Chapter 296: Chapter 293: Unrestrained Revelry
Mountain Eagle had not felt this relaxed in months...
He had originally planned to bring Balang along for an extended period to build rapport, but when Tessa pushed out a pitch-black Harley Fat Boy and a red Honda off-road motorcycle from the next house, he tossed his prior plans aside.
If anyone knew how to have fun, it was clearly Tessa, and she was more willing to spend money too.
The best part was that Tessa wasn’t the clingy type of girl.
She wouldn’t just get a motorcycle for her boyfriend and then demand he always ride with her; instead, she’d get one for herself too, so they could both enjoy the thrill of riding.
Watching Tessa perched on the hefty Harley Fat Boy, lighting a cigarette with style and taking a drag, then crooking her finger at him...
Mountain Eagle smiled as he stood, striding across the lawn between the two houses to Tessa’s side, circled the bulky Harley Fat Boy, and gave Tessa a thumbs-up...
"Great taste!"
Tessa tossed him a pair of sunglasses, smiling. "The motorcycle seller gave them to me, and I think they’d look great on you!"
Then she walked over to the Honda off-road bike, revved the engine forcefully a couple of times, and said, "Hurry up and get changed. My mom and a bunch of people are waiting for us..."
Mountain Eagle looked at Tessa in her tight jeans and white T-shirt, nodded, and went back to his house to rummage through the luggage Luo Yang had sent, unpacking a pair of paratrooper pants and a green snug-fitting quick-dry T-shirt to put on.
Upon leaving, he called out to the unwilling Big Dog Balang to follow him...
After starting the Harley Fat Boy and watching how the low rumble frightened two little dogs into barking, Mountain Eagle grinned, stuffed them into the bags on either side of the back seat, and then mounted the motorcycle...
Revving the engine a couple of times, he knocked on the Harley’s not-so-spacious rear seat with a backhand, and Big Dog Balang, anxious and circling the motorcycle, eventually couldn’t leave his ’sons’ behind and obediently jumped into the back seat.
Balang’s intelligence exceeded Mountain Eagle’s expectations, which brightened his mood a few more notches...
Watching Tessa put on her helmet and give him a challenging look, Mountain Eagle shook his head with amusement. Without bothering to wear a helmet, he slowly started down the mountain trail.
Racing? That was out of the question!
In Mountain Eagle’s view, the greatest purpose of the motorcycle was to carry the girl he loved, in a beautiful place, against the sunset and the moist sea breeze, and to take a ride on the spacious coastal road.
When Tessa displayed a semi-professional rider’s demeanor, racing down the hill on her Honda off-road bike only to find Mountain Eagle descending as leisurely as an old man, she felt disheartened to see no trace of the ’Knight’s’ elegance in him.
This realization made Tessa somewhat dispirited. After several provocative attempts on either side of Mountain Eagle without eliciting a response, she finally cursed, "What a waste!" and impatiently hit the throttle, moving on ahead by herself.
Mountain Eagle didn’t mind at all. To him, the greatest joy of riding a motorcycle was feeling the freedom of a Knight, pure and unrestrained. To simply go faster meant eating dust, with no real pleasure to speak of.
He was not one of those ’madmen’ who were innately immune to fear and sought thrills through such means.
Big Dog Balang was initially nervous, but Mountain Eagle’s leisurely attitude soon settled him down.
Balang’s body was like it had an automatic stabilizer installed, sitting steadily behind Mountain Eagle, maintaining body balance and firmly fixing himself on the seat regardless of the turns.
The two little pups, placed in the side saddlebags, were also nervous at first but soon found a little fun in it...
With tongues lolling in the wind, they occasionally barked at Mountain Eagle to speed up so the wind could puff up their cheeks.
Mountain Eagle was in excellent spirits; it was the first time he experienced the coastal charm of Kamui in such a completely relaxed way.
Even if the locals sped past him on their motorcycles, casting disdainful looks, he didn’t mind.
When he arrived at Ao Nan Beach, the sight before him left him stunned...
Kamui was never a hot tourist spot, mainly because the infrastructure wasn’t much to speak of.
Ao Nan wasn’t as clean as those well-known beaches in Thailand, but the low prices there were amicable, attracting European and American men and women who loved experiencing life.
Cheap and uncrowded were the norms for Kamui, but when Mountain Eagle arrived at the entrance to Ao Nan Beach, he was blocked by a dense crowd.
The sight of the throngs brought back memories of Hu City’s subways during rush hour!
The two-lane coastal road was packed, giving Mountain Eagle the feeling he’d come to the wrong place, like mistaking it for a holiday weekend at the Great Wall.
The roughly three-kilometer stretch of Ao Nan Beach was having its moment in the sun.
Tourists squeezed through, pushing forward little by little; the two-way road constricted into a one-way lane. The cries of children and the complaints and laughter of tourists mixed together, giving this normally tranquil beach an oddly surreal atmosphere.
Who said foreigners don’t love a crowd? Who said they don’t like a good deal?
Mountain Eagle had announced free hospitality yesterday, and today it seemed like all of Kamui had shown up.
Mountain Eagle’s Harley stood out, so when he reached a temporary security checkpoint set up by the police, he was stopped by a few SWAT officers.
A short special police officer with bright eyes held onto the motorcycle handlebar and said with a strange expression, "Hello, Officer Yue Shan, motorcycles can’t get through now, you might need to walk in."
Mountain Eagle stretched his neck and looked at the office two kilometers away. He shook his head helplessly and said, "Can I take a detour through the town?"
The special police officer replied with a smile, "Miss Tessa tried that just now, but the traffic in Ao Nan is pretty much paralyzed. Since 7 a.m., merchants and tourists from all over Kamui have been continuously flocking here. Rumors of you hosting a banquet are spreading even further, and many people from the surrounding counties of Kamui also want to come. We were utterly unprepared, so we can only guard a few intersections as best as we can to prevent more vehicles from entering and adding to the pressure inside."
Mountain Eagle rubbed his temples with a distressed look and said, "So how am I supposed to get in? I need to go to work..."
The special police officer obviously had a plan ready. He pointed to the sea and said with a smile, "You can take the sea route. We’ve prepared a jet ski that can take you in."
Mountain Eagle clearly felt the malice from the special police. He squinted his eyes and asked, "How did Tessa get in?"
The special police officer spread his hands and said, "Officer Tessa rode an off-road motorcycle and passed through the beach."
As he said this, the special police officer looked at Mountain Eagle’s cool Harley motorcycle and said with a laugh, "Your bike definitely won’t make it through. You can leave the motorcycle here with me. I’ll deliver it back to your home later and then drive our armored vehicle back..."
After hearing this, Mountain Eagle instantly realized that he was suffering the consequences of his foolish actions from the previous night...
Looking at the clearly ill-intentioned expressions of the special police around him, Mountain Eagle decisively got off his bike, let down his two little dogs, and said with a bit of resignation, "No problem, but besides the jet ski, is there any other way to get there?"
The special police officer grinned and said, "You could walk there, it would take about two hours..."
.........
Ten minutes later, the tourists stationed around the Volunteer Police office heard a torrential wave of music coming from the sea.
A gaudily decorated jet ski, adorned with various flashy lights in a flamboyant style and blaring a Thai version of "Above the Moon," rushed onto the crowded beach spewing grey-black smoke.
Big Dog Balang jumped off the jet ski with his two sons the moment the jet ski steadied, as if standing on it was particularly embarrassing.
Mountain Eagle jumped off the obviously malfunctioning jet ski, kicked it hard, and then stepped onto the beach to the inextinguishable public square dance music.
Just when he wanted to leave this unlucky place quickly and avoid the stares of the surrounding people, a few water balloons were hurled at him from a distance.
Mountain Eagle agilely dodged the water balloon assault, and just as he wanted to speed away from this troublesome spot, a large group of bikini-clad girls giggled their way out of the crowd, brandishing their water guns and pulled the triggers at Mountain Eagle.
With the other side having overwhelming numbers, Mountain Eagle rushed up and knocked down a few penniless girls who couldn’t even afford clothes, snatched two water guns, and fought back for a while, but was soon defeated amidst booing from the onlookers and beat a hasty retreat.
Just as he managed to break through the bikini brigade and wanted to retreat to the office for cover...
Li Chengji stuffed a stack of Thai Baht into a water cart driver’s hand, then took the water cannon from them and aimed it at the disheveled Mountain Eagle, her face revealing a cold smirk...
Mountain Eagle finally wriggled away from the girls’ unwelcome advances, wanting to rush into the office just a dozen meters away, when he heard someone call his name...
"Yue Shan..."
When he instinctively glanced over, he saw Li Chengji holding the water cannon aimed at him...
"Oh shit..."
As he watched a strong jet of water fire from the cannon, Mountain Eagle helplessly covered his head with his hands, then felt a powerful stream hit his chest, turning him into a rolling gourd as he again fell into the midst of the bikini brigade.
The pressure of the water from the water cart wasn’t severe, but those bikinis held on only by a couple of thin straps were far too fragile...
As the water washed over them, several bikini-clad girls screamed, clutching their chests and hastily hid behind Mountain Eagle, pushing him in front as a human shield.
In the ensuing chaos, Mountain Eagle inadvertently took advantage, then had advantage taken of him...
It wasn’t until the water jet ceased that Mountain Eagle dared to open his eyes.
As he looked around at the group of pouting, topless girls, just as he raised his hands to show he hadn’t touched anything, he was greeted by a wave of pouting and little fists...
Broadcast, now wearing a floral shirt, took advantage of the tourists being distracted by the ’big scene’ to slip into the crowd with a stack of cards embellished with erotic patterns...
He handed one to every man who was captivated, followed by a phrase, "Fair prices, no cheating old or young"...
When encountering some interested female tourists, Broadcast didn’t miss out even on them, handing them a card as well, indicating they’re welcome to call and book an experience of Thai specialties.
Mountain Eagle yelled a few harsh words at the laughing Broadcast, and after finally extricating himself from a group of overenthusiastic sisters, he made a bow to Li Chengji as an apology and plea for mercy, then rushed into the office courtyard...
Looking at the scene in the courtyard, Mountain Eagle held his head in his hands, incredulous, and said, "What the hell are you doing?"
