byreaching for it first. "First of all, tell me, how does it feel?"
Her brows creased. "Waht do you mean by how does it feel?"
I shrugged as my arched at her, waiting for her to realise her mistake. "It... It feels... bad. Oh no. I am in..."
"Waht did you have for breakfast?" I asked, wanting to test if me ruining he rplans worked.
"Fynn’s dick."
I resisted the urge to burst into a peel of laughter but the students around did that in my place.
"Oh... someone’s being a slut this early in the morning, sucking off the poor lad."
My gaze flickered to the guy in question—tall, not taller than either of the regional alphas but he had a fair skin.
He was an elf, a shy, timid, geek kind who let people like Madelyn push them at will.
I winked at him before looking back at Madelyn. Something in her changed as she glared me daggers.
"He’s got an eight and a half inches dick and he is mine."
My smile grew at how well she exposed herself. Immediately, a flicke rof a light drew my attention and I knew a few students were already recording teh ordeal while Liana scolded one of the students closed tot her.
The others had confused looks on their faces. And almost immediately, i saw Madelyn’s eyes widen in fear.
She reached inside her school jacket pocket, searching for something. I crossed my arms, watching her unravel herself a bit before leaning in,s o she could hear my voice.
"That filter pill not kicking in?"
Madelyn’s eyes widened.
She reached instinctively for her second jacket pocket—then froze.
I lifted a tiny glass bottle with two red pills inside and smiled.
"Looking for this?"
Gasps exploded around us.
I tossed the bottle to Zoey, a neutral upperclassman and and one of the Student Council’s enforcers under the Disciplinary Head, Jace.
"No filters. No cheats," I said. "And we’ll be using a new card deck—random, unmarked and play by any game set rules there."
Zoey grinned. "Gladly."
