Chapter 33 Leaf the librarian

The four of us lay together, covered in sweat and panting from the lovemaking we had just done. I had to be careful with Tems. Kobolds have litters as often as two months after they get pregnant, so with her being half human, she could pop at any moment or in the next few months, it varied heavily depending on which race she leaned more toward.

My hands were both busy, one wrapped around Cherry before groping her breasts. The other sat on Silk as I rubbed Tems’ pregnant stomach. The new bonuses were pretty obvious. I had stats equivalent to someone over an entire rank of where I should be. All of my wives were getting about 1.5 in all their stats, which put them far higher than where they should be as well.

We were getting so strong, I had no doubts that after they gave birth, the four of us could go and clear the dungeon. The goblin king who gave Silk trouble before would easily be dealt with. I could deal with a dozen goblins myself, and I was the weakest. It put things into perspective, they were rapidly outgrowing their need to be here. Even if they lost the 15% daily bonus, they’d still get 30% of my stats.

That was enough to put them in the top 1% of adventurers at their level. If they went out and tried leveling as fast as they possibly could, they might reach the uncommon rank in less than a year. I don’t think either of them wanted to do that. All of us were happy here, and I was now just starting to relax. In the back of my mind, all the way up until now, I was worried about fighting.

I was worried about the dungeon, and I was worried about bandits showing up and killing me. I was slowly getting more comfortable with the thought that the dungeon was breaking and sending goblins, and if bandits attacked, my strong and capable wives and I could deal with all but the largest groups.

If bandits did attack, I could deal with two or three myself while they might be able to take out five or six each, even Cherry. I hadn’t seen it, but the townsfolk sang her praises when it came to casting magic. She had offensive magic from a skill, and if any goblins got into the village, she would deal with them just as fast as her father did.

She was more of a glass cannon, though. If she didn’t kill the opponent in a few spells, then she didn’t have the extra skills for defense or sustaining that other mages had. I didn’t really think of her as a combatant like my other wives. She had made it clear that she was a homebody, even if we did go to clear the dungeon, I doubted she’d come with us unless someone specifically asked her to.

I could tell she would be a great mother to our children, even the ones that weren’t hers. It was something I hadn’t put much thought into. Where did everyone fit in the family after we had children? Someone would have to take care of them while we worked. I wasn’t going to force anyone, and at this point, we could probably hire two or three caretakers for them, but I thought Cherry would just naturally fill that spot once they’re born. It was definitely something to talk about before Tems had her babies.

With how much I’ve been cumming in her, she might be having a baby soon as well, but there were no signs so far. Right now, it was mostly waiting for things to grow, so I was trying to figure out something else I could do until the second wave of the artisanal goods sells. I decided to visit the library and purchase more books.

I was shocked by how lonely the librarian's life was. It was all by choice, but it just seemed… Sad to me. The only time I saw her out of the library was a fluke when I woke up at the crack of dawn to take some products to the trader I had forgotten the previous day. Also, how did the library function? I’m fairly certain I might have been the only one to buy a book delivery the entire year. How could she afford the vegetables she ate? Those were questions I wouldn’t get an answer to, unfortunately.

“You get those new books in yet?” She was reading while she ate a salad. Without looking up, Leaf motioned with her head to the shelf beside her. I could see the extra books I purchased. There were three farming books and one on animal husbandry here. I also needed to purchase them, which would cost a gold, and have the one for beekeeping as well.

“Can I get copies of all these books made, and also one for beekeeping?” She finally looked up as she nodded her head. “I’d also like to have a book on herbs, a book on spellwork, and a book on golem making sent here, possibly to be purchased at a later time.” She agreed. “I can do that for you. It will take a week for those books to come in.”

I cracked open the book and began to read. I needed to refresh myself on how to take care of animals during winter, the same went for the book about bees I was having made and shipped here. I was halfway through the day, swapping books, when she interrupted me. “I have a question for you.” I had gotten so accustomed to the silence that her soft voice almost scared me.

“Go ahead.” “Why do you try so hard?” It was such an innocent-sounding question, but it came with many implications. The undertone meant that I was trying harder than everyone else, but the secondary reason was that I must have been trying for some reason. Neither was the case, I would say that I didn’t work harder than most, just smarter. I was constantly trying new things, but I almost always had stamina left at the end of the day, which wasn’t the case for Tems or Silk.

The secondary reason had even less meaning behind it. Everyone tried to level, sure, I was leveling faster than most, but that was because I was once again trying many new things. “I don’t think I am, I’ve just gotten very lucky over and over again.” She didn’t respond for a long enough time that I thought she wasn’t going to before she asked again.

“I’ve just never seen someone like you. Very few people care enough about their class to buy books, very few people are willing to push the boundaries of their class to grow as fast as you.” Her eyes lit up with a scanning spell for a brief moment to show what she meant, I must have looked like a total weakling when I first came here. Now that I had three wives boosting my stats, it would appear that I was an entire tier stronger than I actually was.

“Once again, I just got really lucky. One of my skills lets me get stronger rapidly, and I’ve been taking advantage of it. I can show you sometime, if you’re willing to sleep with me.” She once again sat in silence, this time for even longer, before she responded. “Maybe… If I ever feel the need for a change in my life… Maybe I’ll take you up on that offer…”

We sat in silence, reading together until I refreshed my knowledge on taking care of animals and preparing the fields for winter.
